We got lucky moving Fred from left back to centre forward. We were stuck for a striker in the reserves because of injuries and he offered to have a go, the rest was history. He'd have ended up at somewhere like Rochdale with Dave Wells if he'd have stayed at left back. The least said about Joe Haverty the better.

If we're still well placed when the window opens after Xmas will we be in for another striker ?

There's a lot of if's in that. -
" Lowe challenging " ! He must have been calling the other guy names. Classic photo.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Jason Lowe captain England U-20's ? Enough said.

When Pogba was there as a lad nobody at UTD was too bent out of shape about his performances and expectations were quite low. When he comes back to the club with a massive price on his head they are concerned and expectations are high. That's football.
-
And we were still robbed !

I'll have a bet now he keeps them in the league. -
You want to tell that to the UTD fans who are less than impressed with Pogba. Of course the £90 million fee will have nothing to do with that either. Do you really believe what you post ?

I had that once in a Quiz league I was in. I'd have never guessed it was West Brom. -
It'll be interesting to see how he plays on Saturday. Shop window ?
-
Yeah Jim was good. A very calm and unshowy goalkeeper who was very consistent. He made that job look simple.

Not by me renrag. Even so that's not as great as it sounds. Eddie Hopkinson and Alan Hodgkinson, Tony Waiters all had caps at that time as well as Banks and Springett, Gordon West and Peter Bonnetti were coming through and got caps slightly later. Lots of other Div 1 teams had Welsh, Irish and Scots goal keepers. I didn't think he was big enough and I lost count of the times the ball ended up in the back of our net and I was stood there thinking " How did that get in there ? " A bit like Robbo in his last season with us.

Well how many times have we been in a similar situation. -
I keep telling you I'm not a pro scout. However are you seriously telling me that there isn't another player in the whole of Europe that can't play a similar role for £7 million ?
-
The trouble is he's treading water at Rovers whilst we desperately needed a back up for Graham. We live in the present not two years in the future.
-
You mean Christian " Bloody " Dailly. Jim Smith tells the story that he'd heard through the grapevine that Rovers were interested in Dailly so he approached his board to find out how much they wanted for him. The chairman told him - " Not a penny less than £2 million Jim ". He nearly fell off his chair when Hodgson phoned him and started the bidding at £5 Million. He played hard to get and managed to get the fee up a bit further !
-
Exactly.
-
That's why it's a puzzle that we didn't sign a Danny Graham MK 2 and went for somebody completely different.
-
I never rated Fred Else. He was one of the reasons the brilliant attacking team of the early 1960's never won anything in my opinion. I only ever saw him play one outstanding game in all the games I saw him play. Brad was outstanding regularly.

I hope we've managed to sort out how to defend at corners. Craig Dawson is probably one of the best at attacking corners in the league. -
If you watch that video that was posted on here Parson it consisted mainly of clips of the lad picking the ball up out wide and running in field at people with the ball. Other than that I couldn't see what his real attributes were. He didn't look to carry much of a goal threat. Worryingly he didn't appear to be particularly strong and seemed to go to ground easily. Another concern was for a tall guy he appeared to have very little heading ability. Would I have signed him for £7million on the strength of that video ? No.

If you don't like people using the laughing symbol on your posts you could always set an example by not doing it yourself.

It's got to have an effect. You may start of ok but you won't be at your best.
