  1. Yeah, very aware of what was going on around him. Plus just the right placement and pace on the ball for Sammi to smack it into the back of the net.
  2. He’d have given 2 I suspect.
  3. How do you play in the centre of a 2 ? I would agree he’s better in a back 3 but most centre halves are.
  4. He’s up there with David Speedie for me in the hero stakes. It’s just a shame he doesn’t have team mates as good.
  5. Wharton put his hand up to play in a vital game when he was suffering with back trouble. It would have been the easiest thing in the world to say “ Sorry boss, I can’t make it today, my back’s still not 100% right “ . But he didn’t .
  6. And chances coming few and far between, Todays goal was a classic goalscorers goal. He made it look really easy but it was far from that. . Reminded me of the old master -Jimmy Greaves.
  7. I would hope we can do better than Gally for the money. If we can’t we’ll struggle again.
  8. Great goal from the front 3. A good flick on, super awareness from Dolan , and Sammi making a difficult finish look easy.
  9. Respect. I thought 15/2 was pretty generous at KO time. Anything can happen in a game of football as we have just seen.
  10. Yeah, Ronnie running out with the ball under his arm, then he used to boot it high in the air onto our half of the pitch for the usual desultory passing drills.
  11. That’s the problem. He’s no Ryan Nelsen is he ?
  12. Yeah , we could end up with 5 at the back plus two just in front. How do we get up the pitch enough of the time ? Sounds like asking for trouble to me but our options are severely limited at the moment. Brittain and Pickering need to get forward as much as possible, no easy task given their immediate opponents.
  13. The numbers of away fans are the one shining light at the club at the moment.
  14. Wharton and Ayari are injured apparently.
  15. My rugby league team had to play a play off final in France. They’d played the same French team a few weeks before in the league and lost about 36-6. The final was on our opponents ground. These are working lads, one of them couldn’t get time off work to fly out on the Thursday with the team. He had to fly out on his own on the Friday. Our opponents hadn’t lost a game at home all season. Some of the lads were playing injured. At one point in the game we were 16-0 down. Did they give up ? Did they bollocks give up. They got stuck in, ran their blood to water and ended up winning the cup and promotion by a couple of points. When they presented the cup it still had our opponents ribbons on it because our opponents officials were that confident of winning they’d never bothered to buy ribbons in our colours ! It’s what’s beating under the badge that counts when the chips are down.
  16. I don’t know why people are surprised by these results. It happens at the end of every season. Teams that appear to be “ dead and buried “ start fighting for their lives. Tomorrow we get a chance to do the same. Let’s see whether we can do the same.
  17. The Rolling Stones - I Wanna Be Your Man
  18. I got told a long while ago by the Chief Exec at my local Rugby League club - “ never make excuses for the players, as they’ll take them.”
  19. Bruce Springsteen And The E-Street Band - Blinded By The Light
  20. I hate these early kick offs. It just gives them the opportunity to ruin more of your weekend.
  21. Sam Cooke - Bring It On Home To Me
  22. I went to a sportsman’s dinner a while ago were Dean Saunders was the guest speaker. He told tales of Ron Atkinson doing similar things when he was at Villa.
  23. It’s all a joke.
