  1. Talking of Kasey Palmer, I notice that Tod Kane is currently on loan at Hull. he's 25 and is still under contract at Chelsea without ever playing a game for them. Sums up the situation really. Big clubs hoover up players and stash them in their academies where they rot away until no-one is prepared to loan them anymore. There needs to be a change in the rules because so many players are getting lost to the game because of this. Look at your national team's efforts ion the world cup where most of the top performers weren't players who had come through these elite academies despite us keep hearing how great they will be for the future of football.
  2. The Fall - Strange Town or The Jam if you prefer.
  3. Sly and the Family Stone- Family Affair (can’t thing of a Fall track)
  4. I really hope the Brereton deal doesn't turn out as bad as it seems so far as we can't afford that kind of money and certainly not for someone who isn't a first teamer. I think he has to play, even if it's not every game, he needs regular starts and if he's not getting that we might as well loan him out because he isn't going to improve as a young player by sitting on the bench every week for 75 minutes.
  5. Newcastle will rest a few with their relagation worries, surely we’ll play as strong a side as we have and try and get the job done. Can’t see anything other than a mid table season for us so this is the 1 chance this season of getting people excited so please don’t mess it up with too much tinkering. i hate the way that clubs nowadays care nothing for the glory and excitement of cup runs and see the league as the be all and end all. Purely based on profit for the owners, not a thought for the fans.
  6. Trains booked from Edinburgh. £24 return with a lie in for the late kick off. Good day in prospect, especially as we might not be right up in the gods like normal. Always a good day out in Newcastle.
  7. Winning games is rarely about dropping your best attacking player.
  8. The Brereton situation is bizarre. He may have massive potential but if we are going to be paying £7m on a player he needs to be in the first XI and regularly influencing games. If he’s not doing that then he’s not worth the money because it’s now that we need a striker not in 2 or 3 years time. If we had a load of spare cash we could invest in potential but we can’t do that with that kind of money for no immediate return, especially as the manager doesn’t think Graham can play every game. i can’t help thinking it’s a dodgy agent thing but is that just because I’m scarred after 8 years of the Vs.
