  1. I think a lot depends on the size of squad Tomasson wants to be left with long term, rather than worrying about the here and now. If he sees Carter as one for this season, we're unlikely to be looking for more than one defender. I've no idea what size of squad he used at Malmo, but it might give an indication of how many he may want in before the window closes.
  2. Bloke sat next to me on Wednesday said he thought he was limping back out of the tunnel to take his seat at half time.
  3. Note to tomorrow's stadium d J. More AC/DC and turn it up.
  4. It looked as if Burnley had bought a load of average players and just put them all on the pitch together🤔
  5. The being below Rovers was tongue in cheek obviously, but it does show how far you've fallen in 2 years, you were light years in front of us. I know there's nothing you can do about it, I've many mates say the same, but if I'd told you 2 years ago that this is where you'd be,I don't think you'd be flying the stars and stripes. Nobody knows better than us the perils of foreign ownership, but it's the almost false optimism that you've actually moved forward which has me puzzled.
  6. Please tell me it won't be every post, every day, over and over and over and over again for the next 20 years.
  7. Is it compulsory to compare every decision Tomasson makes to what it's believed Mowbray would have done. And if so, when is the finishing date, and also what is the point?
  8. Tough game against my favourites for promotion. Go on, let's have a 2-0 win.
  9. The facts are there, I know they're a pain. He took over a team of overaged, overpaid players in a relegation fight. He left the second youngest squad in the Championship, with the record number of academy players, assembled under a strict salary cap, in 8th place. If you want to call it a journey, it's up to you, it is what it is. His time was up, Tomasson looks like the perfect fit, everything is good, but let's not rewrite history.
  10. Wasn't being cryptic at all, I thought it was obvious. If you think Tomasson would have been anywhere near the job 5 years ago, with a team in a relegation fight full of overaged, overpaid players, you must be dreaming. He's a breath of fresh air, I was there last night and it was a great night. But if you think that this situation would be possible without the spade work done over the last 5 years, then I think you're sadly mistaken. Tomasson knew exactly what he was inheriting.
  11. I think that comment would only be relevant if Tomasson had taken over 5 years ago. There is no doubt, Tomasson knew exactly what he was inheriting. It would seem the ones who were most vocal in their displeasure with Mowbray, are the ones who just can't let him go.
  12. Quite enjoyed watching Markanday tonight. Really unlucky with the shot that hit the post, and a composed finish for his goal, thought it was a good outing. Yes, he made some mistakes, but it's a different game when you're trying to find a killer pass or cross in a packed penalty area. The lad did well.
  13. Hats off to Alan Pace, the Dingles have gone from being one of the best run clubs in the Premier league, with nigh on £100 million in the bank, to being 10's of millions in debt, sold all their best players and are below us in the Championship. Despite all this, their fans are up and down as if Christmas has come early, and are buying their worst home shirt in history in record numbers. He's some salesman is Alan.
  14. I've no idea what he wants, it was just what I thought was a sensible suggestion. I've always thought he's a good player and would tick multiple boxes.
  15. Fair enough. It's seemed an obvious one to me since Burnley released him. Never saw him have a bad game for the Dingles.
  16. If we were winning last 10 minutes, I'd throw about 10 towels all around the pitch, and I'd wipe the ball at every throw in and goal kick. Let's see how that goes down.
  17. We need experienced cover at left back/ centre half, on a free? Erik Pieters, no brainer.
  18. Absolutely, I'll be there on Wednesday and I'm quite looking forward to seeing the academy lads in action against a senior team. They were good to watch at Stanley. The line up will show us how seriously Tomasson takes the league Cup, regardless of whether we get a result or not. Personally, I'm happy with whatever side he feels is best to benefit the League position. A win, though, could be beneficial to getting some minutes into more legs.
  19. Went to Preston last season and Hedges was our best player, he also had a decent game at Birmingham. He's carrying on where he left off last season.
  20. That's both games that we've seen Rovers keep a clean sheet and play out the last few minutes calmly, virtually without incident. Can't help thinking that losing Lenihan might well be a factor.
  21. As Broughton and Tomasson eluded to when they first came in, they've inherited a young, hungry, talented squad which just needs a bit of fine tuning. JDT isn't daft, he wouldn't have taken over just anywhere, the foundations are in place.
  22. Cracking start to the season, the whole squad looks young and hungry. Another 2 or 3 hand picked, quality signingsand keep Brereton and Tomasson will be licking his lips. Hedges with another man of the match performance for me, to go with last week's. The Edun substitution worked to perfection.
  23. As far as I can see, Erik Pieters is still without a club. As a free agent, he'd be a strong, experienced addition.
