  1. The money has apparently run out and the club debt is scary. Just watch this space for the next years bust ups and some 30 something ex Rangers being signed and it'll all go pear shaped.
  2. Typical Welsh reaction this. Great nation spoilt by stupid petty squabbles over people who don't even live there!
  3. Mard Scottish Git who wanted to play 2 - 3 competative games a year. Imagine watching rovers play in the Northern Prem...no make that the west lancs league week in week out. Good riddance!
  4. It was the lack of information I found worrying. Is it his leg? is it his head? why does he need to be away from the club? He did say he hoped he'd be at the club next year but it doesn't look too good. Or is that me. Not too good a job from the commentator here methinks. Ask the bloody questions!
  5. Can't believe the critics on here. Hughes has picked the players he thinks will do a job. Given he wasn't left with much to start with I think the next big battle at Ewood will be to keep hold of him. Being honest about our team; - We have no flair players (Although Pederson has a wonderful persona and touch he ain't there yet) - We have no real strikers (Dickov just doesn't do it for me but he is all we have until one of the other forwards sort themselves out) - We have very little midfield flair (Tugay excepted but he is looking his age -he is 64 isn't he?) - We have no left back and dogy right back - A goalie who looks hamstrung (or has he always been left footed. - We have three excellent Centre Halfs And were on our way to Cardiff again. Hughes is doing a lot right in my opinion. We are never going to score bucketfulls but neither do Chelsea. And we do look very hard to beat now which hasn't been the case for about 8 years FFS. We know we have limitations but we only really need a couple of players in summer now and we'll fly. 5 months ago I wouldn't have given tuppence for our chances of staying up and thought the whole squad needed replacing. WHO GIVES ONE IF WE WIN ONE NIL AND IT'S SCRAPPY. JOIN ANOTHER BOARD Rant over (Can't wait to see Mokoena biting Roy Keanes legs -guy scares the £*&^ out of me! heh heh)
  6. I cannot believe some people on here have actually see Rovers play. flitty short tugay dikov enckelman jansen douglas matteo gresko betty gray add amorouso and savage (yes honestly). Looks about right but Savage is a league away the way both Flitcroft and Ried played Saturday. Douglas has played very well for us last season and is Premiership standard, I have not seen him have a bad game. Jansen is better than Dickov and and Dickov will always stop others from scoring and breaks up play constantly. Again IMO Jansen was playing well when he was injured. I have not seen any of the faults reported on here and unless he has a bad time after the game he is our best striker.
  7. Not looking forward to Dickov or Lilly coming back one bit. Arguing at every decision breaks the play up, get people up the refs noses, get bookings and niether look classy enough to get in the team that played Sunday. Hope that Hughes doesn't start playing favourites as thats where Souness fell down IMO.
  8. Good post seahawk dad. I seem to remember his name from USA BLue or some other US contributer over a year ago. I wonder if we're not overlauding the Premiership as few leave and do well in other leagues but the carefully chosen odd rugged type of player always seems to handle the prem. The first sea lord, Mokewena and Pederson might be enough to nick us a trophy this year, we'll score one and no-one's going to get much past these too. Soundest pairing for years and although Todds done well these too C/H's are both pacier, bigger better in the air and look comfy on the ball and can pass too. Just sort of puts the rest into perspectiv doesn't it if Todd (rightly) was so far above the rest of our squad!
  9. We're missing the point here. When he's been on and fit he scores. He has had a groin strain which needed an op before Christmas but looked lively enough to me. If we let him go consider this; He is currently our second best striker. Even this season he looked pacy, able to hold the ball and skillfull (something no other striker we have seems to have) Gallagher - gone to pot, has little pace and never scored more that tap ins and with Emerton running round with his head up his backside unlikely to get a pass. Dickov - our besy striker - god is this the level were at now? Stead - Six goals, just six goals thata all he's scored for us (showed just how good Andy Cole really was in my opinion). Matty got three against Arsenal in a cup semi final. Bothroyed - Wonder why no one else wanted him? Johnson - a long way to go but pace at last. That said if you had told me 2 years ago that our best striker would be a 33 year old dwarf with no pace a big gob and a bad temper I would have laughed my socks off. This puts a number of things into perspective. Our strikers are sh+*&! and could well be be got rid of as a job lot come summer. Hughes did what he had to in the break and toughened up our defence. Nelson looks the best centre half I've seen for ages in blue and white. We will get two possibly three new strikers in summer. Clearout of Sennacot proportions come summer and no ones safe.
  10. Anybody think a draw at the cowshed and big party at Ewood might kick start crowds again? Loved watching the bewildered dingle faces last time on their first visit out of their cowsheds and down to a first rate venue. Some couldn't stop looking at the 'Ferrari' stadium. Heh heh?
  11. Blackburn only has a population of 95,000 - they always include another 30,000 for people who live in Darwen and some of that is Turton which is nearer the Reebock. What do you get for the 5m Gold Porno inc takes out of BCFC? Think of the players you could have but unfortunatley goes on his mansion -or to save up for West Ham. Are all Brummies illiterate racists?
  12. IMO Cole was a proper player and professional. Unlike Yorke. He should be treated in the same way that Dunn was when he was subbed at the Birmingham game. With a healthy round of applause. I would also argue that w might still be bottom but we would have more goals and Stead might still be playing - and scoring. You cannot serously say Dickov is in the same league as Cole cos he isn't. By the way USA Blue the majority of the country here wese appalled at the Spainish supporters in Madrid and it has instilled some pride in the country as we know we are better than a moronic bunch of third worlders who have yet to grow up. Giving the minorities a say was invented your way but we ain't in half the state some parts of the US is with opposite sexes being afraid to get in an elevator without a witness for fear of a lawsuit.
