  1. We're desperate for out and out wingers, especially in this formation. Also is Harry Kane playing?
  2. Everyone knows why, but nobody in authority is doing anything about it...
  3. It's all irrelevant - we won't see a penny of it. It's just helped the owners (and by the sounds of it will continue to help them) keep their strangle hold on the club without investing any money. I'm resigned to that fact now - they're determined to kill us. The biggest travesty is that we only got to see him play for Rovers for 12 months.
  4. A brave manager would drop Kane. Obviously easier said than done considering the amount of goals he's scored. He's zero threat to run in behind - partly because he's now a lumbering oaf and partly because he seems to want to play as a #10. That reduces the way you can attack teams - and why most of our play is pretty 5 yard passes in-front of a settled defence. I'd give Watkin and Solanke a go. I wouldn't be opposed to throwing Delap into the mix too. We need a physical presence upfront.
  5. Rice is a DM. As much as people want to call him a CM / Box-to-Box Midfielder, he's at his best firefighting. Big lad, good engine and reads the game well. He simply doesn't have the range of passing to be played further forward - he's clearly most comfortable playing 5-10 yard passes to more technically proficient players.
  6. It was their PR move to head off Eustace's talking point about there not being a long-term plan. It looks to have spectacularly backfired.
  7. To a degree. I play on a Wednesday night with someone similar to Bellingham - plays as a False 9 / 10 / 8 (it's quite hard to get him to stick to one position, he just wanders around!) and demands the ball. It completely disrupts the shape and rhythm of the team - even though technically he's one of the better players there. Bellingham's performance last night reminded me massively of that - he was allowed to show up wherever he wanted and demand the ball. Meanwhile Foden and Rashford were clearly under strict instructions to stay to their wings to open up as much space as possible for Bellingham to operate in in the middle.
  8. Probably, but he doesn't need to touch the ball as much as he does. He DEMANDS it from teammates rather than complementing them.
  9. He's not a winger, that's why. He was shoved out wide to accommodate Jamie Tartt - sorry Jude Bellingham.
  10. We look much more dangerous with Watkins at #9 cos he's actually willing and able to run in behind. Kane lumbers around getting in the way.
  11. I hate watching Kane play CF. He always drops so fucking deep. Why aren't you in the 6 yard box you lumbering oaf.
  12. If you want to go deeper, we're one of only 15 clubs to win ANYTHING this century (not counting L2, L1, Championship titles).
  13. I'd suggest Batty and Duru are the next two men up on the Academy conveyer belt. Especially when you consider the lack of squad depth there (unless they somehow find the money to sign Ribeiro to a longer contract in the summer). Don't know much about the central defenders, but they younger ones are quite highly rated I gather. Garrett - wow, what has happened there? He always struck me as a tidy, intense CM. He held his own in the Championship - he seems to have fallen off a cliff this year. You'd think he'd be the first name on the team sheet in L1, never mind L2.
  14. Travis, Carter, S. Wharton - all mainstays in the team. JRC is fine (if he wasn't constantly injured) and Buckley is a busted flush. The Academy produces one or two PL talents every five years. That's simply the nature of the beast - we're in a ridiculous catchment area (Liverpool, Man City, Man U, Everton) so we don't get the absolute cream of the crop, but we make the best of what we do get our hands on. It's also why their policy of relying on the Academy to fund the club AND produce more than half of the starting XI is doomed to fail - even if it has saved them for the past five years. When Phillips and Finneran are being stolen from the cradle you have no chance.
  15. 4 years and we're still no closer to a resolution. No wonder India is a lawless state.
  16. If that's not a Venky's plant it's someone that needs their voting rights removed because they're too stupid for this planet.
  17. Are you not even slightly concerned that the manager we ran off had those journeymen loanees and Academy graduates in 5th for most of the year and the new bloke has them looking like a bunch of strangers?
  18. Their owners aren't actually that wealthy - they're certainly not billionaires. They've done the whole thing on finance.
  19. They're never getting their money back (if it even is their money).
  20. From 'significant January investment' to 'summer rebuild' in 4 matches. Ismael's career at Rovers is going at warp speed.
  21. Do we have a Director of Football?
  22. We should be so lucky. The authorities quickly step in when players aren't paid. Seriously doubt we've got to that stage... yet.
  23. Is that the Issa brothers? Aren't they both a bit shady (and apparently Manchester United fans)?
