A Kevin Moran or an Andy Todd would be handy right now.

I like Dack loads , he's been great for us , he's like a breath of fresh air at Rovers. Having said that he's not fit to lace Best's training shoes never mind his boots. The bloke was up there with Cruyff, Greaves, Di Stefano, Eusebio, the geniuses of 1960's football. Dack's the latest cult hero, he reminds me a lot of Tony Field in the way he's idolised by the fans. Let's hope he doesn't get snaffled up by a Premier League club as Field was.

It's a bit early to say if we are a good pressing team. First impressions are a bit mixed.

I don't think we have enough soldiers. Raya - Only a lad Nyambe - Ditto, but could become one in the fullness of time. Lenihan - Definitely a soldier. Mulgrew - Soldier in spirit but if the body keeps telling you that you aren't it's hard to argue. Bell - Too early to say. Bennett - Yep, he 's a soldier. Smallwood - He's been a soldier but currently on leave. Evans - Could be one if he got his mad up, doesn't do it often though. Palmer - Mm he looks to be a lover not a fighter to me. Armstrong - Not a soldier physically but could be one in terms of effort. Dack - I think he likes a scrap so I'll say yes there. Graham - Same as Charlie Boy, he likes the physical side but his body keeps telling him to behave. One of the reasons we got relegated was we were too easily pushed around. We're better in that respect now but I'd like to see another couple of guys who like the physical side of the game brought in. Watching the young guy we'll all talking about , he's a bit willowy yet and he doesn't knock people about but he's not frightened of a meaty challenge and he does use his size quite well.

I think his agent will see to that.

But not your typing finger. Smiley face. Please accept my apology, I shouldn't have been rude about someone I've never seen play.
 -
It doesn't sound like you learnt much in that time.

I think the first two already are to be honest. The Jury is out with Smallwood.

Mm Messi, not a bad player but he favours his left foot too much for my liking. Show him on to his right hand side and he's easy meat. On a serious note I can see why Bennett gets played out right these days. It's all about balance. You can only afford to play with one out and out attacking player on the flanks these days. If Palmer plays out wide Bennett balances the team on the other flank. Regarding Brereton, it's the " long term " bit I don't like. We needs a Graham MK 2 tomorrow, not in a years time.

I been thrilled with lots of our signings over the years. At the moment it looks like we're trying to build a team to win an indoor six a side competition. Like Mowbray said you need some soldiers in the team, they can't all be artists.

Have you ever played the game apart from " coats down for goalposts " on your local Rec?

When you have to include Jason Lowe in your argument it's time to call it a day.

My problem is I see a lot of players being signed/ approached with a view to signing and I don't see a pattern of play or a team structure emerging. We seem to be collecting No10's when just one really good central midfielder is also needed. I can see why we want a good back up centre half, no problem there. But having given Dack and Conway a new contracts, signed Palmer on a season long loan plus the other two attacking midfield players I can't see why we're looking at another one in Freeman. Chaddy was banging on not long ago about how an influx of new players may affect the team morale and motivation. Now he's all for a " shopping trolley dash " of new players. What's changed ? Years ago City were running away with the league. Looking to ensure they stayed on top for the run in they went out and signed Rodney Marsh. Marsh was a really brilliant individualistic player and on paper it was a great move. On grass by time they'd managed to incorporate Marsh into their team structure they'd lost the lead at the top of the league and the title with it.

There'd be people outraged on here if we were looking to sell for example Travis or Nyambe for £3 million. Nobody wants to see home grown lads go to other clubs just as they break into the team, that's natural. Forest have plenty of dosh so they don't have to sell, in that case obviously the fans will be unimpressed.
 -
You see them all playing in the same team ? How many will be happy sitting on the bench ? Last time we played 2-3-5 I was still in short pants.
 -
I'd certainly start with Graham up front.

I'd have to scrub a few of those off. Big Club , Fulham, Sheffield Utd. Norwich maybe. Maybe add West Brom to the list. We've a long way to go but I'd like to think we're on our way back. -
When we play the new kid on the block up front with Armstrong and with Dack just in behind the grafting teams will be dominating us in midfield be cause of sheer weight of numbers. 5 grafters will always dominate 3. I'd love us go back to having three up front but that's not how football is played now. There's a reason for that.
 -
Not really, Onuha's been a good pro but time is not on his side. Ireland could be the new Danny Murphy. Kirchhoff I don't know much about ?
 -
So when we sign him you'd expect him to play at centre forward for us then ?
 -
We're not buying a picture to hang on the wall here. We're looking to strengthen the team with a view to staying in this division and possibly even vying for a play off position. Watching the video this lad likes to play out wide yet he's not a winger. He very rarely appears in a central position so he's not a centre forward. In that video I don't recall seeing him win challenged headers or even scoring a headed goal. What does he bring to the party that Armstrong doesn't ? The way we're set up to play I can't see us fitting both of Armstrong and this lad in the same team, anymore than I can see Armstrong and Gallagher in the same team. Maybe his fan club can educate me as to a possible line up with him in it ? I'd be delighted if we had real money to spend but I'd expect it to be spent in a sensible fashion and not a speculative gamble. We've got enough experience in the team, if we have got some money we want the sort of up and coming players that are emerging in this division. The Lenehans and Dacks of other teams.

I agree regarding the back 4 , we're a bit thin on the ground if we get injuries. I like it when no one is guaranteed a place, makes 'em realise if they don't perform then there's other lads who will.
 -
I don't know anything about Baldock but I would have signed any of those other players in that list before I would be signing Brereton.
 -
I think that's fair enough regarding transfer issues. The local press needs to work in the best interests of the club and not sabotage our efforts.
 -
The deal was being done behind the kid's back as far as I can see. That's not how things work in today's football. It just doesn't hang right for me. The last thing we want is another Barry Ferguson scenario were the lad gets here under a bit of pressure and suddenly doesn't really fancy it.
