2025 Summer Transfer Thread. π

Wouldn't surprise me if there's various staff names on the payroll who nobody knows what they actually do. An 'adviser' on ten grand a week, that sort of thing. -
Blackburn Rovers spend on agents fee

Both Badu and the other fella are directors and are financial people on behalf of Venkys, please point me to what else they are if they aren't that ? I'll reiterate, just how many financial people does one football club need, way too many layers at this club that leads to constant confusion as we've seen. -

How many financial directors does a club need ? There was Charlie Cheston also before he left so that's 3 finance men plus the Chief Operating bean counter Suhail and Waggot himself. Plus i presume club accountants and payroll officers. -

Possibly, i think they took a 30% wage deferral but don't forget Rovers were still paying off some previously sacked people back then. I just remember him banging on and 4 million sticks in the mind and there was also talk of a weekly wage budget for first team starters that meant players oddly left out occasionally. Either way they weren't paying first team wages of 16.8 million to that squad in league 1. -

The FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL WAGE BILL not the entire club. Mowbray himself said they'd reduced it to something like 4 million in league 1, presumably taking into account the senior pros wage deferrals. -

Yep iv'e long said a glance at the true Blackburn Rovers payroll would be quite interesting. -

And we'd have been looking at a damn sight more than 18 million before add ons by now if he'd stayed. Absolute clown show running and owning this club and to think poor old Gregg the Egg thought he would be getting some spends from it as well. Instead he got his p45. -

How much does the actual first team wage bill cost ? Think it was as low as 4 million when we hit league one. -

Well it cost them a couple of million to replace him anyway with Hyam so they didn't save a bean. Looked a better player at first but defensively i don't think there's much between them, both good on their day but both with regular flaws. -

Disagree Whilst i wouldn't have been chucking silly money at him he's another who could have been tied down earlier for a more sensible offer, people have heard that from his own mouth. For an academy grad who cost nowt he was a rugged enough defender who might have commanded a modest fee at some point. I don't think anyone we've had since has been much better tbh. -

He'll turn out to be another one who they could've tied down on reasonable terms that might have given him a big pay hike but in the grand scheme of things wouldn't be much more than an average Championship contract. It'll come out way down the line after he's gone because he was low balled and his agent scoured around and found he could earn double figures sat on the bench at Stoke or somewhere. Straight out of the Lenihen playbook this one but no doubt Waggot will tell the gullible he was offered a bumper deal at the last min but his head was in the departure lounge. -

The number of players we've been linked to in the last 48 hrs is interesting it's almost like there's an effort being made to portray some effort. Wonder why that could be.... Meanwhile Nixon doing the usual dirty work advertising as many kids as he can for sale. -
I'd disagree about Darwen that's probably the strongest stronghold of Rovers support these days.

In terms of adult fans they don't even want to make an effort with people on their own doorstep. I'd wager the majority of match by match adult buyers over a season come from the borough so what over the years has been done to try and get these people buying ST's ? Nowt, because Waggot prefers a decent number paying full whack rather than guarantee their money and attendance at a cheaper rate. I suspect the years of neglect and 'come if you want to' attitude will come back to bite next season especially if the summer business and form are bad. Short term planning only ever delivers brief gains but long term it backfires when luck runs out.

Classic Rovers when all hope is lost and the last train has left the station. A very welcome result and performance all the same although it's just a bit of paper for the cracks. How long before the 'we'd have ripped someone's arm off for a 9th placed finish at the beginning of the season' style comments come pouring in π -

Might as well make the change this summer and flog him if there is interest then see how Toth goes. We ain't going anywhere so might as well have another keeper learning on the job in the hope he turns out better. -

As i speculated a while ago someone will buy Pears for a modest fee and this lot are desperate for brass this summer. 750k plus add on's goes some way towards a lack of ST income headache. -
If you're a kid in Chorley you need an adult to take you to Blackburn Rovers 12 miles away and they will have to pay full price. That's an issue. The Ewood Express should extend from Blackburn right across the Brinscall, Chorley, Euxton. Whittle, Bamber Bridge and even Leyland areas.

'Attend if you want to, we aren't arsed £££' is the motto on the Swaghail crest. -
Chorley has been lost to Bolton Wanderers and PNE now sadly due to lack of effort on the clubs behalf over the last decade. Plenty Rovers fans still in the area and lapsed fans but youngsters are leaning towards the other two now because they've been in schools over the last decade and guess what, they both reduced season ticket early birds at least 100 quid cheaper for adults than Rovers. Followed up by leaflet drops and adverts in local papers and it worked. When Rovers did good ST offers pre Venkys there were adverts on the sides of buses and taxis across the Preston and Chorley areas but under Waggots 'leadership' these areas are now ignored. He should have been all over it after promotion from league 1 and 25k home fans in v Oxford, that was the time to strike but no, nothing.

157,000 people now in the borough of BBwD and a football club that used to average c22k home fans until this ownership began it's reign of nonsense. Always one of the best supported clubs in England from its locality but now can only manage 4k full adult over 23 season tickets. Yes they are a commercial disaster, the people are there the fans are still there as certain crowds at Ewood show but they don't matter anymore. The club has given up on it's own fans in favour of kiddies and fleecing its remaining hardcore, what other commercial managers in the country would ignore what it has on its own doorstep just so it can guarantee one level of income from c10k people every year ? Absolutely shocking but they just throw their hands in the air 'we've done all we can'.

Venkyβs (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas
Tomphil2 replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He was saying the same to Preston fans when it was Lowe out Lowe in every other week. Very much speaks from inside footballs old boys network and you know when he's going out on a limb there's an agency connection somewhere. Literally EVERY Rovers fan should block the fat gimp, when was the last time he paid to watch a live game ? 1979 probably. -
Venkyβs (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas

The platforms they've had to build on in recent years with just a bit of regular investment and ambitious stewardship are what we've waited for ever since relegation in 2012. Mowbray after 4 years finally gets his act together and delivers a play off push but falls short due to shallow squad so they rip that up and go down a different route. To everyone's surprise it works great for a year so what do they do, allow that to go to shit then have to bring in a firefighter. He shows the right way for a club like this but can't push it because of the same issues the previous two had so he jumps ship but leaving us in 5th. So yeah they pull that to bits and install the latest installed puppets very own puppet and we are by the looks of it right back to the final summer of TM where more budget cuts and a transition to youth, freebies became priority. Unreal. -

To be fair they probably spent whatever loose change there was left in the calculations after budgeting past, present and future transfer income for wages and bills. Didn't they say there was enough to cover it for the next twelve months or so ? I expect the Venky brand will shove in a bit more sponsorship money to top it off but of course the ever lasting court case and guarantees will be the reason VH group doesn't slap in its now legendary annual 20 mill.
