There's definitely value in signing Championship calibre players that can sit on your bench - we lacked even those last year. With money so tight though, you'd much rather focus on signing players that would improve the First XI, bumping our current starters to the bench.

Szmodics will be on his own timeline. He'll be pushing for a move as soon as possible. Like selling A. Wharton days before the January transfer window slammed shut, they'll be happy to oblige because they'll only be bothered about the money coming in.
