  1. For some reason they've been absolutely desperate to bring Baradji in. A loan to buy for a player they can't give a timeframe for is a head scratcher. We're a CM down with Travis leaving, we're really short there now.
  2. It's brought in what, Β£25m+ (Wharton, Raya, Travis, Buckley, JRC, Leonard) in the last few years? This is not them positioning themselves to shut the Academy down. This is simply them selling assets they don't think can help us (and falling out with Travis).
  3. These transfers have paid for the Academy for the next 3 years, easily. That's not even factoring in the Raya / Wharton money. Buckley, JRC and Leonard (surprisingly) have been deemed not good enough and sold for a healthy fee. That's how the system should work.
  4. Ohashi gets bullied off the ball every week.
  5. They'd be shifting him out now if they didn't think he was good enough - they've been ruthless with the other transfers.
  6. Born in London, so I wonder if Eidur went native...
  7. I think someone has realised we were woefully short of assets. The ones over this Β£10k wage cap (or wanting an extension over this Β£10k wage cap) have been shifted out. They've been replaced with young gambles from abroad with an eye on developing them and selling them on. We'll be in the black when the window closes because we've absolutely slashed the wage bill.
  8. This Smit lad looks like he plays wide left too (similar to Brereton-Diaz). Would provide plenty of depth. DeNeve might have his nose pushed out of joint though.
  9. He's been completely frozen out, so he has to be leaving this window.
  10. Oh is that his son? I thought they had weird naming conventions over there? I wasn't expecting him to be a Gudjohnson.
  11. Either his back is absolutely fucked or something has gone on behind the scenes and he's upset people.
  12. It's a big gamble - and one that doesn't obviously push the two starters. To me we either need to bring in someone better than those two or someone wildly different for an option off the bench (i.e. quick!).
  13. We loaned out Travis and Buckley a few years ago so we could bring in new players. The budget really is that tight under these billionaire owners.
  14. Has it rained or is everyone sweating cobbs?!
  15. We're a more attractive proposition now in the Championship, if the owners would agree to sell us for our actual worth.
  16. I'm actually quite excited about our transfer activity - and this is coming from a dyed in the wool Venky hater who isn't fond of Gestede at all. We're targeting big, athletic players - ones who are hungry (having come from smaller leagues so this is a pay rise). They're gambles and inexperienced in this league, but at least they're not jaded by ongoing contract talks. Loans are a literal waste of money unless you're desperately fighting against relegation or pushing for promotion e.g. Hull set fire to Β£1m + wages for 6 months of Louis Barry sat in their treatment room last year.
  17. I think that's 3 starters and then 2 guys you only want to see come off the bench. We need another.
  18. Sheffield United have been throwing money around this week. Good page to keep track of it all: Transfermarkt
  19. Personally I would have quite liked to have built upon the squad that finished 7th last year, rather than dismantling it and starting again. Granted, that takes money which the owners refuse to provide.
  20. So you're happy with him publicly running down the club at every opportunity?
  21. Do you have another highlights video, cos the top one on YouTube doesn't show that at all!
  22. Yep. Think they should split the difference between Gueye and Ohashi and get a quick striker that can run in behind.
