  1. And then I woke up.
  2. I hope you're right matey. We owe them one for sure. Having said that you could have " Oxford 3 - Blackburn Rovers 1" engraved on my gravestone.
  3. He's got more about him than Big Ben.Having said that I don't think he'll ever be a prolific goalscorer. Neither was Kevin Davies at Bolton but the player Big Sam built over there would have been the perfect Danny Graham replacement. Straight swap Sam for Rhodes in January ? Would you ? I wouldn't personally but I'd shake on Big Ben for Rhodes, not that it's likely to happen.
  4. I'd say he was OK, no better than that. That division is definitely his level in my opinion.
  5. I was a critic Phil. I thought he was a bit of a lightweight previously who also wasn't a natural goalscorer. From what I see and read he's putting himself about a bit now. He's a big lad who can gallop. If he can learn how to use his size he'll be an asset. I liked how he brushed that Derby player aside like he was a school boy out on the wing before setting up a chance for Armstrong last week.
  6. I like 4-4-2, It's a good shape that puts players in the right areas of the pitch and it gives you a nice balance between attack and defence. But as with any system it has to suit the abilities of the players. Forget the back 4 but when we had Ferguson, Clayton, Douglas, Harrison in midfield with McEvoy and Pickering up front it was 4-4-2 off the ball and 4-2-4 on the ball. Footballing perfection. A goal scoring machine.
  7. Bloody hell, look at that pitch ! Brings back some memories of amateur football. I always wore what we called " Basketball Boots " in those conditions. Studded boots could put you on your arse if you weren't careful !
  8. I used to watch Barrow whenever I could when they came to Rochdale back in the day. I particularly remember an FA Cup tie. I'd gone up because Fred Else was playing in goal for Barrow and I wanted to see him in action again. Fred had a blinder in goal that afternoon and was partly responsible for their 3-1 win. Another player they had that caught my eye was a young gingerish midfielder called George Smith. He was tireless, all over the park, and he could put a foot in if it required it. A bit like a quicker Robbie Savage. I was really impressed. Anyway I wrote to Rovers Courtesy of the Chief Scout telling him about Smith. I got a reply saying they knew about him but he was contracted to the Barrow Club ? Yeah, I knew that. Not long after that game Portsmouth, who were rivaling us for promotion at the time, came in for him with a large fee and off he went down South. He became a cult hero down there, I remember seeing him playing for Pompey at Ewood on several occasions and he was always a thorn in our flesh.
  9. You've missed out Hart. He's been loaned out to two clubs to my knowledge ( Rochdale and Southend ) and done enough at both for their fans to be sorry to see him go back to Rovers. What's the latest on Magloire ? He got injured at Rochdale early in his loan and hasn't been mentioned since.
  10. Quite possibly that's correct, maybe that's a measure of our improvement.
  11. I don't think he's City first team standard at the moment to be honest.
  12. Hart - strange signing, Harper - only a loan but why was he signed , Whittingham - major flop, Anttonson ? - not exactly a flop but not good enough to be signed permanently. Samuel ? - not really been a success story has he. Davenport ? Nuttall ? Chapman - this time so far.
  13. West Brom and Leeds would appear to be flying but all of the other teams we would be contending with for a top six spot can beat each other on any given day.
  14. I'd agree with you that most of them have done ok since they've been signed. None have pulled trees up though .Maybe I'm expecting too much ? I used to argue that the route to success was - replace your average players gradually with good players. Then replace your good players with better players, and then replace your better players with really good players. So on and so forth until you have a team of class acts, Gradually, maybe 2 or 3 positions each season. Are we doing that ? Maybe we are. This squad is definitely better than the one that got us promoted 20 months ago.
  15. Mm, he looked very decent before the injury. I'd say it's still a gamble in spite of the fact that modern medical procedures have improved massively with knee injuries over the years.
  16. I'd say the juries still out on most of them. With the exception of Dack and Tosin all of those have been left out of the team this season at some point..
  17. Exactly what my Sunderland supporting mate says about him.
  18. Not many teams win things without a bit of luck at the right time. I always had Mowbray down as an unlucky manager, maybe things have changed.
  19. Maybe we'll end up with a sort of home team and an away team ? More attacking at home and less attacking away. More possession based at home and more direct away.
  20. Mm, I get what you're saying. Let's see if we can get there first.
  21. Like you I was cheesed off with our lack of progress under the current manager. The recent upturn in results has been brilliant, I said a week ago that I welcomed the change in our fortunes but I would see how we went on in the two upcoming away games before I started to put out the flags. Well we did great, If we can keep that form going we should be in with a shout of the play offs. I wonder if Johnno has had an impact in this ?
  22. Stuff like that actually means something. Selfies out on the beer don't. I've called us out in the past for being a soft touch, lets hope the new steely Rovers continues.
  23. I'd be up for that. Count me in for a contribution. Un poco dinero por my neuevo companero. Es correcto no ? I can't do the upside down question mark that should start the sentence.
  24. For the Armstrong goal their right back was fast asleep, yards back down the pitch, playing Armstong on side by a good ammount.
  25. We don't get big gates at the rugby most of the time so normally there is only a crowd on one side of the ground at what used to be called Spotland. A few years ago one of our players was caught short and without anybody seeing him left the pitch, ducked down behind the boundary wall and had a shit. He then rejoined the game. It was noticeable that our opponents seemed to be loathe to tackle him afterwards !
