  1. I agree with you regarding your goalkeeper being vital. When Brian Clough went out and broke the record by signing Peter Shilton he said " Nobody can lose you a game quicker than your goalkeeper so I want the best money can buy ".
  2. Yes you're right, that was a perfect description of him. Guys at work used to rate him off the usual highlights reel. I'd reply " Yeah but that's all he did in the game" . He ran around a bit but to what effect ? Anybody who let's Arteta poke him in the eye and does nothing about it hasn't much beating under badge for me. It's like the myth that he was a good header of the ball - show me all the headed goals he scored ! Bellamy was faster running backwards.
  3. What other team in this Division would offer him anything ?
  4. " If tha does owt for nowt do it for thesen ". Translation _ If you do anything for nothing do it for yourself.
  5. Don't you just love insurance companies.
  6. I think your pal is right but how long is this situation allowed to go on ? He's been out for 18 months now without him being seriously injured initially. I seem to remember his last game was at Rochdale in that egg cup we were in and as far as I can recall he didn't get injured in that game. He's either got to be fit enough to play or retire if the injury isn't responding to treatment.
  7. Get your season tickets now , be careful you don't get trampled in the rush ! What a joke, Rodwell is the only one of those that will contribute anything next season.
  8. Form and results will write off any signing wether we like it or not.
  9. Err, Gladwin, Whittingham, Caddis, Hart, Harper on loan ?
  10. I agree with all the previous posters, this is an essential site for all Rovers fans wherever you are. Keep up the good work lads.
  11. Tell me you just made that up !
  12. A pal of mine who does a bit of scouting reckons that a striker at Charlton called Taylor is worth a bid. I've forgotten his first name.
  13. Just compare those two kits. If you ever doubted that the people running the club have absolutely no idea those two photos sum it all up. And that's without this season's " 'City " shirt.
  14. Yeah It could be more like £7 million today.
  15. Just as an aside - Paul Caddis released at Bradford and Jordan Slew released at Boston ( Lincs ).
  16. I'm not decrying this lad at all but some times goalies at bottom teams look good because of the sheer amount of work they have to do. The top keepers can go 20 minutes hardly touching the ball but will pull out a fantastic save the first time the ball comes their way.
  17. Judge had a really badly broken leg when he was at Brentford. Just prior to the bigger clubs moving in on him. As I recall he was out for over a year. That's a bad injury which ever way you look at it. He never got back into contention at Brentford afterwards and they moved him on to Ipswich. I'd suggest if he isn't seen as being good enough at Brentford he isn't good enough for a Rovers team looking to get into the play offs. It's a shame really because I liked him when he was with us, reminded me a lot of Johnny Price out on that right wing.
  18. I can't blame any player for not playing if they're not insured. I only played as an amateur but I wouldn't turn out without insurance.
  19. I agree, he'll make a decent defensive player. He needs to improve his heading and crossing. Both can be worked on.
  20. Nyambe can burst forward ok but there's been very little end product so far. I speak as a fan of the lad.
  21. I'm sure I have memories of them being a decent side in the old First Division under Jimmy Sirrel.
  22. No Joe for me. There must be better keepers out there. I'd prefer to stay with Raya to be honest if that was the choices.
  23. Machiavelli had nothing on you JH.
