  1. We say it every week - pace. Clearly the Brighton lad and Cantwell are nowhere near match fitness, which is why we've got Baker (a CM by trade) wide left. Dolan and Hedges always get hawked down on the break.
  2. We have to find some money in January and sign Beck, he's been a revelation at LB.
  3. Looks like 4-2-3-1 to me with Carter at RB and Baker at LM / AML.
  4. They sold our best player in January.
  5. Duru looks decent. Bloxham is cursed with being an attacking player with no pace or height. Loves a pointless step over - no idea how they've got him as the #9.
  6. Beck's debut was better than any performance Pickering has put in for us.
  7. Personally I think we've improved the squad, and the starting XI, massively. Gueye and Ohashi are a big upgrade over Gallagher (and whoever you want to pick out of Ennis / Telalovic et al). Gueye's main contribution isn't going to be through goals (although he already has a couple) it's his hold up play and the chaos he causes in defence (he has four assists so far). I think you're downplaying Cantwell somewhat. If Eustace can help him get back to his best he's a far more talented player than Szmodics - if you look at Cantwell's stats in Scotland he had a pretty healthy return of goals and assists (especially considering the fans up there hate him), so it's not like he's a reclamation project. Beck is clearly better than Pickering, the question is whether Eustace is brave enough to play his best players or he'll look to keep the dressing room harmony and play his more senior one. Baker is better than Garrett. We have to hope Toth is better than Pears. The roll of the dice is Cozier-Duberry - could be brilliant, could be completely overawed by men's football, we'll just have to wait and see, but if something clicks it won't take much to contribute more than Dolan and Hedges. Just ask Weimann.
  8. Has Toth played for Hungary or has he just frustratingly been sat on the bench when he could have been training with his new team?
  9. I always give him a little boo when his name is announced in the stadium.
  10. Keeper had it easily covered - Batty stuck out a lazy leg and redirected it past the keeper. I'm sure they'll give it to McGoldrick, but Batty was clearly at fault.
  11. Batty has just scored an own goal for Stanley. Maybe he seriously improves on this loan, but he looks way off professional football from this display.
  12. Switched to the Notts County / Accrington game. Batty must be seriously quick because that's twice (both from GK kicks after a corner) that he's been the most advanced Stanley player. They're looking to counter with his speed.
  13. I'm bored so I'm watching the Bristol Rovers game - it's passing Garrett by. Gent is on the bench, but their LB hasn't pulled up any trees so I don't think we've let the next Ashley Cole leave.
  14. Doesn't he consider JRC able to play RB? I think he brought Duru on against Burnley because he has pace - which the Burnley winger had too and we know JRC doesn't (plus he'd had a mare midweek).
  15. Good interview that - and some good questions.
  16. You're asking a lot of your LB to cover the CF when the CB is right there.
  17. It's to do with the ESC (or whatever that acronym is) rules - and English players being wildly overpriced.
  18. Sounds similar to JDT's plea to just get him a striker, any striker, cos what he has in the building now is shite. JDT would have got us promoted with just Gueye in his first season. What could have been.
  19. Honestly I think that's your lot for the season. Only way we buy in January is if we sell again.
  20. Is he even in the country? I thought he was away on international duty.
  21. Rudy towing the party line in that YouTube video I see. "It's really important to thank the Board and the Owners" y'know after banking £40m+ and spending approx. £2.5m.
  22. He just needed consistent game time - he's clearly a very talented player. He also needs to learn to stay on his feet - too many slide tackles in that highlights package, you're asking for a yellow card in the modern game.
  23. Nah, the PL teams know who the promising talents are in every other Academy. They're not mugs.
  24. I think you've easily doubled what we actually spent on transfer fees with your wild guess. Unless you're including wages - in which case you'd have to factor in the wages that have gone out of the door too in that £30m+ figure.
