  1. I'd have him at Rovers tomorrow. He'd put a bit of much needed mongrel in the team.
  2. They were before their time. They'd be sensational these days.
  3. The best Rovers team I've ever seen had 8 homegrown players. Only Fred Else and Mike Harrison cost real fees. Fergie was a £2k steal as a kid from Accy when they folded.
  4. The Hird, Fazackerly, Waddington, Bailey back four played together quite often in the 1977-78 season.
  5. I could count on the fingers of one hand the top class saves he's made this season. With Raya you'd be on to about 15 to 20 by now.
  6. I sent a text to my No2 son asking him if it was a good game - He said " Haha, we made it hard work as usual. All the kids look great. A new manager and we could be contenders ".
  7. Do you mean all of Slade or just Noddy Holder ?
  8. If I gave you twenty guesses I bet you still couldn't tell me what todays team would be.
  9. Would it be more of a challenge than whiling away your time on Universal Credit and watching " Homes Under The Hammer " every day ?
  10. As far I can see the Rovers job appears to be by invitation only. When did we last have a series of candidates for interview ?
  11. I'm expecting Leeds to stay up next season.
  12. We were more interested in " investments ".
  13. Your manager is the most important member of the staff at any club. As we've seen at Rovers the quality of manager is the difference between success and failure. It's the height of folly to try and employ a manager on the cheap.
  14. I was at Goodison that night as well. I went hoping to see Pele but he didn't play that night. Farkas scored a tremendous goal for Hungary. Albert would have been brilliant in todays football. The famous Hungarian team of the 50's were the first to play that system with Hidegkuti as the false No 9. England had no answer to it and lost 6-3 at home and 7-1 away to them. Don Revie got it from them. Not much is new in football in spite of what the " experts " try to tell you.
  15. I'll bet the " plonker " has never kicked a ball in anger in his life. I don't know about Blackburn but in Rochdale where I live the number of blokes playing amateur football has fallen off a cliff in the last twenty years. Most young guys watching now don't play at an organised level.
  16. Nothing I saw in Gallagher's first spell here would lead me to think he could be Danny Graham mk 2.
  17. Mrs Shoelaces says it's on Youtube for a week before the next play replaces is it.
  18. How do you know this lot won't do that at some point in the near future ?
  19. What would they have to do to be worse ?
  20. I think either of those clubs you mention in the event of losing their star player for twelve months at that point in the season would have gone out and got a replacement, even if it was a loan player.
  21. Invested ? Cow = Handful of magic beans.
  22. Scouting players, really ? Johnno's the chief drone pilot so there isn't a vacancy.. What sort of advice have you got in mind ? " Get rid of those ripped jeans son, and you look a right dipstick in that back to front baseball cap " ?
  23. You missed a treat last night. One of the best things I've seen in a long time.
  24. I saw a quote in todays paper earlier. " I'm delighted to walk out having only got beat 2-0 " said a furious Chris Wilder. " Their heart was bigger than ours ". How often could that be applied to lesser opponents this season who have gone on and turned us over ? There's no heart in the club from top to bottom, there hasn't been for years, and I'm sick of having to say it !
  25. Stockholm syndrome in a couple of sentences. Maybe you can't see it but lots of contributors to this site are losing the will to watch football because of the current manager. Me for one.
