2025 Summer Transfer Thread. π
Tomphil2 replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Thought the defence did well and Toth kept us in the game i don't think it's wrong to say if Pears was in there we are beaten soundly. Angry at the silly passing it around under pressure at the back rearing its ugly head again That will cost a needless goal soon enough, cut it out it doesn't make great footballers out of average ones it just causes steady ones to dither.. Football wise and attacking wise i thought we were crap the pressing was pedestrian and passing/shape disjointed for most of it. At least Kargbo has a go and provides an outlet i think if we started him yesterday he puts WBA on the backfoot from the off whereas instead they took early control. In the end couldn't have moaned at a draw if we pinched it but overall probably a fair result and i think this new look side is going to take a while to find its feet. You can feel the undercurrent of concern in the fans who were rather subdued imo given the number there and the lid will come off guaranteed up we don't get a few wins under our belts. -

When you somehow managed to finish knocking seriously on the door of the play offs 3 out of the last 4 seasons why would you need a complete root and branch reset and clearing of the decks ? Surely it requires a try and build on that year on year approach with as few sales as possible and moderate investment in weak areas whilst FFP allows ? Just seems to me they think balls to that we can go with a much cheaper higher staff turnover sales model and still land safely in midtable every year. Crazy, ambitionless, serves only those who want an easy life and those who gain commissions and above all is dangerous to remaining at this level. -

Yet swathes or should i say throngs of the remaining fanbase still lap it up especially after the LT bots do their propaganda as well. -

The club didn't want to pay contracts of 10k pwk or more to them i assume. If Suhail is saying spending big money doesn't guarantee higher league position you can bet the thinking is same with the wages. At some point this man will drag this club back into league 1 in the near future i'd say that IS guaranteed. -

Whether they were offered contracts or not the outcome is the same, they left or will leave so there are deep issues involved obviously. For what it's worth the Nyambie, Lenihen, BBD scenario's played out the same over a similar period and they all left as well. We heard the same stuff they were offered great deals - at the 11th hour once their ahents had something else lined up. Same pattern at play, same narrative created of blame all the players, same guy in the shadows being unaccountable yet letting the same things happen over and over. Some might say him and his bosses are the real problem. -

You've got to hand it to ChatGP it's a hell of a lot more detail than the usual back of a fag packet stuff Waggot scribbled down. We'll probably end up with an AI virtual CEO. To say though that it's yet another patronising crock of crap is an understatement but never mind we'll roll it out alongside Alan Shearer and everything is fine. -
It's very evident this Suhail guy isn't a football person and despite being here a decade and possible affiliation with that agent/agency nobody has heard of he's still way out of his depth. Just a pounds and pence balance sheet man who looks and talks on everything in numbers, the lower the better it seems so it's no wonder they want to shrink the whole thing to a size they can easily manage. The prospect of trying to go the other way is not only beyond them but clearly terrifying.
-
Waggot will be on gardening leave until his notice period ends which means he'll still be getting paid. I'd wager he walked into this job worth a few hundred grand and has walked away a millionaire so will he give a toss ? No chance, he'll say nothing and probably realise he's better off out of it once the dust settles.
-
Hey look iv'e increased ticket income in my first season in the job and if crowds are down over the season we'll need a few less staff so iv'e cut costs as well. That'll look good on his cv when he's begging Arsenal for a job. Have no fear though Yasir these things have a habit of biting you on the arse. It's crystal clear Suhail is as iv'e long suspected the main problem here i'm absolutely astounded he let Mowbray go as that kind of shield and plodding along is exactly what he is all about. There must've been a falling out or hes had a brainstorm that he could do it cheaper with a head coach model unless he was told from above things had to change. He is imo the chief architect of the shoulder shrugging attitude that has been obvious here for a decade. Cut prices 'what's the point we won't double the gates'. Invest year on year 'what's the point it doesn't guarantee anything' - Well it might effing well do if you backed the right man ! Promotion ? 'what's the point we'll only get relegated straight away, might as well sit in the league as long as we can for as cheap as we can'. It's no wonder half the fanbase says 'what's the point' !
-
So he's now saying he is accountable as well for all the non contract re-signings and lost revenue ? Surely the owners should now be asking him serious questions on that. No wonder hes been hiding in the shadows so long he's clearly full of shit or has no grip whatsoever on what goes on and does he care as long as he gets paid and has a jolly time of it ?

We start with Travis and Trondstat and try and get as many points as possible on the board first few months then gradually integrate a new look midfield. Trav is ok with this as they've a gentleman's agreement he'll see out his contract and leave or be sold/loaned in Jan if he's out of the team. Or is that far too sensible. -

In a football sense it's probably not that hard to replace Trav but you can't buy instantly the other stuff he brings and with so many changes this summer it's more vital than ever to have someone pulling it all together on and off the park. -

They come out the blocks at us i expect but that might suit big Vals Rovers if he's trying to recreate the Barnsley effect here although losing CB is a blow to that. If we get the defence/counter balance right we might get something although i do worry about the Hyam and new lad partnership. WBA 2 Rovers 2 -

The Derby lot running around giving it large on X have gone quiet recently. Especially the few that i had to point out to that Brittain begged for Boro over them, Dolan snubbed them for some warm weather, Travis was seeing out his contract and in reality all they'd got from us was two guys who never really got offered proper contracts here π€£ Not as massive as they thought they were. Nothing against Derby, good club, big club and i like Eustace, Batth and Weimann but man i hope they flop next season they are followed by the biggest bunch of clowns since Coventry rose from the dead. -

Hedges has been a good squad man you need honest grafters like him in this league and i don't think he was signed as anything other than that. So iv'e never really expected a great deal and he had some good performances when he first established himself but injuries and consistency went against him. In truth hes only been involved so much because of the year on year budget cuts. He's one who has probably benefited from that. -

Yeah if there was a complaint to be made towards JDT and Eustace it was they lacked flexibility, certainly JDT did and Eustace was often reluctant to change. Maybe Ismael will mix it up a bit more according to opposition. -

And he's got rid of the other bloke who challenged him ! I suspect it's same as everything else down there, Gestede like Waggot will have license to negotiate a fee/wages up to a certain low level but the final say will still come from high command. -

It might have released room on the wage bill but Rudy Gestede said sales would make no difference to this transfer budget. That could mean they weren't relying on sales this time or it could mean there is a set amount then that is it regardless of sales. -
Digital bollox. Now just think though if ST 's were reasonable for a town like Blackburn there'd be a late run now the incoming's have got interesting.

The real test of all these out of the country newbies even if they can match the physical stuff is the mental side of it. A goal down inside 10 mins at a place like a buzzing Hawthorns against a strong side or two down at home to a Birmingham side with an extra 4k tourists behind the goal they are attacking ! The Ewood jury will sniff out the men from the boys pretty quickly.
