  1. I was thinking of being fickle but after 56 years I just couldn't be bothered.
  2. OK , I'll come clean. I'm Eden Hazards agent, if only I can get rid of Craig Conway at Blackburn I could move him in there.
  3. I was thinking more of the word " DIE " under the " Venky's.
  4. I trust Mowbray to behave in an ethical and honest fashion. I think he's proven that in the short time he's been at the club. Having said that he's just like the rest of us, he's not infallible. He'll make mistakes, every manager makes mistakes. I reserve the right to criticise Mowbray when he does.
  5. I saw him play enough to know his legs have gone. It happens to every player at some point in their career. Some sooner than later . In a winger that's pretty crucial. Next season that will be shown up more than this season. If they see him in a back room role why don't they say so. Nobody at the club has mentioned him being involved in the coaching side of the game.
  6. Anyone on here think Conway had a good season last season ?
  7. Very, very strange appointment.
  8. You mean it's " weird " that I have an opinion regarding a team I've supported since 1962 ? I have a good idea what he's brought to the team out on the pitch this past season. Not a lot. And next season will be much more of a challenge for every player in the squad. We can't afford any passengers.
  9. I don't agree. We should only be signing or re-signing players that can be reasonably expected to be first team regulars. Signing players that we are already expecting to have a " back up " role , whatever that means, is crazy.
  10. Nah but my pal was very similar in style and appearance to Dougie. He was back page headline news in the " Manchester Evening News " when he signed for Utd. " Schoolboy Soccer Star Signs For The Reds ". A really bad knee injury finished him at 18 , today they could have probably fixed it. He played in the same England Schools Team as Barry Bridges, John Talbut, Willie Carlin, etc.
  11. One thing is for sure - there hasn't been a stampede from other clubs wanting to snap Conway up. That tells me a lot.
  12. Chaddy I played at a good level of football. Mainly either left or right back but as a lad I played all over the park. The attributes I needed to be a good left back then are exactly the same as you need now to play well at left back, nothing has changed in that respect. You needed pace, quickness in the turn, you needed to know when and where to commit to the tackle, how to jockey the guy you were playing against. Decent heading ability, the ability to pass accurately with both feet, short passes as well as long. You need to be able to communicate clearly, especially with the rest of the back four and the guys playing directly in front of you. You need to be able to read the game and sense danger before it happens. Know when to overlap and when to stay at home. What applied then applies equally now. Fitness, tactics, formations etc can all be taught. Inate footballing ability comes with playing from the minute it gets light until the minute it goes dark. And then it was under the street lights for more. I used to knock about with a guy who played as a striker for England Schoolboys, he practiced with a tennis ball on a cobbled street near his house. In games you couldn't get the ball off him.
  13. Great, where abouts is it you live ? I'll pop around later for your cheque. Get the cat a goldfish.
  14. How would you feel if you were signing the cheques ? It's easy when it's other people's money. We've spunked enough money in the past on signings that didn't make any real sense.
  15. Who would you rather have - Armstrong ( a wide forward ? ) or a fully fit Chapman ( an out and out winger ) ? I know who I'd chose out of those two. There's a lot of rubbish talked about modern football , the game hasn't changed that much over the years.
  16. Now there's a player who threw his career away.
  17. I don't want " defensive " wingers especially the ones that are " defensive " because they're too slow to be " offensive ".
  18. I believe Sunderland are considering re-appointing Coleman.
  19. If we spend £1.5 million on a player this Summer I'll be amazed.
  20. I agree with that. If we aren't planning to play Armstrong up front in partnership with another striker anything over £750,000 is a waste of money. He's never going to be a winger in a million years.
  21. The likes of James Collins are way out of our reach financially. As an established Premier League player with a London club he'll be on at least twice as much as our highest paid player, maybe even three times or more. We aren't shopping at that level anymore.
  22. No, Chaddy would prefer 3 centre backs.
  23. Why are Bradford releasing him ? Just asking. I have hopes Nyambe might make the grade and Bennett might fancy making that position his own. Do we really need another right back given how light we are in other positions.
  24. Is he an improvement on what we've already got ?
