  1. Nah, I do that in my " Paul & Shark " polo's. it's not the price that puts me off it's the design and the quality. We haven't had a decent shirt for years. The last one I considered worth buying was the " Uhlsport- CIS " shirt that I still wear.
  2. I can't see Southgate changing anything. If we had the personnel in the squad to make significant changes he might do but we haven't. We haven't a player to man mark Modric. It's a specialised role and not many players have that ability. They way the refs are these days and the way clever players draw and exaggerate fouls no marker would last the whole game. The days of Nobby Stiles giving Eusebio a good kicking and staying on the pitch are long gone. The way Modric gets about the pitch whoever marked him would be very tired by the end of the game. He must be an Olympic class athlete as well.
  3. You mustn't have been watching the same game as me then. All I can remember of Alli in the first half is a succession of miss placed passes. Second half he got involved more but he's a show pony for me. As you say who would we replace him with ? There's no answer to that one.
  4. There's not enough end product with Lingard and Alli for me, Lingard especially is too easily shrugged off the ball in my opinion. He's used to playing in the Premier League were every little push is a free kick. In this World Cup pretty strong challenges have been allowed and he's not up to the challenge. Young looks what he his, a winger being asked to play full back. It's a bit like us playing Conway there. Having to keep coming back onto his right foot is slowing us down. That second or two it takes to change feet is the difference between Kane being marked or not being marked. If you can't land a corner accurately you shouldn't be taking them. That's a given for me. Stirling looks like he could go the rest of his career for England and not score a goal. He doesn't even look like scoring. Look at the golden chances he's had this tournament. He's fluffed the lot and badly fluffed them at that. He's the sort of player that can do the instinctive things well but give him time to think and he invariably takes the wrong option.
  5. If we are to progress to the final we need to respect possession more. Our passing was very sloppy at times yesterday with Alli especially being guilty of not finding a red shirt. We also started the game very slowly and we were playing walking football almost right from the off. That was exactly what Sweden wanted us to do. I think we always play better when we up the tempo. Against Croatia if we play at a slow tempo they'll just pass through and around us. I was surprised to see a team playing with three centre backs and a midfield sweeper get opened up several times down the centre by simple through balls. Croatia will be looking to exploit that weakness. Another issue is we have a top class goal scorer in Kane yet the supply to him was almost non existent in the last two game. His hold play is great when he drops deep but ideally we need him going in the other direction. I think if everyone is fit we'll start with the same 11 that started yesterday but I remain to be convinced regarding several players. Lingard, Alli, Stirling, Young to name a few names. I'm concentrating on the negatives because the positives take care of themselves.
  6. It's wether we want to risk signing a player who's just had a serious injury which was one of a series of similar injuries. For me it's a loan or we look elsewhere.
  7. I had doubts about him and I still have. If he comes up with a plan to beat Croatia I'll hold my hand up.
  8. How will they know he's not still on strike ?
  9. I think they're solid at the back but not outstanding. Up front they are a bit lightweight. It's in midfield were they have a massive advantage. Modric did as much tonight for them as both Alli and Lingard combined did for us this afternoon.
  10. If Kane doesn't get any service he'll struggle to make an impact. Modric will make an impact because he doesn't have to rely on other players giving him the ball.
  11. Me too. His touch is like Velcro, his passing is always on the button, and he thinks quick and runs quick. The amount of ground he covers is amazing. I can't recall seeming him have a quiet game. It's like having an extra player.
  12. Not a great deal between England and Croatia apart from the fact they have Modric. If there's been a better midfield player in this competition I haven't seen him. He's been immense. Tugay with pace. He's the difference between the two teams. As long as he's on the pitch they must be favourites.
  13. What are you going to say if we actually play really well next match ? You've run out of superlatives already I thought we blew hot and cold. The final ball was lacking most of the time and a simple long ball through the middle had us struggling on more than one occasion. Off for a pint now. More considered thoughts later.
  14. If you were a neutral you'd say that's one of the worst halves of football in the whole comp. we've passed it backwards as much as we've passed it forwards.
  15. Too slow, too predictable, too obvious.
  16. Very, very poor start. We never look good playing walking football.
  17. He's got no pace and when did you last see him tackle an opponent ?
  18. So has Whittingham, allegedly.
  19. A few more stats from today's paper. Regarding the supply to the tournaments top goalscorer. Kane has recieved 79 passes so far yet only 24 have come from Lingard, Alli and Sterling. Most of those have come when he's had his back to goal. Trippier has only made 3 passes to Kane and Young has made 4. Dele Ali has given the ball away 23 times in the games he has played. If we want to win today those stats will have to improve a lot.
  20. I can't understand that team, what point is it you're trying to make ?
  21. Very wise. My wife had the remote otherwise I would have done the same.
  22. First half he did well, second half he was a liability. I don't take much notice of what Danny Murphy says, I go off what my eyes are telling me. He'd have been a penalty taker in the event of a shoot out so you'd keep him on normally.
  23. They want it enough, are they good enough ? Brazil had enough chances to win two games in the second half.
  24. Not me, if you look back nearly ever time he had the ball in the second half he lost it. Why do you think he got subbed ?
  25. I agree, you can find the three centre backs marking one striker at times yet they still never bring the ball out from the back. I thought that was why we had John Stones in the team.
