  1. I thought I'd made that pretty clear. No. I would have thanked him for his service and allowed him to join another club. Re-signing him isn't a step in the right direction. Just my opinion of course.
  2. I could never figure that one out. First time I saw him play for Utd I said to myself " Bloody hell, they're got another star in the making there ". When he came to Rovers I thought he looked a good player and when we got promoted I thought " Well we're OK at right back. ". Then he just faded out of the picture. I don't think he got injured. Strange.
  3. As you say if he he starts that's a sub used up straight away. It doesn't make any sense to me. The guy is getting older and slower and we're playing at a higher level.
  4. You mean like Harper and Hart were young and hungry ?
  5. Not happy with that to be honest. That money could have been better spent elsewhere. How many games will he start next season ?
  6. When I read he'd played in centre midfield for the England U-21 team I was expecting to see a young David Dunn or a young David Batty. What I saw was a short guy who was really technically limited with nothing about him that would suggest he would play more than a game or two at first team level. His awareness of what was going on around him was poor also. He looked slightly better at right back without ever really looking the part.
  7. I couldn't believe how bad he was when I first saw him play. I went through the usual check list and apart from running around he didn't tick any of the usual boxes. He never got any better either.
  8. Sensible deal for Graham. I think that suits everybody concerned.
  9. Would you have him at Rovers ?
  10. I could have saved Chelsea ( and Rovers ) a lot of money. First time I saw him play I thought Todd Kane would never make a decent full back as long as he lives.
  11. Darren Moore came up the hard way through the lower leagues. He knows the other side of football. As far as I can see all Campbell knows about is the big boys and being on mega bucks.
  12. I do my best to avoid listening to all of them. 90% of the time they're just stating the obvious.
  13. If we do make half a dozen signings I would hope that at least a couple of them will be good enough to go straight into the first team. I wouldn't want to see us sign the likes of Hart, Harper, Gladwin, Caddis etc again. City won the Premier League in a canter last season but they'll be bringing in players to strengthen that team. The minute you stand still in football you actually start going backwards. We made that mistake when we won the Premier League.
  14. I've talked to a couple of Rochdale supporting pals and they thought he did ok there before he got injured. They'd have him back. Having said that they're playing at a lower level.
  15. I remember Francis Lee talking about Paul Lake. He said " Bobby Moore with pace ". That's high praise indeed. Another one whose career was ruined by injury.
  16. I don't think he was too impressive at Rochdale and then he got injured. I think he played against Rovers in the league game at the Crown Oil Arena but I can't say I can remember much about him from that game.
  17. West Brom looking to sign a goalscoring midfield player from Bristol City. Maybe Dack's off their agenda.
  18. I still have hopes for Nyambe. He has the No 1 requirement for a full back - he's quick. You can't teach pace but you can teach the rest regarding full back play. If that recent injury hasn't slowed him down I'm expecting him to establish himself next season.
  19. First time I saw him play I thought - " The new Colin Bell ".
  20. Another 6 ft 1in guy who jumps 5ft 10 ins. I don't think he'll make a good championship player.
  21. His agent must be a genius. The loaves and fishes miracle had nothing on getting Lowe another two year con trick , sorry contract.
  22. I don't know. He was offered terms at Rovers as a lad before he'd ever played for the first team, but he chose to go elsewhere.
  23. Franz Carr looked like becoming a world beating winger in his early days, he just never got any better as he got older.
