  1. What does " proper competition " mean ? As I see it we've got half of the first team who could fit into that category and a whole lot more sat on the bench. Why bring in another reserve to get in line behind Nyambe ? What we want are players that come in and from day one take a first team shirt by right. I realise not everybody that comes in can fit that category but we've already got another team's worth of players who aren't really up to the task of playing at this level regularly.
  2. Yes, you can't beat reporting on a win or two. Let's hope for more of the same.
  3. Another reason to get your prostate examined guys. Don't be shy, it could kill you !
  4. I think he played for Rovers, Burnley and Preston. Not many can say that.
  5. I'm sorry to hear that. Playing for the Dingles can have that effect.
  6. The new Keith Treacy. Is he still playing ?
  7. Just don't let him near the cheque book and he's OK.
  8. We're usually set up so Dack can play the No 10 role behind a lone striker. If you wanted to play two up front for instance like the Dingles do where would you put Dack ? Not in the two up front and not really in the four in midfield. At least I can't see Dyche signing him.
  9. Jack Marshall specialised in it. As well as Pickering he moved a very average wing half ( midfield player to the kids ) in Andy McEvoy up along side Pickering and created a goal scoring machine. Bryan Douglas was moved from the wing to centre midfield to run the show. Mike Ferguson came as a attacking midfield player and quickly got moved onto the right wing. Mike England started out in midfield but got moved to centre half. Keith Newton moved from centre half to full back. It does make you wonder if managers try players out in different positions these days. Apart from our Tony who does it in competitive matches !
  10. I said at the time you need to play newly promoted teams after a month or two of the season, not first game up. Play them when they've got a few injuries, a suspension or two and the gloss of being on a promotion roll has worn off. Of course plenty of people said " You're talking rubbish Tyrone, we'll batter them ! " Well we might batter them and Luton at home now but sadly that ship, and the 6 points, has sailed.
  11. Most of the time we've set up our team and the way we play around Dack. I'm not sure how many of the teams that can afford to buy him would want to do that.
  12. It got to were I couldn't watch it in the end. It was just too upsetting. Away from the screen people were actually living their lives like that.
  13. Given the way referee's seem to blow up for anything that looks remotely like contact I was expecting the whistle to blow after that incident..
  14. That's why you need players playing on their " Natural " side. If that had been a left footed player that had received that pass maybe the outcome would have been different.
  15. It would have been a bit like Rovers appointing Dunny. Popular ex player but not cut out to do anything more than blowing the balls up for training.
  16. It was a " Coylesque " type of appointment. Relegation written all over it. What made them think he would be a successful manager ?
  17. So does Walton unfortunately.
  18. That's the difference. If you can get around the sides of teams and play the ball in it makes life so much easier for the strikers. Defenders get turned around so they're running back towards their own goal. It's a lot easier to lose your maker then. Lumping it up from the halfway line makes it easy for the defenders because they see the ball and whoever they are marking. The thing about Dack's pass to Bennett was he gave it early instead of taking an extra touch like lots of players do.
  19. Two good bits of play from Dack today. He made the first goal look simple when it would have been easy to panic and throw a boot at the ball. Then a really nice inside ball for Bennett to run on to for the second goal. Getting in up the byeline like Bennett did is a killer, all the defenders are running back towards their own goal, it's easy to do what Gallagher did and just get away from your marker for a side footed shot on goal.
  20. Mm, I suppose we'd be getting a decent wedge off the wage bill.
  21. I've only seen brief highlights but early on he got down to parry a simple shot from distance and he looked like he was getting into bed after a night on the ale. He's OK if you bang it right at him but if the ball's going to the side he makes it look like really hard work. I know Raya had his faults but this guy isn't an improvement.
  22. Yes I thought that myself to be honest. We ended up in a bunch under the ball yet we still didn't deal with it.
  23. What's the chances of Mulgrew being back in January ?
