Looks like it. I take it for what it is-a game of football. Tonight's game had me on the edge of my seat.

As a real pedant can I just mention that the England v Brazil game in 1970 was in the group stage. I know it felt like a semi final but it wasn't.

I agree, you need the players that can play it out from the back to play that game. Our two girls are decent defenders but ball players they aren't.

I agree about our passing, it was poor tonight. we played a bit tip tappy I thought. Nevilles influence there. I thought he dropped a bollock playing Parris up front for the first hour, it never worked with two up front and we got over run in midfield.

Best team won I thought. They played a high line and we only rarely found a way through. If you miss pens you can't complain. Definite pen though, her striking foot was just nudged as she went for the ball.

Just not our night. We didn't play to our strengths. Penalty was horrible. Small goalies- go high with the shot !

And what else ?

That's it with wingers, if they aren't on song they're a passenger. Midfield has been non existent, second to too many balls. It's like watching Rovers.

You're making the mistake of thinking Rovers work like a normal club. Who says we'll see any of whatever fee we get for Raya ? Regarding his kicking I saw a video of him training not long ago. He was side volleying the ball to a guy maybe 50 yards away with terrific accuracy. Straight to the other guy at chest height. I was a decent outfield player but I couldn't have done what he was doing so consistently. Why his kicking goes all to pot once the whistle blows I don't know, it's a mystery.

A pal of mine just showed me video of the Rochdale pitch this weekend. It looks like it's been done by the same guy who did Wayne Rooney's hairpiece. If our game goes ahead on the 14th I'll be amazed.

As of now I agree with you, basically a repeat of last season. Things could change if make a couple of astute signings.

I agree with you that Gallagher would bring more to the table than Brererton and he's more likely to fulfill the Graham role in the future but I don't honestly think he's the answer to our central striker problems. He's another one who lacks physicality and aggression. If we could give him some of what Big Sam gave Kevin Davies it might be another story.

It's like any walk of life - Having the right attitude is everything. I used to train apprentices. I told them " I'm not overly bothered how bright you are, if your attitude is right I can turn you into an engineer, if your attitude isn't right I'm sorry but we're wasting each others time ".

I'm not surprised. Have you bought any blades lately ? You'd think they were made out of gold. In my " Boots " the don't have them on display any more. The have a series of photo cards, you choose the blades you want and take the photo to the counter. The real blades were " getting stolen by druggies " according to the sales assistant.

Where does our actual, real, new midfielder ( Downing ) fit into that line up ? Play Dack out wide and you're playing to his weaknesses not his strengths.
