That’s certainly been the case in the past. Let’s hope JE can wave the magic wand over them. We met fire with fire last night. -
John Eustace - our head coach

It’s a trade off - we looking like we had more about us going forward when we re-jigged the team after McFadz went off be we also looked more open. -
I’ve mentioned how pleased I was with last nights performance. It felt like the real Blackburn Rovers again. Can I say a few things about individual players. I’ll start with saying that the players gave 100% for the club Pears - He was the real deal last night. My M O M to be honest. It must have done his confidence a world of good. Brittain - A mixture of good and not so good. He was running on his tongue at the end. Hyam - Along with the other two centre halves he was immense.in defence. Shame about the pen but as captain he took the responsibility. I can only applaud that. Mac - The new John MacNammee., he’s made a real difference since he first pulled on the shirt. Wharton - He was terrific. I just wish he would work on his right foot more. The Geordies kept running him on to his right foot when he was in possession and making his passing look laboured at times. Chrisene - Got up and down, never took a backward step. Got booked for his first foul by a very one eyed ref. Buckley - Looked the part again last night. He can always pick a pass going forward. His lack of recent match play meant he ran out of gas after an hour. Moran - Looked like a Brighton level player for once. Dolan - I like Dolan a lot but he wasn’t at it last night. Kept taking that one touch too many and losing possession. Sammi - What can you say that hasn’t already been said. The new David Speedie. He was a real threat all night. Shame about the pen, it looked a tired effort, but he’d every right to be tired. Gally - put himself about until the inevitable injury. I find him frustrating. Subs Siggy - The least impressive player for me, he seems to be playing within himself. Nice pass for the Markanday shot. Garrett - The usual busy performance sprinkled with good tackles. Ayari - I thought he looked a decent acquisition, Took over from Moran nicely. Markanday - A bright performance. Great shot that led to the goal. I loved the “ Bryan Douglas “ style dribble. Koumetio - I had my heart in my mouth twice when he came on but he grew into the game. Looked quite comfortable going forward with the ball. Other opinions are available - these are my personal opinions and they aren’t written on a tablet of stone.

Baby Washington - That’s How Heartaches Are Made After last night. -
All I ever ask is for from a Rovers team to give 100% effort. I can take being out skilled, that will happen in football, but I can’t stand it when we get out enthused. Last nights game was the first time this season that I’ve thought the players were giving absolutely everything for the club. Nobody left anything in the tank. We out enthused the Geordies last night. it felt like a win to me. On the down side - we’ve seen this before last season. The West Ham game, the Leicester game, Sheff Utd in the cup. When we aren’t under pressure we can play well in games like last nights. When we are expected to win that’s were the problems have started in the past. Last night’s game was really great but will Eustace be able to reproduce that form in the future ? The run of fixtures since he came in have been horrendous, leading to a ridiculous amount of injuries. It looks like we picked up at least one more last night. So if Gally goes missing again that means we’ll be without Tronstad, Hedges, JRC, Carter, Fleck. Six guys either first choice players or certainties for the bench. What serious coaching he’s been able to do must be minimal, that’s probably why he’s concentrated on the basics.

He’s a class act but he looked ordinary last night. -

Did you ever see him play ? He was one of those unfortunate souls in the 1960’s that went bald in their twenties. -

I don’t remember Lochead playing but maybe he had hair then. -

Mm, I was pretty sure Ronnie Clayton played at right half but it is 60 odd years ago. I don’t recall any player being subbed either. I was only 13 then but I had the impression they all took it pretty seriously. Dougie and Connelly certainly did. -

Yes, thinking about it he was down in the programme. Who was down as the No 10 for Burnley in the programme ? -

Cheeseborough was at Leicester then. He was the only un-capped player in the England representative team and in that company he looked out of place. Maybe he got called up at short notice. -

No. Gordon Harris was at No 11. I can’t for the life of me remember who was at No 10, maybe Arthur Bellamy or Ian Towers, but it was the full Burnley first team minus Jimmy Mac and Alex Elder who were playing for N. Ireland that night. The England representative team had about half a dozen England regulars in it. I used to have that programme. I was walking home from school and I saw the game advertised outside the “ Ellen Smith “ coach company ticket office. So it was a dash home for tea and then back for the coach over the tops. It was a cracking game, end to end stuff, dozens of shots on goal. I can still see the Lofthouse goal in my minds eye. He chased a long bouncing ball down towards the corner flag. He caught up with it a couple of yards from the side line and about five yards in from the goal line. As it bounced up he caught it on the volley and it went past Blacklaw like a rocket. Like threading a needle. -
Inevitable. We aren’t producing the players with the ” Right Stuff “ at the moment.

Two Sheff Utd players were involved in an on field skirmish yesterday. Shades of Batty versus LeSaux. One of them, the Brazilian Vinicius Souza, had calmed down enough to swap shirts at half time with a fellow Brazilian, Joan Gomes, who was playing for Wolves ! What goes on in these players heads ? He’d never kick another ball for me if I was the manager.
