Rovers Rumours & Speculation
Exiled_Rover replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think he'd thrive playing out wide at this level. He's not tall / physical enough to lead the line as a #9 - not with his lack of extreme pace - but I think he'd be a handful wide in a 3 with his close control, passing and vision. He could play as a #10 too, but they're queuing up to play there. -

Watching this Endo lad just pass the ball 5 yards backwards / sideways and late thinking that Liverpool missed a trick not going in for Wharton. -
Dilan Markanday.. potential talent or ?

If you watch the warm ups he's the best finisher in the squad. He's just incredibly small, slow and weak. -
But we know we're watching shite.

LOL the quality is diabolical in the SPL. 3-3 in an absolute clusterfuck of a game.

I certainly won't be going bonkers if we survive. It'll be pure relief after an incredibly disappointing season. -
Fuck VAR - absolute joke of a penalty given by the VAR officials in the Old Firm game.

John Eustace - our head coach

I would have, yes. -

Serious question - did Markanday look better than Gilsenan in the U21s? -

He turned down a Dutch club and a Swiss club in just 18 months in charge of us. He'll find another gig very easily when he wants it. He MIGHT get another Championship gig, but I'm sure he'd be much more discerning this time. -

I genuinely think Man City are dreadful to watch - they just have such ridiculous players that it works. Southampton (and Martin) are trying to be a Poundland Man City. -

The performance used to drop off after 20 minutes under JDT. Games followed a remarkably similar pattern under the Dane - we'd fly out of the blocks for the first 20 minutes, trying to get an early goal and on top in the game. We'd then fade after 70 minutes and hang on for dear life (or watch the game peter out if we weren't in the lead) with no impact subs to bring on. Those first 20 minutes for JDT were absolutely crucial - a bit like watching Emerton play for us, you knew within 20 minutes how our (and his) game was going to go. -

I'd be amazed if we spent any money. Isn't the delayed court case now in August? They simply won't authorise any spending until that's resolved. -
John Eustace - our head coach
Exiled_Rover replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Chrisene, Moran and Buckley are all viable options to bring on. Personally I think Carter is significantly better than Hyam and S. Wharton too. The big problem with our subs bench is that we don't have either a goal scorer or pace to bring on (we don't have either in the staring XI either beyond Szmodics). -

Agreed, I'm a big fan of JDT, but we were down if he stayed. The QPR game was the final straw for me - he was just being arrogant and stubborn and refusing to adjust his tactics for the squad of players he had available and sadly he'd lost the dressing room. I think he'll go on to achieve good things in the game (more than Eustace will), but his relationship here had soured. -

Did a good job defensively and put himself about. Was poor in attack though. -
We're not - the difference is we're in the Championship, so our Academy graduates are good enough to play for the first team. The PL teams were much, much better than the standard on show at Ewood these days.

The strike where a World Class player curled it across the GK into the top corner?

He's not being asked to do as much. It suits his limited game. -

That's the issue, isn't it - and has been all season. Southampton made 5 subs. We made 1 forced change due to injury and Eustace clearly didn't want to risk bringing a sub on in the last 10-15 minutes when everyone was playing well (if fatigued). -

Baseball is an occasion, not a sport. I went to a Yankees - Red Sox game a couple of years ago. People started leaving towards the end of the 7th inning, having spent most of the time ignoring the game and just chatting / eating food with their friends. -
The same as every EFL club? The system is slanted so that the PL clubs can steal our Academy players for pennies on the dollar if they identify them early enough.
-
Yeah, relegation for them was disastrous - it absolutely wasn't in any of their contingency plans.
