  1. I wouldn’t class Heskey as someone who never quite made it. For a player of fairly l8mited ability he had a fantastic career. Played in the top flight year after year and won 62 England caps.
  2. Dynamo Moscow aren't the kind of club we should be celebrating being linked to, although linked to them we are because of Harry Charnock. As in most Eastern European countries the Dynamo team represented the army and were given favours by the establishment to win things and keep the army on top. After the fall of the USSR, similarly to the other Dynamos, they have fallen on hard times and even been out of the top division at times. Last season they finished mid-table but haven't won the league for a long time. nasty club backed by neo-fascist thugs.
  3. What? Really? What a strange thing to say. Each to their own opinion because it can’t be tested.
  4. Sorry but this is an oft trotted out and really meaningless argument. if Celtic were moved into the EPL they would have hunners of millions of pounds to spend and would have a completely different team to the 1 they have now so any prediction to where they would finish is meaningless. They would also have a huge worldwide support and a weekly gate of 60,000 so the building blocks would be there to be as successful as anyone else in that league. Hopefully it will never happen but it's clear that if they moved down south they would be up there challenging within a few years, especially if they got the investment that some others have had. Not in any way a Celtic fan myself but they would be a huge draw for investment with their overseas reach, way more than a Man City or a Chelsea.
  5. So your so unobsessed with it your still commenting?
  6. Well done Dryhorse for standing up for Scotland against the unexplained hostility and vitriol of the rest of this board. I don't get why English people have to go so far out their way to run down the Scottish league. it's strange, if you're league is so great why do you all seem so obsessed about ours. It's the equivalent of us in Scotland spending a lot of time having a go at the Irish league because our league is better. get over it, both leagues exist and have their own merits. if you want to see plastic, corporate football the English league is the place to be, if not there's plenty more out their. There may not be the quality but that doesn't make it any less worth watching.
  7. Whatever anyone says about fitba the fact is that Scotland has the highest attendances at football per capita in the world and has had since anyone can remember. That may be hard for people to accept but it is a fact. There’s a lot wrong with the product but it’s obviously not all bad as that amazing fact bears out. Yes English football is of a higher standard but that has been hugely exaggerated in the modern era due to the money available while when things were more even back in the 80s there wasn’t that much between the 2 leagues. Followers of English football should stop sneering and think about the ills of your own crime and corruption riddled league before having a go at other supposedly inferior leagues. And by the way the last month or so this year the SPL was exciting and competitive, unlike the EPL which seemed dull and predictable in comparison. Maybe you should adopt a split system as well.
  8. Stephen Ireland, I had forgotten he existed. What a symptom of the modern game he is. He's nearly 32, has played at the top level for 13 seasons and yet has amassed less than 250 league appearances. Just over 100 games in 8 years, 4 games in the last 2 years. he's probably forgotten how to play football by now and yet he's no doubt has been trousering £40K a week while doing it. The game is broken!
  9. Watt was after Mowbray's time at Celtic. Surely no-one would seriously suggest we sign him now would they? We've just been promoted to the 2nd Division, not relegated to the local ale house league.

  11. Good points made about Mulgrew's fitness and capacity to play midfield in Championship. he is undoubtedly good enough but I tend to agree that he plays at the back because it is less demanding and suits his game better at this stage of his career. It would be madness to move him after the season he's had. Lots of Scottish players being suggested, maybe we have a mole from the Anderson camp in our midst?
