  1. How many can play the #10 role to a high level? Hedges is a wide player for mine (and a good squad player) - he showed that on Saturday. I've yet to see Markanday play, but I gather he's a wide forward too? Dack - I think that 'athleticism' comment by Broughton was about him. Dolan brings energy, but his final product is wanting at times. From what I've seen of Szmodics he's someone that plays with his head up and brings teammates into the game - we're crying out for that.
  2. This Watford - Sheff Utd game has been a shocker.
  3. They're going to have to start eventually - you can't ask Travis and Buckley to do 90 minutes twice a week in this system.
  4. We don't need a 'first pick' player in CM - those two spots are nailed down by Travis and Buckley. We need reliable depth for the grind.
  5. I must have missed Wharton and Garrett playing in the Champions League last season.
  6. Broughton has literally just said that they went with a loan so as to not block the path of Wharton, Garrett et al. Morton is further along in his development - he's started a CL match at the San Siro ffs - so it's a sensible deal whilst also providing the opportunity for Garrett, Wharton etc to grasp playing time with both hands.
  7. Not really - the CMs are pivots in this system. One isn't meant to be better defensively than the other - that's just what we have now in Buckley and Travis. Assuming they trust Garrett and Wharton (and I assume Edun), then Morton just adds depth to the position.
  8. I thought he offered nothing in attack too - but I suspect JDT wants his #9 to be a pressing forward. Vale can do that at least - he wants his front 4 to hunt in a pack for a quick turnover of possession.
  9. There was a shouting match between coaching staff?
  10. Things are definitely coming to a head - he's one of the highest earners at the club and we're constantly told how tight the budget is. If he doesn't fit into the system, isn't willing to be an impact sub and we can move him on I suspect we will.
  11. I think they overegged the pudding with the hardship stories at the end, but enjoyed the match and delighted with the result.
  12. Imagine getting paid handsomely to sit on your arse for two years doing nothing and then throwing a hissy fit because you weren't subbed on.
  13. I didn't agree with most of this post, then you insulted AC/DC and lost me entirely.
  14. I genuinely couldn't tell you what Mowbray's plan was and I go every week.
  15. He's athletic, works hard and is technically competent, but his end product is generally underwhelming. I think he's a very good squad player at this level - someone you can bring on for 20 mins to inject some energy into your side in that 3 (of the 4-2-3-1), but he's not a starter. He just doesn't do enough on the ball.
  16. Now I'm convinced you're on the wind up - I gave you the benefit of the doubt before now. He provided an outlet in attack and was extremely competent in defence. More to come from him as he settles into the system with new players.
  17. Time and time again there was acres of space for Pickering to run into (with and without the ball), but he simply doesn't have the athleticism to do so at this level. You could see he was erring on the side of caution and hanging back rather than pushing on into the space - it leaves us very lopsided. This system requires the FBs to push on to provide the width - Brereton (or whoever) is meant to cut inside in this system.
  18. They can't put in that kind of shift twice a week. Quite a few players were out on their feet at 80 minutes - I think JDT left them on to get 90 minutes into their legs as QPR weren't really threatening. We need 3-4 quality additions if we want to do anything this season - LB is a glaring need.
  19. I did some work experience with Creatv (the company behind Rovers TV) many years ago. I told them that at the time - you can't hear yourself think in the stands with how loud the PA system is. Obviously I was ignored. They continue to turn it up to 11.
  20. If we want to do anything this year we need to replace Pickering at LB - he's unable to get forward enough to play in this system and we need better options than Hedges (squad player across that 3) and Vale.
  21. 4-2-3-1 Vale is miles off this standard. Hindering everything we do going forward.
  22. What teamsheet are you looking at? Its Brereton left, Hedges right, Vale at 10 and Gallagher at 9. (Albeit they'll interchange during the game)
