  1. Ken Furphy, Jim Smith, Gordon Lee, Howard Kendall, None of those hung around at Ewood once they'd gained a good reputation. It's a job just like any other job to most managers. Not many sportsmen have a loyalty to the team they play for once they get a family and a mortage. I live around the corner from a one time Great Britain rugby league international. I was watching replays of old Challenge Cup Finals and in one I saw he'd won the Lance Todd trophy, that's for the man of the match in the Wembley final. The next time I saw him walking his dog I said " I didn't know you'd won the Lance Todd trophy, what is it you got ? " I've never seen the trophy and I was meaning is it a cup or a shield or a statuette ? He replied " Well in my day it was £150." If Wigan get relegated Cook will be able to say but for the deduction I'd have had them mid table. He might be a cnut but he's far from being on his own in football, it's full of them.
  2. I watch that puzzle show on TV chaired by Victoria Coren, is it called " Connect 4 ". ?That is really difficult. " University Challenge " I'm not bad at because it's more general knowledge based.
  3. Put a stone on and you will lose a yard of pace. I'm speaking from personal experience unfortunately. That's before you get any injuries.
  4. Quoting a fee and actually getting the fee are two entirely separate issues.
  5. I'd pay more for Travis, I think he's got more potential.
  6. The players will be aware of that also.
  7. I'd put Travis in front of Lenihan, One is improving and the other one isn't. There's no point putting Dack in that list until he's played again.
  8. Have you read Mowbray's comments ? In a sentence " They'll be up for it big time and we've nothing to play for ".
  9. I thinks he's worth twice that but the chances are if we get anything like a bid in that region he'll be gone.
  10. Me too. I've just been reading his latest comments on our up coming game with Luton. Why is he always talking the opposition up ? He's so bloody negative. Luton are down in the basement for a reason. Give me Bill Shankly's approach any day - " Manchester Utd , who are they ? Bobby Charlton ? he couldn't tackle his way out of a paper bag, Denis Law ? his knees have gone. George Best ? he'll still be pissed from last night. Nobby Stiles? he's blind. The rest of them are are rubbish, I don't even know who they are ! "
  11. Certainly not. My fighting weight was 10 stone in my kit. Unfortunately I'm not that now.
  12. The lad looks to be carrying a bit of timber in that photograph. Players wearing cycling shorts under the ordinary shorts is never a good sign in my book. Having said that there a plenty of stories of top players not being good trainers. Mark Hughes for one. To be honest it's how much effort they put in on match days that matters to me.
  13. Will we be fielding the same numbers of subs next season as we are at the end of this ? If so I think he'll get his chance coming off the bench.
  14. Show me your working out !
  15. How do you know 333 is the correct answer then ?
  16. Most young players end up getting a red card at some point. It's what you learn from getting the card that matters.
  17. How's that work then ?
  18. I meant 255 ! I got 7+10x15 = 255
  19. I don't think he's done much at Bristol City, Maybe he was a bad fit there as well.
  20. That's more or less what I was told.
  21. That's a bit harsh. What were the other ten doing to get the game back in the remaining 50 minute that were left ? He wouldn't have been the only one that dropped a bollock on Saturday.
  22. All that can be true Chaddy but that doesn't mean the Hoyle guy isn't trying to re-coup some " loans " . If you're a manager and the board are wanting to pick the team it's time to go. There's a bloke I know who drinks in the same pub as me. He's really well in at Huddersfield, unfortunately I haven't seen him for months because he's an asthmatic and he's isolating. When I see him again I'll get the full story.
  23. Mm, I read that also. At least it sounds like he has a plan and sticks to it.
  24. Yes, that's the name I was told. He's " put " between £50 and £60 million into the club from what I hear. If he want's all of that back I can see why ambitious managers might want to try their luck somewhere else. That could be why their number 1 prospect is up for sale.
