  1. I think he's improved massively this season under JDT, but there's no getting away from the fact that he's a poor athlete at this level and he's there to be got at.
  2. Well we missed 4 golden chances against Rotherham and a couple against Boro, so I'd suggest it's a big part of the equation.
  3. Which is why I wanted Cantwell. Very similar player, would have provided great balance.
  4. Another shocker from Brereton-Diaz.
  5. Can you sort your posts out, please. You always have a massive blank space beneath them that makes reading the board more annoying. Thanks.
  6. Who they bought from Europe, yes.
  7. The Gallagher contract extension was criminal then and remains so now. You can't possibly he holding him up as the standard - Mowbray did that to spite us. He'll be one of our top earners and he's simply not good enough to warrant that.
  8. Why would you keep track of European players as a fan when we don't have a European Scout?
  9. We need a goal scorer more than anything else. Brereton-Diaz didn't return from the World Cup break and everyone else is missing golden chances. We beat both Boro and Rotherham if ANYONE could take the golden chances we created.
  10. I see. No concrete plan. Got it.
  11. Just out of interest, what's your promotion plan? I assume spend money we don't have and hope to go up automatically - competing against 3 teams with fresh massive parachute payments and half a dozen more multiple years into their parachute payments. What's your plan if that worked and we went up? You'd have to buy a totally new squad, right, like Forest? What's your plan if you failed to catch Burnley / Sheff Utd / Watford / Norwich et al and had spent £10m in the process?
  12. Sadly that's a bigger role.
  13. You think we're in a position to drop one of our few goal threats? Do you like relegation battles?
  14. You'll have Trading Standards on the phone if you're marketing Gallagher as a forward.
  15. He'd been in the building like 3 weeks - he simply doesn't have the credit in the bank right now with the owners to get them to budge from their ridiculous £15m asking price. I'm sure if he had free reign he'd have negotiated some of those £8m offers up a little and cashed in. You're asking him to perform miracles - he's already achieved a lot in 6 months and the signing of a promising CB and a proper backup GK this window (already) shows that there is succession planning. Rome wasn't built in a day.
  16. Broughton said lower third of the Championship when it comes to wage budget on that ASD Podcast. Basically they're approaching it the right way - our Academy costs us £3.5m a year and is one of the best in the country. That, coupled with some shrewd signings, is the only way we're going to progress as a team - we should lean heavily on it.
  17. Offering Gallagher a new deal was criminal at the time and remains so now.
  18. What are you suggesting? Putting a gun to his head?
  19. The Brighton coaching staff must have sleepless nights.
  20. God that's painful to read. Us being compared to Wigan, Preston, Blackpool and Burnley. I long for the days when they were irrelevant to us, rather than peers.
  21. I love the first comment that we have 5 keepers on the books. We have 1 that I'd trust.
  22. Where's Henderson these days? He's a better keepers than Raya - assume they sold him?
  23. 8/10. Lost me at saying the Broughton / JDT duo are a farce.
  24. I fell out of love with the club when we protested against the owners and Kean and the football world turned its back on us. I gave up my season ticket at that point as I was exasperated with how things were going. It's not the same club I loved growing up - one I was SO proud to support. These Indian owners have ripped the heart and soul out of the place. I renewed my season ticket about 3 years ago because I missed going to football matches with my parents - however I attend without anywhere near the same passion. The standard of the league is, quite frankly, abysmal and so are the players. Once you accept that it's a much more enjoyable experience - you certainly don't get attached to the players like you did Tugay / Jansen / Emerton et al because they're interchangeable mediocre journeymen these days. There's no magic at Ewood anymore.
  25. Don't fancy our chances here - we've failed to convert a glut of golden chances against Boro, Cardiff and Rotherham. Until someone starts doing that consistently we're going to continue to lose games we should be winning.
