Before moving down there I'd always thought 'duck' was a term only used for women. You can imagine my surprise when the first person to call me it was a burly bus driver in Newcastle-under-Lyme! Thought he was hitting on me or something. I didn't spend a lot of time in Stafford, mostly just travelled through, and mostly at the uni (and at a uni, you'll always get all sorts of accents). So I never really got the chance to listen for the accent. If that's true I'd imagine you're either a bit posh there 😉 (the amount of people I've known from York or other parts of Yorkshire that sound southern...) or the accents all cancel each other out somehow.

January Transfer window 2022

It does run out in the summer. But we will extend it before then. There is no rumour that we don't have an extension, that's just your rumour. Sharpe isn't journalist of the year, but he wouldn't make up the club telling him they have a 1 year extension. We have 1 year extensions, in our favour, in the vast majority of deals we get players to sign these days. There is no reason to think it isn't true for BB. I can't remember us activating one of them before December so far, as we simply don't need to. -

Wow, that really is derisory. A competent board could probably get 5 million back out of Chilean marketing. Surely a player of his age, recent record and cult following is rated at least £15 million. Don't think I can even believe journalism that describes him as '5m-rated'. Expect the whole thing is made up. -
I guess wherever there is something to be won or gained in life, whether money or just bragging rights, you'll find a portion of people willing to cheat for it.

I know you have Potter in your name, but I lived around Stoke myself for about 7 years and I wouldn't call that a thick Stoke accent. I'd say it's a bit of a mix, about 80% Stokie maybe but something else underlying it (which I'd assume is a dash of Chilean, but it doesn't really sound Chilean because of the mix...she almost sounded Geordie in a few brief moments!). That said, despite the fact I can do a lot of accents and lived down there for 7 years, I was never able to do a Stokie accent properly myself. It's a bit of a hodge podge of a few other accents, I could never figure out the 'rules'. Sometimes it sounds scouse, sometimes brummy, sometimes northern...

I don't really follow cricket, but wasn't there a big furore over the Aussie cricket team for bad sportsmanship not so long ago? Unfortunately sport in general is rife with cheating and corruption. Even at amateur level I've seen diving and other cheating...and seriously nepotistic, at best, organisations. FIFA are absolutely vile though.

That's why I'm asking for clarification.

I don't think it's fair at all to say it's in their DNA. Borderline casual racism in fact. Perhaps you meant in their culture?

Can't be too many on here who will recognise the 'cameo' of the black guy who mocks 'life hacks' by doing a much simpler version then gesturing at it with a hilarious expression. I can't remember his name though. A Chilean guy gave a presentation at work the other week. He hasn't been home since before the pandemic. I chatted to him after and asked if he was into football. He said he wasn't into it, didn't know any players etc, but when I asked if he had heard of Ben Brereton, even his eyes lit up a bit and he certainly had heard about it. I suggested he get down to Ewood to make some friends back home jealous but he didn't seem like he was going to take me up on that!

I can't see him getting a season on loan at League One yet. Perhaps as emergency cover, but otherwise I suspect it's League Two at best until he can prove himself there. Which would leave him too far from proving himself for this level any time soon. I expect he will be released when his deal is up tbh. Too many bodies ahead of him in the pecking order.

Yeh I saw some of the games (11) were at Championship level. I know he has 2 in 5 for ROI, but let's be honest...scoring against Luxembourg and Azerbaijan isn't impressing anyone. Ultimately you never know for sure what a player is going to do for you until he plays. Even then it can take years sometimes, like with Brereton. -

It's 3 more than our captain has. I'm not judging him as such. I'm not saying he is crap, I'm saying it doesn't inspire any confidence. Like any other player, I would judge him entirely on how he played for us when he arrived, if he ever did come here. It's fair in advance of that to not have any excitement about him coming here with a very poor goal record at a lower level than we play, in a position we need goals. Of course, he could step up the level and start smashing then in, or be a creative fulcrum, it has happened before. At RM in a 4-4-2 in a lower league, I would expect at least 5 goals in that many appearances for that to not be a point of concern. We play our wide players further forward, so you never know. But I don't want a million pound 'you never know' punt in our situation. If it, or a similar deal happens, then so be it and see how it goes. Most of us as fans aren't about to do a full on scouting job, especially on a player we aren't linked with. -

Come on BDS. I'm sure he has other attributes to his game that are impressive or you wouldn't be suggesting him and ROI wouldn't have capped him 5 times. But 1 goal in 51 (in 70 if you cover all his spell in England) by age 24 isn't remotely acceptable for anyone playing anywhere on the front line. Poveda has managed that for us whilst barely featuring. Pickering has already managed that and he's a full back. Ayala has scored double that just this season and he is a CB. All these goals a league above where Ogbene scored his one. It's fair for posters to be more than dubious about that record, especially since we have a team reliant on scoring goals due to our leaky defence. Personally I'd need a hell of a lot of convincing to not feel nervous if we were to plonk a million on him like you suggest. -

I find it hard to believe anything Waggott says in public, let alone what I hear third hand that he says in a private chat for which he can't be held accountable. -
Apart from basically everything.

A new manager is not going to want to inherit a decimated squad, with the feeble recruitment infrastructure and system we have. That's giving themself too much of a difficult start to life here, at what is already known to be a bit of a basket case club. Mowbray doesn't always make poor signings. As long as the summer budget isn't blown it's not the worst thing to try to strengthen. There's a chance 1 or 2 might be good. A place can be found for most good players by most managers. -
Summer transfer window 2021.
bluebruce replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
No, I don't like him because he jumped from his supposed boyhood club at the first chance (ok, that part happens) and then when we were in relegation trouble and beat United at OT, he said it was the worst day of his professional career. The lad was in the 7-1 humping Manure gave us, but losing to his boyhood team was the worst day of his career. I wouldn't say I dislike a player because of their injury record. Fuck him. -

This. Put whatever money is being considered for this crock towards signing our assets on.
