  1. I said at the time that selling Wharton was our Ken Knighton moment. That’s for those with a long memory.
  2. The very, very, long list of games we’ve lost once we’ve gone behind just got one game longer. It’s now off the bottom of the page.
  3. That’s a really poor interview.
  4. I don’t get it. Tell players they’re tired and they’ll play like it.
  5. Johnny Kidd And The Pirates - Hungry For Love One for guitar fans. The late, great, Mick Green.
  6. Howling’ Wolf - Tail Dragger
  7. Once you’ve had an injury like that it’s as much what’s going on in your head as what’s going on with your leg.
  8. Betty Everett - You’re No Good
  9. I wouldn’t sign anyone who’d suffered a leg break until they’d been back playing first team football again for at least 6 months.
  10. Yeah, he’s a throwback to the sort of inside left I used to play against when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Easy to mark, they only played when they got the ball, but you had to be careful once they were in possession. They usually had a trick or two.
  11. I think Eustace has had a quick look at the squad and decided to play in ways that add to our strengths. Imagine that ! Three centre backs because we are quite well off for centre backs, especially when Carter returns. We also have the lad from Crewe and the kid from Liverpool. Two wing backs because our normal full backs, Brittain and Pickering aren’t the world’s best defenders but they can put a good ball in. If Hedges was fit he could play out on the left again. A passing player and a tackler in central midfield and two busy attacking players in Sammi and Dolan playing off a lone striker in Gally ( when he’s fit of course. ) It makes sense to me. We just need to get a run of games out of them so they can build up an understanding of the expected patterns of play. It makes sense to me
  12. It’s when he “ rolled “ off the treatment table. Getting back to Siggy, the word that went through my mind watching him the other night was “ languid “.
  13. Putting yourself about a bit can work wonders for your game. Look at Sammi, and David Speedie back in the day. They have/had ability but if they’d have just stood about waiting for somebody else to set them up they’d have been only half the player they are/were.
  14. Siggy was the only one who was going through the motions when it came to pressing.
  15. The Crickets - Teardrops Fall Like Rain
  16. That’s certainly been the case in the past. Let’s hope JE can wave the magic wand over them. We met fire with fire last night.
  17. It’s a trade off - we looking like we had more about us going forward when we re-jigged the team after McFadz went off be we also looked more open.
  18. I noticed that after half time. The other 3 subs got us back in it though.
  19. I’ve mentioned how pleased I was with last nights performance. It felt like the real Blackburn Rovers again. Can I say a few things about individual players. I’ll start with saying that the players gave 100% for the club Pears - He was the real deal last night. My M O M to be honest. It must have done his confidence a world of good. Brittain - A mixture of good and not so good. He was running on his tongue at the end. Hyam - Along with the other two centre halves he was immense.in defence. Shame about the pen but as captain he took the responsibility. I can only applaud that. Mac - The new John MacNammee., he’s made a real difference since he first pulled on the shirt. Wharton - He was terrific. I just wish he would work on his right foot more. The Geordies kept running him on to his right foot when he was in possession and making his passing look laboured at times. Chrisene - Got up and down, never took a backward step. Got booked for his first foul by a very one eyed ref. Buckley - Looked the part again last night. He can always pick a pass going forward. His lack of recent match play meant he ran out of gas after an hour. Moran - Looked like a Brighton level player for once. Dolan - I like Dolan a lot but he wasn’t at it last night. Kept taking that one touch too many and losing possession. Sammi - What can you say that hasn’t already been said. The new David Speedie. He was a real threat all night. Shame about the pen, it looked a tired effort, but he’d every right to be tired. Gally - put himself about until the inevitable injury. I find him frustrating. Subs Siggy - The least impressive player for me, he seems to be playing within himself. Nice pass for the Markanday shot. Garrett - The usual busy performance sprinkled with good tackles. Ayari - I thought he looked a decent acquisition, Took over from Moran nicely. Markanday - A bright performance. Great shot that led to the goal. I loved the “ Bryan Douglas “ style dribble. Koumetio - I had my heart in my mouth twice when he came on but he grew into the game. Looked quite comfortable going forward with the ball. Other opinions are available - these are my personal opinions and they aren’t written on a tablet of stone.
  20. Baby Washington - That’s How Heartaches Are Made After last night.
