  1. I'd have given them 10%, same as what we got, no arguments. Means they get more fans yes, but nothing daft like 7,000 of them. Shouldn't be punished for having a bigger stadium and therefore being forced to give a huge away following, especially in such a big game. A few extra quid doesn't make sense. Can see why it's limited - no idea if police involved. Just hope it doesn't lead to a Rangers/Celtic style tit-for-tat over allocation with each constantly getting lower allocations each game. I'm glad we haven't rolled out the red carpet, that's for sure.
  2. Lots of debate over Morton, with a smattering of fans online saying he's just a young lad, everybody makes mistakes etc etc. I am absolutely furious with him. He actually had an okay game and contributed towards our 2nd goal, but the theatrics were absolutely ridiculous. He had the ball and diving around under little-to-no contact cost us possession, gave them loads of space and it led to the goal. Then he had the nerve to (no doubt out of embarrassment) stay down for a good minute or so after the goal still clutching his face. I thought it was absolutely pathetic - I remember shouting at him immediately after to get back up and I stand by it.
  3. Why not Norwich? We've beaten them twice in their own backyard. Sunderland have just been there and turned them over as well. Burnley is a very tough game, but home games (especially given our home record) should all be targeted as wins, even if a draw isn't necessarily a bad result.
  4. I was thinking the same myself - it's hard enough to find somewhere half decent as a Rovers fan!
  5. Is this confirmed? It's good to see the club stand firm on this and not give them the advantage of a 7,000 strong Darwen End. I expected something closer to 5k though with the first 5 rows taped off. Seen lots of 'Burnley fans in home ends' posts. As Longsiders said above, it's a tale as old as time. I personally couldn't think of anything worse than being sat mute besides rival supporters when you could watch it in the pub surrounded by like minded folk. Ironically, the Burnley fans talking about the chaos of Burnley fans descending en masse to Blackburn and the resultant trouble are undermining their own case for a big allocation - I vaguely see their point regarding smaller allocation = more chance of fans in the home end, but thinly veiled threats about trouble in Blackburn town centre justifies a smaller allocation. I'd personally have said 3,000 or so would have been fair, same proportion as we got there.
  6. A lot stay in England, but even within England an English manager hasn't won the Premier League ever (I don't think). Not sure who the last top division winner with an English manager - maybe Howard Wilkinson?
  7. Very excited for this one. Toying with the idea of official travel, but if anyone has any alternative coaches running then please drop me a message and I'll speak to the people I'm attending with to see what they fancy.
  8. Very true! Shows the power of football and the other forces for good it can provide. Sorry to hear about Mrs R0verb0y. 💙
  9. My Dad used to always comment on how my sister being born made him miss a Shearer hat trick at home to Bolton. Us football fans aren't wired up right are we? 😅 Brilliant 🤣 had a great chuckle at this
  10. Me saying 'soon' was over-egging it a touch, it's September 2024! It's on a Friday so sure my wife-to-be won't mind me nipping to the Rovers on Saturday....
  11. I love Dack and was his greatest advocate when he wasn't (and when he was) being picked, but he currently wouldn't start even if fully fit. Szmodics has the shirt for now, and him and Dolan's relentless pressing, energy and link up seems our best bet. That being said, what a great option to have off the bench if Szmodics suffers a dip in form or if there's fitness issues. Dack was certainly our best player for a bit, but the team have been much better the last few games and this has come from the long awaited high, aggressive press we have adopted. I'm not sure that suits Dack. If Dack plays, we either modify our approach slightly or shuffle the pack slightly to ensure someone else is replacing the incessant work rate of Szmodics.
  12. Don't worry, I'm an honourable man..... although you're giving me ideas 🤣 I do fear a potential pre-emptive strike. I'll be shocked if there isn't at least one dig in his speech.... his internet banking reference is '3-0 should have been 8' which tells its own story. The old 5-0 and 34 year digs certainly coming back to haunt me.
  13. Fair enough - I don't see any 'Tik Tok' detectives, this is people who have seen the footage in question and who have empirical evidence of what happened commenting on the media coverage and reaction to the incident. Nobody is trying to change the narrative either - I am just keen that this incident doesn't further poison the atmosphere when they come to Ewood, as I'd hate to see some innocent supporter fall victim and further exacerbate what is already a tragic incident. It only takes a few idiots to try and get retribution (and generalising Burnley fans as 'murderers' as some idiots have won't help with that), so see no harm in people commenting and trying to avoid further tragedy. As you've said, fighting at football is foolish and lives have been ruined. My best friend and soon to be best man at my wedding is a Dingle, and whilst I hope they lose every game for the rest of their existence I feel no need to resort to violence or wish physical harm on any of their supporters. Comparing it to the abhorrent Nicola Bulley online behaviour is absolute nonsense too.
