  1. Matteo is an absolute joke and putting him at left back against Routledge is a bad decision by Hughes, because not only is Matteo a slow as a brick, he can't defend either. Flitcroft starting in midfield hardly instills me with confidence either.
  2. Another huge game for Rovers. We should have beaten Spurs last week and come into this game with more confidence. If we win, then we move above Palace. In Andy Johnson they have a real threat up front and as such we have to defend well. Tugay's injury is a big blow for Rovers, but Thompson or Flitcroft can come in and do a decent job. We need to win to take more pressure off ourselves and I think we will win, 2-1.
  3. I'm going to try and get over for this one, with my cousins being made Cardiff fans. We could have got a harder team, that's for sure.
  4. It's about time that we had a good run in the cup. All to often we have benn dumped out in the early rounds against opposition we should really be beating, or else we draw someone like Arsenal or Chelsea early on. A good cup run, could increase confidence, lead to better results in the Premiership and allow some of the fringe players to show their worth.
  5. Pedersen or De Pedro should be on the bench before Gary Flitcroft. I was disappointed that we seen so little of them. They could have come on yesterday and made a difference. They would have brought more of an attacking threat than Matteo anyway.
  6. NEJ has been playing well in the centre of defence, but hasn't played well at left back. I don't know why Hughes is playing him there, when we have Gray and McEveley. Johannson can fill in at lef t back, if there are others out injured, but there aren't and by playing him there, it only affects the team.
  7. Todd was played very well tonight. He kept Jermaine Defoe quiet, which is quite an achievement. He made some fine interceptions and tackles and looked composed in defence. NEJ was poor, but he isn't a left back. It was a disappointing result, because Spurs are a team that we should definately be beating at home. We have been playing well and Spurs have been on a poor run and we should have capitalised on it. We didn't play that badly, just not with the same tempo from our previous games. Spurs looked like more of a threat up front than we did and we just weren't able to break them down. This was a real chance to move up the table and further away from trouble and it is disappointing that we didn' take advantage of it.
  8. I hate Spurs and their attitude of being a big club, who should be doing better. Well, the fact that they have been crap for years tells you something about the club. Blackburn are on a decent run at the moment, they are playing well and showing huge amounts of passion and determination. We need to carry this form on, with a win moving us further up the table. I think that can win and it will be a huge lift if King is out. We have to be strong in defence, because in Keane and Defoe, Spurs have a genuine attacking threat, which could tear a team apart. But it is not going to happen today. 3-1 to Rovers
  9. Stead has looked quite poor this season, but not Jansen. He has got a run of games, scored some goals and has played well. He mightn't have done enough to be a regular starter, but when he comes back from his injury, I see him playing alot more for Rovers. But he will have to earn his place because Dickov and Gallagher have been playing well and scoring over the last couple of games and Bothroyd was impressing before he got banned. I can understand why Hughes doesn't rate Stead, because he hasn't been doing it for Rovers and the way that the other strikers have been scoring, it makes it difficult for Stead to get on the bench now, let alone the starting 11. I think that he is a very talented player and should not be disgarded. If we were to sign Bothroyd, that would leave us with 3 young exciting strikers, which can perform in the Premiership and develop and take the club forward.
  10. Gallagher has done well over the last 2 games, scoring two goals. He did very well last week when he came on, and yesterday he got the goal, but didn't play as well as he did against Birmingham. He should definately start the next game and as long as he keeps scoring, then he should keep his place in the side.
  11. What a great day! It has been a while since I have felt happy on a Saturday, after a Rovers win. Today, it was not only the win that made me happy, but the performance and the fact that we are out of the bottom three and we are playing and defending well. All our players were excellent today, but for me the stand out players were Johannson, Todd, Tugay, Emerton and Dickov. It's been a long time coming, but we are playing well, which IMO is because we are playing with a settled side and importantly a settled defence. Today, we had our best defenders playing and it showed. We need to push on from this win and win next week ,which could take us up as far as 12th I think. Well done lads.
  12. When he has come on in the last couple of matches, he has played in the centre and played very well. So, why shouldn't he be able to do it from the start? There would be question marks over his defensive capabilities, but Tugay hardly does that well. I think that a defense midfielder is something that Rovers have been missing for years and if you look at the top teams, they all have them. This is a position that needs to be address, with someone like Hamann or Van Bommel, but for the moment, I'd give Thompson a try.
  13. We are playing alot better at the moment and showing some consistency-4 draws in a row. However we need a win desperately. Fulham have had an up and down season so far and hopefully we can take advantage of this. Just as long as we don't concede the first goal, I think that we can winn this won. Hughes has instilled alot of confidence in the players and they know that a win on Saturday could take us off the bottom of the table and kickstart the season.
  14. I believed that Yorke deserved to get a bit of stick from the fans when he came on, because of his performances in a Blackburn shirt. However, that fan's racist behaviour was disgraceful and no matter how crap Yorke played for us, he certainly did not deserve that. It doesn't put Blackburn as a club in a favourable light. That 'fan' should be found, banned for life and recieve some sort of police charge. Any racism at all is intolerable, and it puts players like Reid, Djorkaeff, Yelldell and Johnson, as well as any other players that we are trying to attract to the club in a difficult position.
