  1. We should have thanked him for getting us promoted and then showed him the door. Enthusiasm for the club was on a high and we were well placed to attempt a serious push for promotion. Instead he's managed to dissipate that feel good feeling and blow whatever chances of serious advancement we have with this ludicrous " slow build " concept of football management. It was obvious at the time to those with eyes that see that he wasn't the man to take us any further. You've got to be ruthless to succeed in pro football.
  2. Much as I like both of those players " prized jewels " is a bit of an exaggeration. Certainly in Mowbray's head.
  3. I don't want to be argumentative but good headers of the ball playing up front score their fair share of headed goals, he didn't.
  4. It's not every day you see our owners and the word clever mentioned in the same sentence.
  5. Sat Sept 26th. Rovers 3- Leicester 1 Att - 14,964 Scorers - McEvoy, Ferguson, Byrom. Jones. Newton, Joyce. Clayton, Mulvaney, McGrath. Ferguson, McEvoy, Byrom, Douglas, Harrison.
  6. I was right behind the goal as well, sort of in line with the path of the ball. I can't agree he was a good header of the ball. He had a great spring in his legs and he could get up for a header better than most but after that where the ball went was another story.
  7. Our whole scattergun approach to recruitment gets me down. We're no nearer to having a consistently coherent way of playing now than we were 3 years ago. We don't ever seem to know our best team for more than a couple of games. I find it really difficult to believe that an experienced professional management team could have got things so badly wrong for so long.
  8. On a scale of 0 to 10, 10 being wildly enthusiastic I'd say I'm on about 2 at the moment.
  9. I see they've just signed the Greek lad to cover for Robertson.
  10. He wasn't the sort of player to chase lost causes out on the pitch even when he was fully fit. I don't think he's probably got more in the tank than coming on for the last 1/2hr these days a la Danny Graham.
  11. I'd have the Rudy that left us back in a flash but the current Rudy isn't that person. He's had well documented injury problems and for me it's significant that Warnock realised he was a busted flush with days of taking over at 'Boro.
  12. Maybe he thought you said " there's a few good names there " by mistake.
  13. We're not just after a No1 goalkeeper matey we're after a No1 and a No2. How many other clubs have no senior goalkeepers ?
  14. It's all about conning the officials to gain an advantage, the crowd doesn't come in to it. Basically it's cheating. We used to be scathing about " Cheating Argies "or " Cheating Eyties " . Now we are worse than they are in my opinion.
  15. If you were picking a team on fighting spirit and will to win alone he'd be one of the first names on the list - along with Kevin Moran out of that team.
  16. Great stuff. A few comments. Plenty of good football played by both side on a tip of a pitch. Today it would have ended up 9 a side. 3 goals came from wingers getting around teams. The lad Reid was a good player. Not enough sideways passing and keep ball for todays fans, plus it might have got a bit too exciting for them.
  17. Considering I've never been a season ticket holder for sporting and then working reasons I've been lucky to see some great games almost by random chance. Beating Man Utd 3-0 at Old Trafford was pretty special. Bryan Douglas running Law and Charlton, Stiles etc ragged was another great performance. It was incredible that when Bryan was the best attacking midfield player in England for about 2 seasons he only got one game there. We played Switzerland away, won 8-1, Bryan ran the show in midfield, scored a goal - and never got another cap !
  18. Great stuff, I loved Speedie. He had more enthusiasm and fighting spirit than any of the current lot and only Dack could match him for skill. I would have hated to play against him. You would have had a tough 90 minutes.
  19. I was at the Plymouth match as well Jim. Two great performances but different in character. In the Spurs game we totally out skilled them from start to finish, Possibly the best I saw Bryan Douglas play, they'd no answer to him in midfield. it could have been 10-2 easily In the Plymouth game it was more about our fighting spirit and determination to run Plymouth into the ground, especially after half time. Our level of intensity never let up and they were well beaten at the end. I would have liked to have seen that Boxing Day match, West Ham 2- Rovers 8 game.
