  1. Loans should be used as the cherry on top - bolstering your team for a promotion push with a quality youngster that you'd have absolutely no chance of signing traditionally i.e. Mount, C. Gallagher, Elliot et al. We use it as an integral part of our squad building exercise i.e. Turnbull, Douglas. It's a criminal mismanagement of resources, but that's ol'Tone. We helped City, Everton and Liverpool out last season and finished mid table. We stunted the development of several of our own prospects to do so.
  2. I'd argue that he's done incredibly well to force himself into Mowbray's First XI. Not that he's NAILED on to start every week (although he should be), but he's made himself very difficult to drop. Is he a better player than he was when he arrived. Undoubtedly, he's 3 years older. Is he has good now as he should be considering his potential? Absolutely not. If there's any truth to the Leeds rumour he'll be off like a shot and good luck to him. Bielsa actually develops his players. At the right price that's a very shrewd signing for them. With a year left on his contract we won't get our money back on Brereton, but that's just part and parcel of the mismanagement that's rife at this club. #Mowbrayout
  3. Wait, Bennett AND Evans have gone? Is it Christmas?
  4. Sorry, what? The Kiwis set us 270+ where we'd need to score at 3.7 an over to win (something nobody had done on that pitch). That's not a 'sporting' declaration. That's a carrot to tempt stupid teams to try and chase the game. They'd batted us out of the game by that point. Instead they couldn't get us out in 70 overs and we move on to next week. That's Test cricket.
  5. It is, but I'd love to know which petty bastard waited until the biggest day of Robinson's career to highlight a few tweets he made as a teenager. They say revenge is a dish best served cold, but good lord.
  6. You only have to look on here for that. To some Brereton will never be good enough in their eyes (can't look past the transfer fee I guess) and is a bumbling idiot. To others he's been one of our best players in 2020/21. Likewise to others Armstrong is the Messiah.
  7. His name is still Saka and we have Calvert-Lewin and Rashford to play though the middle if Kane needs a rest / gets injured. Saka provides creativity out wide (both sides) and extended cover at LB. With the season he's had he had to go.
  8. Saka is much better than Watkins.
  9. Any manager that spends £7m on a player then plays him out of position for his entire tenure at the club shouldn't be within a hundred miles of a football club. The fact that Brereton has forced his way into the side and been a productive player in a role he's not suited for is a testament to him.
  10. Would I have signed him for a reported £7m? No. Would I give him a new contract after what he achieved last season (and presumably produces similar until Dec when you consider renewing his contract)? Yes.
  11. He'll also absolutely be another one of those London lads who can't live more than an hour away from the centre of the universe.
  12. Awful, awful player. Unfortunately we've retained the services of Tony Mowbray so he'll continue to make awful signings as long as they fit the holiday camp culture he's established at the club.
  13. At this level it's a simple game played by simple men. At Guardiola's level it's a more complex game played by ... simple men.
  14. To be fair to Maguire, I liked the comment btl in the Guardian last night - Maguire never looks like an £80m CB when he's on the pitch, but he sure does when he's off it. That said, we were spoiled for choice at CB and CM under previous managers.
  15. Tony Kroos would like a word. He abused Alexander-Armstrong in the Champions League. I'd take Wan-Bissaka over any of the above four, but I don't fill out a waistcoat quite like Southgate does, so what do I know?
  16. I think the spine of the squad is weak, but you can get around that with certain formations. We've got a bevvy of attacking options thought - something we've lacked in the past.
  17. I think mainly because he's quite a poor defender. He's great going forward but I want my fullbacks to be able to defend first and foremost.
  18. He'll take Sterling, but arguably he shouldn't. He's massively out of form and we're not desperate for his pace given our other options in the final third these days.
  19. Not for mine. The spine is v weak. Dodgy keeper, poor CBs and no standout CMs.
  20. Ahahahaha. This lot couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. Imagine them jumping on this niche (but potentially lucrative) marketing opportunity.
  21. Fingers crossed Chile have a decent manager who realises he should be played centrally.
  22. If it helps your crusade - I'm not renewing my season ticket. Neither are my parents. That's three long term season ticket holders who have had enough of Mowbray and how the club is run in general.
  23. Sadly the club doesn't exist anymore. Just an empty shell.
