The January 2026 Transfer Window

Bollocks total classic BRFCS revisionism again. You wouldn't want any of them but if they were here now they'd absolutely have been in the team before him do to other things they contributed. He plundered a few goals last season but has done jack all else in his time here and couldn't even figure out what offside was. He's so much better than them he's been bombed out to a tinpot outpost league. Honestly some people on here can't see further than their own hooters at times, not a personal dig by the way. -

Nah both contributed more in terms of play than he was ever capable of i'm afraid. Of course strikers are judged on goals but their jobs were foil for Rhodes and the others, Gueye couldn't even foil the linesman's flag. I'd put either of those in this team before him without doubt because he couldn't even manage the 'defensive striker' role under Ismael. -

Well i actually watched them and despite both being less goal threat they were all round more capable team players than this lad. If he was so much more of a player than those two i doubt the appearances and any other stats aside from a few goals back it up. Fortunately for the other two their managers judged them on different metrics because we already had goals in the team. -

Yeah a bright character who brought a bit of light relief for a spell if not goals and the type of player who needs a Eustace or an Allardyce to have any sniff of success. However truth be told very poor standard of player who didn't even use the physical talents he did have to the best of his efforts. Worse without doubt than Chris Brown or Luke Varney but got away with it due to fan bonding and plundering the odd goal last year. -
Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
Tomphil2 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Which again comes back to schoolboy planning and recruitment by the pair of clowns in head office. Before you take into account a head coach with a style that will lead to more soft tissue injuries and players not used to this league or that work load. -

Like when the Qatari's were on the phone to Anderson is one of the lounges at Ewood but Balaji said no ? Or when Red Bull were on their way over to buy an English club and Rovers kit was the best match ? -

This is the problem now they are clearly being beasted in training and games to the detriment of playing some actual football. Hence the fatigue and constant massive injury list. We've gone from JDT trying to play total football from his own penalty area to a guy who just wants to pin opponents in their own box for 95 mins as a form of defending from the front. We certainly have defensive strikers ! -

Nothing to see here i'd wager. The one and only chance anyone, billionaire Arab or local pie shop millionaire, have of getting past first base is to make direct contact with the head of the ownership. I'd suggest that is nigh on impossible unless you move in the same circles, due to the amount of buffers in place and people who'll deflect it in their own interests. Or of course maybe offer the middleman a nice fat juicy introduction fee..... -

Scouts will know exactly the ball park figures in regards to the cost of the players they are required to scout. If a club, agent or player makes bigger demands once the ball is rolling that's on them. -
It would be more acceptable if those who caused it all and those who profit from it cleared off never to be seen again. A cleansing of all the underlying toxicity gone for good and hopefully a rebuild of some sort however modest.

Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach

Ismael is aligned with Gestede and Gestede is aligned with Suhail, He'll be so aligned with these lot and their project he got presented a 3 year plus deal on probably a modest wage but bonus incentives to develop and sell and promote academy players. Remember him saying he'd be happy to sacrifice transfer money to fix the pitch ? Any other manager or head coach would be pleading with their owners to dip into their own pockets and sort it for the good of the club, not here though. -

I don't think anyone is labelling him the second coming but to many he had enough about him to be kept around. By rights he should've been loaned to Posh and he'd be recalled now fit and ready to have another go. However it seems Gestede was actively trying to sell him and even offered him to Peterbrough for less than they were prepared to go to to get him. -

And in summer they'll reduce it further by Trons, Cantwell leaving and selling Toth for a few quid. They'll then assume the advancement of last summers signings being another year experienced and more youth in the squad will be enough to stay up next season. Before they start selling that lot off to pay the bills. -

Not the point i was making. 'Struggled with the step up' The point is they are no use to us right now and all need to be on loan getting used to mens football. Meanwhile Harry Leonard used correctly would have been very useful to have around this season but like Gueye his running/pressing stats wouldn't have impressed Ismael. Regardless of the fact we need someone with a bit of poaching/movement in the box nous whilst Andre is missing. -

Well he's fit now and he cost us nothing but hey why keep an instinctive developing young forward on peanuts when you can get rid and bring in an AI stats signing. -

What i gleaned from today more than anything is there are no goals in our young forwards who all struggled with the step up despite working hard. I fear they like a lot of others are being judged on running stats rather than footballing ability. Now if only we had a lad around the place like that young Leonard at Peterbrough ! -

Maybe it's because they have to bypass those in the middle who filter information back to India to serve their own purposes. -

I can't complain too much i wanted a rest for everyone possible and wanted to see the squad men and youngsters given a good run. Also couldn't give a stuff about the cup this season nor the thousands who only turn up for a big cup game, even if we are doing ok in the league. The money is also irrelevant this season as keeping Championship status and revenue is paramount. Good also that this should see Toth regain his No1 status because the next few months are the last we will see of him. Also at the end of the day we lost because we can't score penalties. -

The new brains trust inside Ewood thinks it's being clever operating a two for the price and wages of one policy all across the squad. We are seeing the benefits of that this season but it's ok it's working, they might make 800k on Gueye ! -
Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
Tomphil2 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think we've seen enough now to be clear we need a change of approach and tactics it just isn't working aside from the odd win that comes out of the blue. Yes we know what he's up against but his tactics are all wrong for a club and team in our situation. He has the team running on empty by half time every game and the goal attempts/corners/set piece/chances created column rarely ever has more than one or two entries in it. -

Said this several times before but today summed it up more than ever, as did the Sheff Weds game, too much emphasis in the 'press tactics' and not enough on the creative football. Obvious why we are collecting knocks and niggles like a shopaholic collects clubcard points. Out of steam after 35 mins every game, knackered in the second half, players dropping on 70 mins, raft of subs and they all do the same things as the ones gone off. He needs to start getting far more tactically astute we still have out best football countering or playing between the lines. This defending relentlessly from the front is good if you are playing very dangerous sides and you need to jump on them but it creates nothing and as teams suss it out second half of the season it will be way too dangerous. Also on the creative/goalscoring side of things we are seeing exactly what paying seniors £5k a week and throwing in rookies gets you. Can't even score penalities. -

I don't believe the fat mans spin we are making much profit on Gueye's initial transfer nobody is that stupid. There'll be a monumental set of add ons to that revolving around appearances and goals. -
Not the best examples to be honest as with exception of Exeter having the biggest day out of their lives the other are big/huge fanbase clubs who fill allocations most weeks. They could often take a lot more but don't get the tickets until cup rules allow. I think a look at home fan turnouts across the weekend will tell the real story and even then there are often big ticket discounts to take into consideration. I doubt there'll be 20k at Hull City tomorrow.

They remain convinced that big crowds under this lot would automatically mean better players, wages payable and form. Somehow they chose to miss the rather obvious correlation that wages cuts, player sales, doubling of losses and managed decline began the min they took over with gates of 25k and Prem/Parachute income. Ok a lot are too young to remember or maybe grasp these very basic facts but the others ... ? They are in their own world of denial for some reason.- 5437 replies