  14. I believe the man in question has been charged with manslaughter - it's hard to tell on the video, but I think it's the man who punches him who 'knocks him out' initially - another man goes to kick him but think he's already out. As already noted, the bang to the head on the floor is what has likely done the damage. It appears to be an unfortunate incident - yes, the Burnley fan was definitely game for a scrap, and was in and amongst it all throughout the video. However, it is even more clear that Blackpool fans instigated the altercation, unless (and I find very unlikely) they happened to walk past and be set about by Burnley fans. All information I've seen suggested Blackpool fans attacked the pub, probably hoping numbers would be more favourable than if they'd tried that pre-game. From what I've seen, I wouldn't like to see the fella go down for manslaughter, but think the law is quite strict (and perhaps harsh) on cases like this. Someone with more knowledge of the law might help more on this. Coventry fans definitely have some brass neck suggesting that - my only experience of football violence was when being attacked by some of their idiots last year. And I've seen enough idiocy from Rovers fans, including some scrotes who were setting about some Wigan fans not too long ago. I sincerely hope it's a wake up call for some. Some young kids seem keen to glorify and glamorise football violence, when the only results are lengthy (and perhaps unjust) jail sentences, banning orders, handing in your passport when England play and the risk of death or serious injury.
  15. The first 20-25 minutes of the 2nd half was as impressive as I've seen us in a long time - as good as, if not better than Leicester. I was braced for a Sheffield United onslaught but we absolutely battered them with some old fashioned arte et labore - intricate passing complemented by outbattling them and absolutely running ourselves into the ground. Sorba Thomas epitomised that as well as anyone.
  16. Exactly. I've sadly seen the video (I didn't know it was the video of the incident in question) , and it's apparent that a group of Blackpool fans attacked the pub. Second hand accounts indicate this has happened before - usually after the game when there's a smaller away presence. It has always been an away pub and is designated by the police as such, and I presume any Blackpool fans would know this. I'm shocked there wasn't a police presence at the pub given the amount of Burnley fans who visited. Clearly the man did not deserve what happened and it's absolutely tragic, but I'll be conscious of avoiding labelling or blaming the Burnley fanbase for this incident. It was a stupid fight that *all* parties should have avoided, and shows the dangers of fighting - one punch can kill.
  17. I must admit that whilst he's been poor, I don't buy he's looked disinterested. He's been criticised by many for too often being in the left back position, which was the result of chasing back too much. To me, he's put effort in but just hasn't had the quality to go with it unlike last year - although appreciate people may disagree and I don't catch 90 mins of every game!
  18. Sunderland 1-5 Stoke - surely Sunderland's top 6 race is run Big result at Millwall. Coventry making a late run.
  19. Sunderland thumped at home. As per the above, consistent and predictable. A slight delay this year due to the World Cup.
  20. A superb, spirited performance vs a very strong side. The entire defence superb - Carter is a real unsung hero at the moment. Travis all-action, Buckley assured on the ball, Thomas absolutely relentless and does so much for the team. Szmodics and Dolan deserve another shout out, they link up so well. And then Gally. He sometimes lacks quality but the heart and commitment he showed today was superb and helped the two players behind him to shine. And who can forget Pears? Looks totally assured. Over the moon. We passed it well, we played balls in behind, we went long when we needed to - no longer are we slow and predictable. Very proud of the team and hope everyone has a lovely evening.
  21. Sadly Saturday is another rail strike day, so quite selfishly would fancy a Sunday game.
  22. Mowbray *did* a good job, but he should have gone long before he did. The air of inevitability about our post-Xmas collapse was depressing, and he sounded bloody miserable for a lot of the latter parts of his tenure. JDT has been a weird one. When it's been bad, it's been absolutely god awful. But as I've said before, we'd inexplicably win the week after - no death spirals, just a weird resilience. And suddenly, the penny has dropped. Whether it's dropped for JDT or the players I don't know, but we suddenly an aggressive team out of possession, much more pragmatic on the ball, we pass it a lot quicker and manage to look less predictable. It seemed to coincide with signing Thomas and suddenly making the pitch look bigger, but it continued in his absence on Tuesday. I felt Tuesday's performance was as good as I've seen us play in years, and the fans responded in kind. I've given JDT some stick in the past for some abject displays (although haven't called for his head - didn't agree with that) but you can't fault being 4th in the league, performing well in the cups and well in the hunt with 12 games to go. Something has clicked at the perfect time.
  23. One thing I’ll say - JDTs blue and white army flows much less than Tomasson’s blue and white army. I lost that battle in summer sadly.
  24. It's one of those weird mentality things - we'll sell a good amount (seen 2,500 banded about, one journalist/JDT says 3,000), but if it was initially sold as a 5,000 allocation, it seems to weirdly get people excited about a huge away end and ticket sales seem to follow. I can fully understand why the club didn't snap up the full whack at once, mind, but I do reckon announcing a bigger allocation initially would have got more on the bandwagon. Either way, looking forward to a great night. Hoping we give a good account of ourselves - as other posters have mentioned, resting players for Forest didn't do us much good in the league, so hopefully any changes aren't too wholesale.