  13. Mmmmm... Some obscure thoughts on this. 1. Racial Abuse is wrong - okay with that 2. If someone was looking at me making monkey noises and scratching their armpits it wouldn't bother me - Happens a lot in Burnley and they can walk round how they like for me. 3. I would not relate this sort of action too myself as I don't think I look like a monkey - and I don't think any other human being does either. 4. I wonder why DY thinks it in someway represented him?
  14. Bet you don't remember Martin Fowler - Jim Iley's 'man to get us going' gawd! Funny how many Souness brought in on here. Did he ever have a look at the players he was buying? Diawara couldn't have ever played football before even on a park. A few current favourites, Amo - injured again- Rousso Gres -kan't play won't play - ko Matt - It's not my fault - oe (hee haw more like) Curtis is a good player and we could play 3 at the back with him. I think his size for a defender has been his problem. Beat the pants of Lucas Neil IMO
  15. Dickov is one of the just okay players Souness seemed prone to signing throughout hid career. He has a good attitude but Bothroyd is downright dangerous (all the time I believe). We are short of a quality player next to him and with Jansen injured I would be looking to sue Souness for letting Cole go for nothing. That was the disgrace of the season whatever happens next. Marcus Bent was another million quid givaway and he always look likely to make it to me. I think Stead is going to have to work hard to get his place back but I still think we should be looking at Jemal Johnson or Cairan Donnolly for at least half a game. We still lack any real pace in the side although Emo is giving us a let out now. (Wonder if he had the same instructions Dunny had before he quit! "Don't give the ball away and defend as if your live depends on it cos we're only after survival son." Sort of stifles your will to attack) Todd for right back, Short, Johannson (funny but I always thought he would be up their with an extended run in the side) and Mc Everly and bingo- we could play a quickley changing 3/4 man back for with some defensive capability. Anyone know when Tommo's back in midfield?
  16. Shows how much common sense we have left at the club. Jack Walker will be turning in his grave.
  17. Mega complex issue this. I think the size of the asian population in Blackburn is highly contentious but not as high as quoted. Certainly no more than 20%. Generally asians attend many sporting events but they generally have less disposable income then the white population. Cost is therefore a bigger factor to them. They also don't have a tradition of following football as first generation English asians. Many asian parents won't have been to a football match due to racism, which was rife at Ewood during the 70's and 80's (although has is thankfully not been a problem for many years- Perhaps these neanderthals have now taken up with the inbreds down at Burnley) However, an odd poster or two to this board notwithstanding, they are made welcome when they attend and we have asian stewards. We also have a good number of common sense Lancashire asians who are difficult to identify as different from you or me and a good football in the community programme wich has young asians and some good players. I don't think an asian player from Leeds say would command as much respect as a white player from down Whally Range so that argument is out of the window. At present I was worried about going on holiday to Turkey so if the chappie from Liverpool gets his head chopped off by the mad mullas today then I'm sure asians will be less likely to attend Ewood even if it is just out of shame. Its happening but the best and easiest people to get back in quick are the 5000 lost recent supporters of whatever colour. Perhaps a season ticket offer to these and with the promising new regime those recently lost would be the easiest to bring back.
  18. Might get shot fer this but, - Matteo is not the standard we need right now, slow and poor positioning - Gray - Nooo... We wont see the best of Pederson if he keep going forward like he did and is out of position too much - i think we've been kidding ourselves a little about Stead and Dickov. They look okay when you have no one else to compare them with but suddenly looked very secong rate when Jansen (thank god he didn't find himself another club) and Bothroyd came on. Bothroyd in particular looked the real deal. Unlike Stead he was too big and strong to be pushed off the ball, had real pace and went up for headers. The ball stuck with him better and I think he's a start for tommorow and probably thereafter. Jansen is the fist player in a year to collect the ball and turn and run from halfway line with it beating people. At last some organisation and promise.
  19. Anybody remember John Bailey; - he was certainly better than some of those above. - A bit like Ashley Cole fast and solid.
  20. Do we get compo for the bag carriers too? Hope so this is getting better and better!
  21. I am feeling great optimism just now. Souness did well for a while but I would argue that he would have been sacked in the next three weeks - what a guy FS is -saved us millions (who'd be a bar code fan! He He!). Remember he inherited a talented bunch of young home grown players along with the rubbish. Granted he spotted this and got rid of some expensicve underperformers early on but we did have a hairy first few months we all forgot about when promoted. By arguing with many of the better players and failing to 'man manage' he has left us with an aged and expensive first team squad (wagewise) who are hardly going to set the world alight. In addition the coffers are almost empty and we have no players who are worth what we paid for them. Finally on this point we have hardly any 1st team players who have flair or creativity. LIVERPOOL FANS will have a feeling of Deja Vu here. I'm optimistic because; a. We still have an excellent crop of younger players who I think Parksey will give a chance to. He has always done this and his formula has always been to attack with 2 fast wingers who tuck in and a striker who faces the opposition goal. Enter Pederson, Stead and Gallacher - all have more flair and guile than Dickov (looks okay and might play with Stead). Anyway we have no one else as I don't know Bothroyd but he's apparently pacy. Midfield; Watch for Cairan Donnolly coming in eventually to take over Tugay's spot as aproper attacking midfielder. Fergurson/Flitcoft (possibly Todd) back as minder. A re-organised (and I mean organised!) defence with Short or Ammo as Stopper and Matteo as Sweeper and then McEverley fitting in at right back. Grey will stay as Parkes always likes attacking midfielders You might even find Enkleman in. Whatever, Parkes was effectively demoted by Souness last month and he will be releshing picking a team to attack the Toon with a vengance. 2. A new manager will demand funds simply due to the position were in and the lack of liquid assets Souey left us with. I think these will be provided. Exciting times ahead! Whoa Happy Days
