  1. He's been having finishing lessons from Jason Roberts, he was good at the " shin shot ".
  2. The frustrating thing was we could see it happening and do nothing about it.
  3. Yes, that's were a method of rapid testing to see if you have the virus will be vital. I read somewhere that people are having to self isolate for two weeks before going into hospital for normal operations at the moment.. Maybe it'll come to something like that ? I could do it but there's no chance of my wife co operating. My dentist is really good, I've been with him for probably 35 plus years. My worry is he may decide this is a good time to call it a day and retire. He must be in the 60-65 age bracket.
  4. We could have proved Roger's old man wrong if we'd have replaced a couple of our weakest players. Standing still on the recruitment front meant we were inevitably going backwards. None of the top sides are happy to carry on with the same 11. When you've just won the title and you are in Europe is the perfect time to bring in top players.
  5. That's good news. Lets hope they carry out the work on schedule. I was reading some horror stories yesterday regarding people's problems with dentistry, or the lack of it, during the crisis. I also saw an headline that said lots of dental practices will go bust if they can't get the show back on the road soon.
  6. Mm, that's interesting. Do you know if it will involve any drilling etc or is it just replacing one that fell out ? Normally that doesn't involve much work that could be seen as aerosol creating.
  7. I was due to have root canal work done on a back tooth on the Wednesday of the week they shut down the dentists on the Monday. It's niggling away in the background at the moment. When we'll get seen to is anybodies guess. From what I can see nobody in the dental world is thinking outside the box as to how they can get back to work.
  8. A pal of mine dragged me to see Albert Hammond at " The Band On The Wall " in Manchester about 7 years ago. I didn't fancy the gig at all but I went anyway. He was fantastic, I was amazed by the songs he's written that were big hits for other people. He was really down to earth and not full of his own shit like some famous musicians are. Of course he did " Free Electric Band " and " It Never Rains In Southern California ".
  9. Players come in all sorts of mentalities. The two main groups are the guys that will get you on top in the game and the guys that will start to play when the first group have got on top in the game. You have your Shearer's, Batty's, Hendry's, Moran's, Flitty etc and then you have the Sherwood's, Bohinen's, Frandsen's, Gillespie's etc.
  10. Maybe you blew it too much. Smiley Face. On a serious note will they be consulted and do you think there will be any "conscientious objectors" ? How would you feel if you were still doing the job ?
  11. I've not seen any comments coming from the officials. Have you heard anything from your former colleagues ?
  12. You could say that. It's like any job - if your heart's not in it don't do it. You'll only make a mess of it. Of course being a former engineer everything has to be bang on for me, I can't help it, that's just the way you get trained. As a told her the other day - If 22 kids out of 25 in her English group pass their English GCE that's a success story. If I'm bolting an engine on an aircraft wing and I get 22 out of 25 bolts in that's a disaster.
  13. I was never a Sherwood fan. A fair weather player.
  14. Oh she is, letters after her name as long your arm, two degrees, one Hons, NPQH, etc etc unfortunately none of them are in decorating.
  15. She's barred from wall papering as well now after her last attempt. I'd gone out for the day. When I got back I saw that right in the middle of one of the chimney breast alcoves the paper butted up at the top and overlapped by an inch at the bottom ! She didn't have a clue about plumb bobs or chalk lines, she just guessed.
  16. I barred Mrs Shoelaces from touching a paint brush ever again after the first time I saw her paint. She ended up with paint all over the place. Too much on the brush.
  17. That'll be a job for your husband then ?
  18. I wasn't his biggest fan. Everybody goes on about that great goal at Wigan but how many of those shots ended up in row Z.
  19. Gallagher had all the skill and a really good football brain - as he's shown over the years- but he was lacking in the pace department. Not such a handicap in midfield but you need it up front. If he'd have had Hoilett's pace you would have had another Craig Bellamy.
  20. " Premier League Star " ? I've never heard of him.
  21. The nearest big club to where we go on holiday in Spain is Granada. Some of the locals are fans but lots are Barca or Real fans. The locals I spoke to rated Rochina when he was at Granada.
  22. Looking at the way the virus affects BAME people disproportionately I would imagine the BAME players in the Prem won't be too keen to give it a go. Given the numbers in the Prem they will be very influential in any decisions regarding a restart.
  23. Our back four will be OK with the social distancing.
  24. Looks like Damien Duff was there in the middle.
