I’d take Ohashi every time as he cost a fifth of what Gueye cost and he’s twice the player. Gestede is a novice who appears to have very poor judgement when it comes to recruitment. He shouldn’t be a lead on anything.

You missed the point. There is a transfer committee. Gestede chose Gueye and Mofoumbi (sp?). Others on the committee chose the other players. Since Park has left, Jackson has confirmed Gestede now ‘leads’ on recruitment. Hence my fear we may get more Gueye’s than Ohashi’s.

If Beck or Cantwell had taken their chances he would have been writing a different story about how resilient we are and how quickly we’ve bounced back from the disappointment of losing a lead against Sunderland. That’s how journo’s work. He’s just stating the obvious anyway. We all know we need reinforcements. Our ‘big money’ summer striker signing has been a huge flop so we need another. We didn’t get the two wingers we needed in the summer so we still need another. It’s common knowledge the manager wants those positions filled as a priority. The point being the transfer window hasn’t even opened yet and the excitable sorts have already written off the season. That’s just silly.