  15. Just wondering what people's take on Jansen going off at half time is? Does anyone know the reason? Maybe his injury allows him to play only 45 mins.
  16. Gallagher played well when he came, scored a goal, played some good passes and with more match sharpness he may well have followed in on Reid's effort. It's funny that Bothroyd came into the team, played well and scored. He then got sent off and the other strikers have been looking for his place. Jansen came in today and scored. He then went off and Gallagher came on and scored. This competition for places and the fact that the replacements are playing well is good news. Hopefully Gallagher will be given another chance to impress.
  17. The team showed great 'bouncebackability' in the second half, but I'm still disappointed that we only got a draw. After the great start that we had, we should have built on it and not have conceded so soon after it. Then in the second half, we had Ferguson'effort, which was tipped over by Taylor, Thompson's volley, Reid's shot which no one followed in and Dickov's chance in the last minute. These were all great chances which would have won us the game and got us off the bottom of the table. Our defence looked dodgey again and I thought that they were playing alot better, I just hope that we aren't returning to the defending of old. Reid was my MOTM. I always believed that he was up to Premiership standard and it has taken time, but his performance over the last couple of games have been very good and today was a real break through. He took his goal very well, he set up Jansen and could have scored again with a great effort from outside the area. I thought that Tugay had a poor game and the way that Thompson performed when he came on, he should start the next game. Ferguson had another great game, as did Dickov. However, sometimes I feel that Dickov takes shots when they aren't really on. Well at least we didn't lose which would have been a nightmare.
  18. This is a must win game for Rovers. People have been saying that now we are having a run of games against teams that are around us in the league. But in truth that run started 2 games ago against Norwich (granted that those games were away from home). On Sunday we are at home, against a team low in confidence and playing poorly. We haven't lost in three games, we are playing alot better and more importantly defending better, so here is a great chance to get a badly needed 3 points. If we are to avoid a relegation battle we need to pick up a couple of wins from the next games and I'm confident this will start on Sunday, with a 3-1 victory for Blackburn.
  19. I watched some of the game last night and thought that Pedersen had a good game. His pass for the first goal was sublime, and his goal was abit lucky, but it will do his confidence no harm at all. His performance should get him a place on the bench on Sunday. I think that we should stick with the team that started against Citeh, with only Jansen coming in for Stead. I'm sure Reid won't be happy that Pedersen thinks he should start over him on Sunday! Reid has been playing well and deserves his place. Whenever we are further up the table, I'd like to see a midfield of Pedersen Reid Ferguson and Emerton.
  20. A good result for Rover yesterday. I thought that it was going to be a difficult game for Rovers after Citeh's good result against United last week, I'm sure that they were full of confidence. But watching the game on Football First, Rovers more than deserved their point and could have snatched it at the end. Defensively, we are looking alot stronger, with McEveley again showing what a promising player he is and IMO he is far better than Gresko or Gray and we are looking stronger in that position. Todd and Johannson are showing some steel and defensive capabilities, unlike Amoruso and Matteo. Emerton is playing very well at the moment and if we were to lose him in January, I'd be devastated. The other midfielders played well, Ferguson showing his ability on a regular basis now, Reid putting in solid performances, which we need if we are the get out of the bottom three, with his pass for the penalty being sublime. Tugay looked very bright, but still gives the ball away too much. I thought that our strikers did well, Dickov has been a great signing, Stead plays well, but just can't score, while I thought that Jansen looked very good coming off the bench and should start next week. I was glad to see Thompson return yesterday and he certainly made a difference. I can see him starting next week, in place of Tugay. Three draws in a row, have stopped the losing run, and we are clearly playing with alot more confidence under Hughes, with our defence looking alot stronger and mobile. However, we need to convert these draws into wins, so we can start climbing the table and this needs to start next week against Birmingham, who are on a bad run themselves. Our next couple of games will shape our season. We are playing teams who are close to us in the league and we should be looking to take 10 points from the games, and this will decide if we are going to have a season where we consolidate, or one where we are battling relegation.
  21. Very sad news, the guy is a legend at Blackburn and I think that he should have been kept on at some level. But Hughes is the manager and I respect his decision if it is the best thing for the club.
  22. I'd like to see Reid given ago in the middle, but then again he is getting settled on the right, so I don't know if he should be changed around again. One thing is for sure, as well as a new defender, a central midfield player is needed. Another possibility would be David Thompson.
  23. There have been far worse than Egil Ostenstad, who I thought was all right.
  24. Bothroyd has let the team down and himself down, by getting sent off today, especially when you consider how well he played last week. This was a game that we needed to win and should have won, it sounded like we were in total control with 10 men, so if we had Bothroyd up front, who had been playing well, we should have won this. Hughes will no doubt be furious with Bothroyd, but will be happy with the way that the team responded with 10 men. But it is still 2 points dropped.
