OK, so put a couple of our shorter forwards on the half way line for corners. It’s not like they’re much use as defenders anyway. Bringing everybody back just enables them to crowd the keeper. They’d have to bring two or three players, probably defenders, back to cover our players. Then you’ve got room for your keeper to play his normal game

Last time we were in this position we brought in Berkovic who went straight into the first team and ran the show for us in midfield. One class act that made all the difference.

If you’ve got 8 players who rarely get in the last third of the pitch the 3 that do are always going to be up against it.

It’s not just about being physically ready, he needs to be mentally ready as well. Only the player can tell you if he’s up for it. The pressure will be immense.

On current form we won’t finish in the playoffs. We need to start scoring goals again ASAP.

I like Whiteman but I think the reason why we didn’t go for him is we had Buckley coming through. I don’t think you could play them both in the same team.

I agree, it’ll come down to managerial quality in the end.

I’d say it’s 50/50 wether we stay in the play off zone. If we do miss out I wouldn’t be surprised.

David Speedie was half his size and twice the player.

It wouldn’t be too bad but we had him for a season previously. That was enough for me. The fact that he didn’t pull any trees up at big club and when he was back at Southampton told me we needed to stay away. I used to think he might have made a striker playing through the middle but I’ve more or less given up on him now.

I wouldn’t have signed Maja because of his previous history of back trouble but he’s out because of Covid at the moment.
