  1. I've had the feeling all along that Mowbray was offered the chance of taking this lad on by whoever runs the show for Venkies. I'd be surprised if Mowbray had actually had him scouted at a serious level. It was a take it or leave it deal. He possibly thought " What have I got to lose ? " . Well we'll soon find out out. For that sort of money we needed somebody who was the first name on the team sheet, not somebody who was the first name on the subs list.
  2. He needs to grow up. It's not a school playground on here.
  3. You may not have noticed but Nyambe is injured.
  4. You can forget that, he's our player. We just start paying for him in the New Year.
  5. Lost in team selection I'm afraid.
  6. Towards the end of his time at Rovers he was poor. I remember seeing his stats and he was bottom of the class regarding saves made. Like you say every shot from distance was a goal. Maybe he was " bad with his lamps " as my dear old mum says.
  7. Thanks for that Tony, I read every word as always. I'm very grateful that you take the time to analyse each game.
  8. The problem is we can be 3-0 and coasting with 10 minutes to go and we all know the game isn't over. That's a ridiculous state of affairs.
  9. Yeah I thought their players were using an " invisibility cloak " at one point !
  10. Just watched the highlights. Looks like we'd " gone " mentally at the end. They had two really good chances at the end were we were nowhere attacking the ball. We rode our luck then twice but you can't keep riding it. We just ambled out when the ball is cleared, no pressure on the ball, so their right back has bags of time to turn around and throw it back into the mixer. We survive that but we were obviously still not at the races. The resulting corner is exactly were you want a corner to be, nobody in blue and white gets anywhere near it. I liked that bit were Rodwell ran the ball out and improvised a really nice pass under pressure. Little bit of class there.
  11. As I understand it Brereton is a Rovers player. We just begin paying for him in January.
  12. This is getting beyond a joke. It's been going on too long. That's the 3rd time this season that we've conceded with the last kick of the game in how many games ? We were within an ace of making it 4 on Saturday. Don't let anybody try to tell me we haven't got a problem playing games out because we obviously have.
  13. Looks like three at the back to me - Lenihan, Rodwell, Williams with Nyambe and Bell as wing backs. Conway, Rothwell and Palmer in midfield with Brereton and Armstrong up front as a pair.
  14. Yep, I've read Batty's as well. Seems like all of them were just passing through.
  15. Ones with a Rovers connection I've read - Le Saux, Bellamy, Big Sam, Souness. None of them are particularly revealing about their time at Ewood.
  16. Louis Bimpson played for both clubs I think. That's a blast from the past.
  17. No excuses for him not starting the game at Bournemouth up front. The perfect game for him. A low profile away fixture that we aren't expected to win were the attendance will be relatively small and the pressure will be minimal
  18. I thought we won that game 3-2.
  19. I liked Kalinic and I thought he was a decent player. Unfortunately things didn't work out for him for several reasons. Subsequently he's reached his true potential with some top clubs in Europe. I hope the Brereton saga has a more profitable ending for Rovers.
  20. I agree with most of that Gav although we have had one or two other good results over that period. The win at Old Trafford under Keanochio, the win at Wolves to keep us up, the FACup win at Arsenal, that run in the FACup a year or two back. I've always said all I want from our team is that when they come off the pitch they've given it their absolute best shot. It appears at the moment that this group of players has bought into that ethos. As you say we're not the finished item yet but the initial signs are looking good. This time last year I was trudging off Boundary Park having seen us come off second best to an hard working Oldham team. I'd just watched a pretty disjointed performance were we had looked a poor team and the prospects of promotion appeared to be a million miles away. Obviously a lot can happen in a year in football. We're going well in the Championship and Oldham are bumping along in the bottom division. As Greavsey used to say " It's A Funny Old Game ".
  21. At the moment none of the teams in our league are unbeatable.
  22. I would have taken 5 points from the last 3 games without hesitation. I thought we may have got them in a different fashion though. As in 2 away draws and 1 home win but at the end of the day it's the points that matter. I've seen the goals on TV' and Bennett's long cross field pass was just perfect. I liked the way Reed got the ball out of his feet quickly to put away the third goal. Good to see a midfield player getting beyond the strikers for that goal also. On the down side it's a bit un nerving to see us fall apart after conceding just one goal. We should really be able to take that in our stride and carry on playing the way we were previously. Great result though that really made my day.
  23. Yeah I know that. What I've forgotten is who I bet with.
