  1. Callum Camps, who Rovers were linked with awhile ago, is set to sign for Fleetwood.
  2. Lots of top players don't have to do that these days. They've made enough money to just retire. When was the last successful player manager ?
  3. Not for me. He's done nothing for ages. I read a while ago he'd had a few injuries since leaving Rovers.
  4. They thought of giving Mowbray £30 million to spend fills me with dread.
  5. They tried for a quality striker but the lad died in that plane crash in the Channel.
  6. They got Mendez-Laing from Rochdale for next to nothing.
  7. And the Sunderland goalkeeper who we'd been looking at for 6 months.
  8. Nobody here is knocking his ability. It's his age that's the issue. He could fall off his perch football wise at any point. Maybe he already has. Can we afford to take the gamble ? Look what happened with Whittingham, one minute apparently a class act, the next minute he couldn't get out of the centre circle. Sometimes it's as rapid as that, you get out on the pitch and the spark has gone. If Downing was 30 or even 32 we wouldn't be having this discussion.
  9. I've mentioned this before but maybe you didn't see it. That striker for the England womens team who scored nearly all our goals in the last womens world cup was interviewed about goalscoring. Previously she'd been running around a lot up front and either not getting the chances or not being sharp enough to take them. Phil Neville told her " Imagine the edges of the penalty area continue down the pitch. I don't want to see you moving out of that area ever again. Try and move around a bit less. It worked for Van Nistleroy, it'll work for you, so try it ". After that she start getting amongst the goals again.
  10. How many of them do you think will be back in this division this time next year ? You're just as bad as Mowbray, over complicating what is essentially a simple game.
  11. Of course you can have both - if you're Barcelona, PSG or Real. We're playing in a league were you don't need to football your way out if you can graft. Just ask Dyche.
  12. West Brom are interested in the left back who nearly joined Milan. I've only seen him once but he looked a top notch fullback. He had all the ingredients.
  13. We usually get one of the newly promoted teams - go into the game with totally the wrong attitude - and lose. The time to play newly promoted teams is about 7 to 8 games in when the shine of promotion has been worn off by a few batterings and injuries and suspensions have started to wreak havoc on what are usually limited squads. First game up is when not to play them
  14. I agree with most that. I just tells me that Mowbray has signed players without really settling on a system that gets the best out of them.
  15. If you were a striker who would you rather play against - Tosin or Glenn Keeley or Kevin Moran ? I know who I'd rather lock horns with.
  16. No but I was playing at a very good amateur level before a broken leg as a teenager put an end to any real ambitions I had. I reckoned I could strike a decent ball but not as cleanly or accurately as Raya was doing.
  17. Anybody else see that video were he was side volleying a ball from one corner of the gym to a trainer stood in the other corner ? He was hitting the guy in the chest every time. I couldn't have done that as consistently when I was playing.
  18. I'm surprised by that Chaddy. Wouldn't you think the club would be saying to all the staff " No foreign holidays until further notice lads ? " Let's hope he's not coming back in the nexr two weeks. I'm supposed to be out there now but staying local seemed to be the wisest move.
  19. I think if we do sign him one or both of Evans and Travis will be going. How else does it make any sense ?
  20. We could have had the whole £10 million if we'd have played our cards right with him.
  21. I suspect that could be the league position we end up in next season.
  22. I agree with your comments on Raya. Although he made a couple of serious mistakes I still thought he had enough about him to be persisted with. Especially as we appeared not to have a ready made replacement in the offing. He was capable of draw dropping saves on occasions so obviously the ability was there, I've hardly seen his replacement make one in a full season. Raya's judgement needed working on but that should have been done. He was clearly shown the door by Mowbray's treatment of him, I don't think he had itchy feet before that moment.
