  1. Howe at Newcastle if they can persuade him to get off the money train.
  2. We’re certainly playing like it.
  3. Top clubs have top players. No need to say anymore.
  4. Exactly France had two real chances and took one of them. The long shot came out of the blue. Apart from the Maguire header we didn’t really create a chance in open play. In games like that the players that can create” one moment of magic “ are match winners.
  5. That was a great cross he put in for the Giroud header. Bags of pace on the ball and a nice dip onto his head. Southgate mentioned Greizmann being a major threat before the game but let him have the freedom of the pitch last night. From the games I’ve seen although Mbappe and Dembele have had the headlines Greizmann has made them tick. I’ll bet Morocco man mark him.
  6. We used to have an acronym for people like JDT. - NFI. See if you can work it out. If we think it what will the players be thinking ? I watched the highlights of our game with Ajax reserves the other day. Dolan finished off 3 chances ( 1 disallowed ) like a veteran. I thought “ he’ll be playing against PNE “. Not a chance.
  7. Rice is a good player but not world class. I read he was supposed to be marking Greizmann last night. If so he hardly got near him. That was the difference. If Greizmann had have been playing for England we would probably have won. Bellingham could be world class shortly but he’s not quite there yet. He wasn’t as influential last night. Like most games the match was won and lost in midfield and they were better in that area. I think we got out muscled to a certain extent last night in a very physical game. Saka went to ground appealing for a free kick and let their guy run away with ball before the first goal. Referees have been letting a lot go this time. In the Prem he would have almost certainly got a free kick. Maybe our refs need to start letting things go a bit more.
  8. Having said that I thought whoever won tonight would be in pole position to win the trophy.
  9. I don’t hate Southgate, I don’t hate anyone in football. It’s just a game. I just don’t rate him as a manager who can win things. If I wanted a son in law he’d be great.
  10. I agree mentality has a bearing on it. It’s not just football though is it. Our rugby teams of both codes seem to always find a new way of losing.
  11. Hands up who would have guessed at todays starting line up ? It’s happening every week now. Who would have guessed the starting line up at the Dingle dome ? I’d bet not one person on here would have got the line ups right for either of those games.
  12. I’m not Saka’s biggest fan but he had the left back really worried. Putting Sterling out there was a waste of time. He’s not a winger. There was no end product once he came on. As for subbing Grealish on with 90 seconds to go - ridiculous.
  13. If we’re still dogshite in a month or two changes need to be made. We aren’t the greatest collection of players I’ve ever seen but we’re not a 4-1 dicking at home to Preston bad. Something is wrong at the club and at the moment the finger is pointing firmly at the manager.
  14. I thought he did ok, he’s never been a flying machine. Who else is there to play that role ?
  15. We lack the X factor. A Modric or Greizmann who could direct the traffic in midfield. Rice and Henderson can’t do that at top level and Bellingham is too young and possibly a bit too impetuous to become that player.
  16. At the moment he’s doing a very good impression of a guy who doesn’t know what he’s doing.
  17. Yep, Alf got Ipswich from the old Div 3 to winning the old First Division and into the European Cup.
  18. I’m 73 and the last time Preston won by that score I’d never even been to Ewood and Tom Finney was playing for them. Maybe somebody should mention it to JDT. Along with the fact the last time we lost 3-0 at the Turf I was a 14 year old schoolboy. I was there for that one though.
  19. It’s not hard to be a good winner. Some players seem to struggle with it though.
  20. Yeah his record speaks for itself - never won a sausage. If you want to win things - get a winner.
  21. We get seriously dicked away at the Dingle dome. Nothing happens apart from we all get to go away on a glorified holiday. We get seriously dicked today at home. Nothing happens again. Just business as usual. Nobody back in tomorrow for special punishment training. Come Monday morning nobody dragging them all in to tell the whole team their fortunes. It’s like the Marie Celeste down at Ewood. A bloody “ ghost ship “.
  22. We’ll never win anything with Southgate. Keep him if you like.
