  1. Blackburn Rovers v Valencia: LIVE match & score updates | Lancashire Telegraph
  2. 🤣 I'm not sure who that reflects most badly on! Getting caught cracking one off to MoTD must have been a tough one to explain 🙂
  3. Cantwell was obviously a quality player at one time, and he's only 24. For £2m it would be a gamble worth taking. Just not sure where he'd play? He was an attacking CM when he was getting rave reviews.
  4. Rothwell played in a 3 last season when he was playing well iirc. Totally different game playing in a 2 with the way we now play. Rothwell would have a lot more defensive responsibilities and wouldn't be able to run with the ball much (not the JDT way). He'd be more suited to the Dack/smods role now. So apples and oranges really.
  5. Don't really know much about xg but the stat above is our actual average shots per game
  6. I see. We won't miss any of them from a 1st team perspective so it's good that we're clearing the decks.
  7. I may have missed some but only thought Annesley and Hirst have gone?
  8. He can't be all that if Wigan want him and he's prepared to go there
  9. Lorenzo Amoruso's Rangers wish as defender reflects on 'reluctant' transfer to Blackburn Rovers - Football Scotland "I left Rangers reluctantly. I never wanted to leave, because I'd hoped to finish my career at Ibrox" I also wish he'd finished his career at Ibrox.
  10. Wonder if 'Browny' is being recalled to go elsewhere or to play a part with us? Never seen him play.... I've heard when he get's on the good foot he's decent, but he's poor on his weaker side.
  11. Yeah, I think their manager has said he wants 4 new players in before they play us.
  12. You can't force contracted players out. So it's hardly irrelevant. There were rumours of bids for both Nyambe and Lenihan (Sheff Utd) 2/3 years ago, but how do we know at that point the players wanted to leave? And how do we know the bids reflected market value? We don't, so a lot of assumptions are being made. What complicates the Rothwell bid is that we were 2nd at the time of the apparent bid by B'mouth and if we had sold him there would have been uproar, especially if we couldn't replace him adequately due to the wage demands of those we were interested in replacing him with. With BBD, Venky's set a price in the summer and it wasn't met. Whether that price was realistic, and whether clubs actually bid the £8.6m that was rumoured, we don't know. BBD holds all the cards, he knows running down his contract means he can potentially pick up a bigger wage if no transfer fee is involved. The trouble with BBD is he wasn't worth offering a new contract to until 18 months ago, then he became a global star overnight. I can imagine what the advice was off his agent, and I bet it wasn't sign the Rovers contract! Since GB/JDT rocked up the club appears to be making a concerted effort to implement the 'sustainable' plan. Players like Buckley, Phillips and Batty signing up long-term is a huge boost. It's been amateur hour at Ewood for 12 long years. I hope we now have a plan in place and the right people in place to implement it. We shall see.
  13. Interest in Mola from another Championship club. Sounds like he may be off too.
  14. Now you're just being silly. They offered Rothwell and Lenihan new contracts on better terms. Same with BBD. We can't compete on wages with the likes of Boro and B'mouth. These are the facts.
  15. Oh, the way you were criticising the club I thought you were privy to all the finer details of the contract discussions. My mistake😋 And I never said the club never gets it wrong. Apart from that, good post😁
  16. "It’s a difficult window the January window especially if you can’t cope with the salary demands because we want to get players in to help the team and get better as a club. We’ll be looking at all departments and see what we can choose. If there’s one attacking player going out then we need to get one player in of course.” Tomasson has spoken openly about the January window, despite deflecting many of the questions to Rovers’ director of football Gregg Broughton when it came to the summer window. The head coach sees it as a real opportunity for Rovers to strengthen, and not simply because of their league position. Rovers’ transfer budget was set at the start of the season, so any funds remaining from the summer window, when around £4.5m was spent, will be free to use this month. That doesn’t leave the club with much wriggle room and needing to be creative in their dealings, with Tomasson previously hinting that agreements such as the one which saw Ryan Hedges arrive 12 months ago being a potential model to follow. 'We need' - Jon Dahl Tomasson gives Blackburn Rovers transfer update | Lancashire Telegraph
  17. That doesn't fit my narrative. Stop it.
  18. At O/T the team just retreated into their own box for 90 mins and got dicked. Dreadful tactics, but Sam liked to choose his games. Very much a %'s manager. Parallels with JDT.
  19. We got dicked 7-1 at Man U, which was the equivalent in terms of local derbies back then. Sam surrendered quite a few times away from home. So, yeah, that's another parallel.
  20. Lots of parallels with Big Sam. Complaints about the football but winning close games, mainly at home, without conceding.
