  1. Honestly I think he'd make a fine LWB - he's quite useful until he gets into the final third. Then it all falls apart for him.
  2. As much as I hate Gestede and co I'm not sure what you're getting at with these figures. I'm sure the figure is much lower than that 25%, in terms of players linked to signed, when you factor in that we've probably asked clubs about 100 players this summer. We're not Liverpool, Arsenal et al - our conversion rate is never going to be great. Coincidentally unlike Liverpool, Arsenal et al there are thousands of players that would easily improve us. There's perhaps a few dozen for them.
  3. On the ball, perhaps. Off the ball - PL wingers would roast him.
  4. It used to be that FBs were frustrated / failed CMs. Now a FB is often the best player on a team - they're asked to do SO much in the modern game.
  5. Let's say the offer from Broughton was to double his pay to £6k. He's turned that down holding out for £10k+ - an offer which wasn't coming. He's left money on the table backing himself to get a better contract elsewhere.
  6. They could easily do that if they employed competent, driven people to run the club. Instead they employ their lackey and bleed tens of millions a year (allegedly). I've no idea how they're rich - the poultry business must be a piece of piss if they run their other businesses this poorly.
  7. He was on £300 a week when we rescued him from the PNE scrapheap. He's been on several thousand pounds a week for the majority of his time here - and we know he turned down another pay rise when Broughton was here. He's hardly been hard done to. He thinks the grass is greener - good luck to him.
  8. Wednesday are in chaos - they've got a 3 window transfer embargo and the few players that remain at the club refuse to play for the manager... who also doesn't want to be there.
  9. So here's a thought exercise for everyone. Assuming Brittain is the last 'starter' to leave, what would you do in Gestede's place? Where do we need strengthening? Who needs shipping out? For mine: Sell Pears Sell Buckley Assess Duru or loan him out and bring in another RB Bring in a starting CB (possibly loan) Bring in another CM Bring in a RW (probably loan) Bring in a GK to challenge Toth So even conservatively (I wouldn't expect to challenge for the Playoffs with that squad, unless that loan RW was sensational) we're 5 players short.
  10. Only a year left on his contract, but worth £8m on Transfermarkt so it's unlikely.
  11. Why? He's a Uni student so probably 21 - it's sink or swim time for him. Might as well throw him in a professional game against men to see if he's got anything.
  12. Good - you'd be mad to play for this lot. They've shown their true colours.
  13. He's played RB a few times for us - he's clearly not a RB. He's a CM (and probably not good enough to play there at this level).
  14. He's a more athletic version of JRC (at RB). Very good going forward, good enough defensively when he's set, but still lacks a little pace (obviously JRC lacked a lot of pace). We'll miss him when he goes.
  15. So basically "we quite fancy him in and around the squad, but not enough to pay a fee for him". Which is pretty much right.
  16. Game's gone I'm afraid. Know loads of Liverpool fans at work - none of whom are from Liverpool. There'll never be any sort of parity again.
  17. Seen the highlights of the Stanley game - the new kit is awful.
  18. Surely all of those things are on hand when you're performing a medical?
  19. That was left over money in the annual budget. They won't commit to significant multi-year contracts it seems.
  20. £60m despite absolutely slashing the playing squad since Mowbray left. A flat £20m a year come what may. Not shady at all.
  21. Why would they? The last two managers have been cut off at the knees.
