January Transfer window 2022
Tyrone Shoelaces replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Hand on heart I don’t either. We haven’t got a strong enough squad and the manager isn’t good enough to get us promoted. It pains me to say that because we’ll never a better chance. Of course if the chicken chokers get the cheque book out things may change. -

Kenny or Sparky or Big Sam could have done it. I accept that the people running the club at the moment probably couldn’t. -
He got them out of the mire.

If we weren’t being run by the chicken chokers and we had a management team capable of spending that money wisely in such a short time scale I’d take it. That could get us three class players that would do more than one striker who’s hit and miss at the moment. Too many if’s in that idea though. -

Only if you don’t count the three we threw in at Wigan. -
They didn’t like Big Sam and he won football games.

It was looking that way earlier on but they’ve just got £25 million.

My mistake. I was thinking he was left footed with him playing out on the left hand side. I can understand anyone giving Gallagher the shepherds crook after last nights no show. He was truly awful. I’d make it clear to him he’s drinking in the last chance saloon. How anybody thought he was worth another contract is a mystery to me. He should be putting himself about like their centre forward did last night. You don’t even have to be much of a footballer to do that. -

I think that happened last week. Not really what we need unless it’s to give John Buckley a rest. -

Do you think either one of Lenihan or the Flying Dutchman could play in that defensive midfield role ? We could bring Ayala in to replace them. What do we do in training ? These things should be tried out on the training pitch. If Mowbray had been managing Rovers in the 1960’s Fred Pickering would still be playing left back in the Central League and Andy McEvoy would still be Ronnie Clayton’s understudy.. -

I’d have Nyambe back in at right back and unfortunately Gallagher up the front on the understanding that he gets his fortune told before the game and he has to pull his finger out. If he can’t wring the sweat out of his shirt when he comes off he’s done. The two lads you’ve got up front look to be clones of each other as far as playing style goes. Both tricky and left footed but a bit lightweight. I don’t think we can play them both together. I can’t paint you a picture were we get anything out of this game unfortunately. I just hope I’m wrong. -

Starting Markanday will make a short team shorter. Just saying. -

Yep, he was dreadful first half. He never got over the half way line. Second half Tony must have told him to get forward more and he looked a better player for it. -

Davenport for me. Travis needs to be 100% if he plays . JRC playing half fit was enough last night. -

I’m worried about the ‘ Boro game. They’re in a good run of form and Wilder is still a good manager in my book. A win against them would get the show back on the road. The point that teams have found us out is hard to avoid. Down to the manager now. I’m just hoping Trav’s Covid hasn’t spread. -

Thanks Tony. We just carried on from Cardiff. As I said in another thread at least we won’t be going down. -

That was truly terrible. The only redeeming feature was that if anybody had the idea that Tony had turned into a footballing genius, think again. At least the thought of him getting another contract is disappearing over the horizon. We just carried on from were we left off in Cardiff. It was shambolic. It’s obvious that the tinkering around did us no favours. JRC was no where near ready for first team football and it showed. That should have been obvious to the manager. When you look down the line up outside the back 3 there wasn’t a tackle in the team. I was disgusted with our lack of aggression. Why weren’t we surrounding the ref after that ridiculous second goal ? We just shrugged our shoulders and looked at each other. . We had four bookings last night, all for trivial ,avoidable, incidents. What bugged me is that you could see the system wasn’t working after 15 minutes but we had to play an hour before any changes were made, and then it was all three at once. We should have subbed JRC at half time, moved Lenihan to RB and brought Ayala on. Gallagher off and Davenport on and reverted to our normal system. Buckley ( my MOTM for what it’s worth ) was playing way too deep. Rothwell had a couple of good runs and that was it. What Davenport has to do to get a game I just don’t know, why is he still at the club if the manager doesn’t rate him ? There was a massive gap between the back five and the front three that Hull played in all night. Khadra’s all pace and no brains. He should have taken the ball in closer for that shot. BBD was back being Brererton last night but he was really unlucky with the pen. The ref must have had his eyes painted on . Gallagher was awful, he seems to go backwards every time I see him. Edun was poor first half but got better as the game went. JRC, awful but not entirely his fault. The centre halves weren’t really at the races, they allowed their striker to do a “ Kevin Davies “ on us. If you’re going to play with wing backs it’s imperative that they play as much as they can in the opponents half. In the first half ours barely got over the half way line. On the plus side we should be able to get to 50 points before the end of the season so we won’t be going down. -

I know Scotland aren’t great at the moment but they’re better than that. Gallagher wouldn’t get a game with Treasure Island going off last nights performance. That could possibly be the worst performance by a Rovers centre forward ina long while. -

I’ll have a lot more to say tomorrow but can I just say for now - Iv’e seen plenty of poor referees in a lifetime of watching football and rugby league but that is the first time I.’ve seen a referee who gave us absolutely nothing. How many players did we get booked ? And for what ? We got bullied tonight and the ref let them get away with it. Every tackle they left something in or there was a little pullback. They’d seen us at Cardiff and thought “ These are a soft touch, they don’t like the physical side of the game. Too many nice lads and not enough bastards “. Only Travis will fight fire with fire. -

Yes but that wasn’t in any way, shape, or form a “ tackle “. -

I said that before the game. Ayala would have kept their centre forward quiet and Lenihan couldn’t have been any worse the JRC.
