You can do it that from that point if you like but I was thinking more of since Mowbray joined us. -

Let me pose you all the question I posed Chaddy earlier - if you could turn back the clock how many of Mowbray's signings would you still sign ? A handful at the most as far as I'm concerned. -

So where would you play Brereton then ? If you had your time again how many of Mowbray's signings would you still sign ? -
Flamengo V River Plate

The sending offs were right at the end when emotions were high. I like a meaty challenge. All this " There was contact " shite coming out of the mouths of grown men when it's a challenge I could have ridden when I was 10 years old makes me sick. -
Anybody else watch this last night ? I enjoyed it, the atmosphere was fantastic. River Plate were by far the better team for 85 minute but two mistakes killed them. I thought the ref had a good game. He let a lot more go than ref's do over here. It kicked off a bit at the end but that was more to do with the two late goals than anything else.

You're deluding yourself. It was more exciting then just watching just watching Ronnie Clayton run out before the game. -
It's not just about the number of goals conceded, it's the type of goals.

It was a more linear game in those days, now it's more lateral. I've said before we ought to put the goals at the side of the pitch these days. In that era when you got the ball in midfield you'd 4 players at least in front of you to pass to, now you've got 1. Having real wingers playing out wide made the pitch bigger when you had the ball. When they get the ball now the first thing they do is come inside or give back it to the full back. That just condenses the play. Mowbray's teams take the ball stood still all the time. The team in that video were taking the ball on the run. That makes a massive difference. -

Compared with today's football it looks like they're playing another game entirely. -

Two left backs who aren't good enough, don't forget Hart. -

I can't get excited about any prospective signings with the current management team in place. There's more chance of the them being a flop than a success I'm afraid. -
Sounds like Big Ben.

Tony Mowbray Discussion

My paper's full of him at the moment. There's an interesting article about management with a revealing quote from Gordon Strachan which I'll paraphrase - " Football operates in cycles. The third year is fatal, the moment when the critical mass of players tire of the techniques and idiosyncrasies of their manager, when one or the other has to change ". Ring any bells Tony ? Previously in the article it mentioned Liverpool losing to Watford in the FA cup. Bill Shankly went into the dressing room after the game and told 5 of his long established stars that they were finished and he'd be moving them out and new blood would be brought in. He said " It had to be done and if I didn't do it I'd be shirking my obligations ". The players changed but his methods did not - " We played to our strengths. We pressured everybody and we made them run. " How times have changed. -
If Tony goes...
