  1. “ Say it ain’t so Joe “ . What exactly are his qualifications for this role ? Only at Blackburn Rovers.
  2. Richie Valens - Come On Let’s Go
  3. You’re talking like Blackburn Rovers are a normal football club - we aren’t and we haven’t been for 15 years. The owners couldn’t care less about your expections, or mine for that matter.
  4. I suppose you’re right. Nobody ever signed top class players before we did.
  5. How many of them actually improved the team Paul ?
  6. I don’t know why everyone is so pessimistic. In the Chicken Chokers we trust ! If we move quick we may be able to hijack Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid. Isn’t it time somebody restarted the ” Optimism “ thread ?
  7. Nothing new there, he comes out with that line every close season. The manager has done great, we’ve signed some really good players blah, blah, blah. Oh, by the way we just need another 7 or 8 players to have a competitive team.
  8. There’s no comparison. City’s second team could probably beat any other team outside the top four Prem sides. It’s not just the individual amounts they’ve spent it the number of signings they make. They’ve signed players in the past just to stop them signing for other clubs.
  9. Mm, clever. Amarillo is yellow in Spanish. Ketty Lester - River Of Salt
  10. Jack didn’t have the wealth a nation state has. A lot of our buys weren’t always the best player in that role, they were the guys that fitted in. Was Ripley the best winger when we bought him ? Le Saux the best left back ? Hendry the best centre half ? City can buy the best players on the planet.
  11. I never wanted my team to lose, ever. Be it a cup final or coats down on the local common. To win was why we play, or it should be.
  12. I think that ship might have sailed. I noticed he wasn’t catching their starting line up at the end of the season.
  13. I wonder if the Warhurst who played for City is related to the Warhurst who played for us back in the day ? A top, top player before he got a bad injury. One of the few players who could play in any position and look a natural.
  14. J Frank Wilson And The Cavaliers - Last Kiss
  15. Jimmy Radcliffe - Long After Tonight Is All Over
  16. If the object of the exercise is to make enough money from players sales to just “keep the lights on “ - the plan has worked to “ perfection “. As far as I know, ‘ the lights are still on “. However, if the object of the exercise is to have a successful football team - just look at the league table.
  17. Al Green - Tired Of Being Alone
  18. There’s a good article in my paper today were Jamie Redknapp talks about Spurs v City whilst contrasting that game with the famous Liverpool v Rovers end of season game back in the day. Yes, he was trying to score with that free kick.
  19. In that one clip you saw one thing that Gally hasn’t got - anticipation. Good run off the ball by the No 7, whoever he is.
  20. Money from sales has always been invested to some degree in the past. Not always wisely, but that’s another story. Some went towards new signings and some went on running the club, paying the bills etc. I get the feeling with this mob that nothing will be spent on new players other than financing free transfers. On another point - the flow of good young players is never constant. You can get a glut sometimes but you can always get years were none of the young players can make the step up.
  21. How long will it be before Palace come around again with their handful of magic beans.
  22. Could it be that Broughton wanted to bring in younger players because that’s where his level of expertise was ? My feeling is we had/have enough young players and a bit of experience was needed. Maybe the signing of MacFad and Fleck was a sign that Broughton was on the way out ?
