He’s playing it clever. He’s put all the onus on the dickheads running the club to make him a contract offer he can’t refuse, and offer him assurances on budget. It’s on them that he’s even considering leaving. So it’s right they’ll be accountable if he does go.

That was the sticking point with JDT summer before last. They refused to let him leave, and he refused to buy out his own contract. Its a bit different if Derby have met the release clause in JE’s contract.
