I remember seeing them on TV v West Germany back in 60’s. At half time about 8 or 9 of the subs formed up around the centre circle. They started passing ball around and across the circle. Headers, volleys, knee’s, ankles, shoulders. The kept it up for over 10 minutes and the ball never touched the ground ! That was with old ball and old style boots. They had a winger called Pepe who played with Pele at Santos. His speciality was 35 yd free kicks like Roberto Carlos but without the bend. The ball went at amazing speed and as straight as an arrow. He scored a free kick against England at Wembley a week later.

When I first saw them they had Pele, Vava, Garrincha, Amarildo, Didi etc. Then Jairzinho, Tostao, Rivelinho, Pele. They played football like a team from another planet. As you say they’re still a good team but the magic has gone.

Back in the day you could tell it was a Brazilian team just by their way of playing. Nobody played like they did although Peru ran them close for style at times, especially when Cubillas and co were playing. Now they look just the same as any other team. Tony Field ? Think of an Alan Armstrong who could dribble around people.

I agree, I’ve no real interest in who we are or aren’t signing as long as Mowbray is in charge. We’ve never had a settled side or a recognisable way of playing since the promotion season. People come on here saying Joe Bloggs could be a good player for us or Bill Smith is just what we want. I can’t see how you can say that without knowing how Mowbray intends to set up the team. If he doesn’t know, how can they know.

You can’t keep a secret for long inside football, it’s a small world. Other clubs will have a good idea what’s going on at Rovers even if we don’t.

He had it all, he could have been anything he wanted to be. I saw him playing at right back, he looked like he was playing in an armchair, he was a natural.

I was wandering through TK Maxx one day and I came across a replica of the New York Cosmo’s shirt that Pele wore in the 1970’s. All white with a proper sewn on number 10. It was just my size so I had to have it. A week or two later I came across the green away shirt so I had that as well.

I think this is all a dream and I’ll wake up soon.

I watched Al Green on the Glastonbury retrospective last night. Iggy and the Stooges on at the moment.

I don’t rate him either but leading the line is the position he is most likely to do well in.

I always thought Sean Bean was a bit one dimensional as an actor. After watching “ Time “ I had to eat my words, I thought he was tremendous.

I’d give the Ashes a miss this winter If I were England.

They think they have to hit every ball, somebody should tell them you are allowed to leave balls from time to time. This is a five day test not a 20/20.
