  1. Sorry, here's an undeleted one for you.
  2. Tbf 1.5m is nearly Whiteman's fee. Dunno what wages he expects though, probably roughly in the 10kpw, 500k per year bracket.
  3. I read that interview earlier and it only made me even less optimistic. He basically acknowledged all of Wycombe's strengths play against our weaknesses, but that we aren't going to change our approach to account for that at all.
  4. Tonight's game against City can be watched on City's platform. For free, although that's because theres a 30 day free trial followed by 1.99 per month, so just make sure to cancel it before that. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.mancity.com/news/eds-academy/watch-man-city-eds-blackburn-rovers-city-63736015
  5. Really think that's a shame for us, he was looking like a perfect solution to Trav being out. Hopefully we have other, good irons in the fire.
  6. Great touch for his goal too. Commentator was awful. Total non reaction to that superb overhead kick for the opener.
  7. It may be hindsight to you, but as keeps being pointed out, quite a lot of us were upset with the Raya fee at the time. That's not hindsight, that's foresight. Regardless of what we thought he would be selling for just a year down the line, we all (those who were unhappy with the fee) thought he was already worth more than 3 million and would probably go on to be worth quite a bit more. Don't rewrite history.
  8. Wow, that's a lot more than 1.7m, you're right! No wonder we are in debt! Dack is a very good player at this level, but paying the best part of a billion for him was madness...
  9. Poor example. It would be ridiculous to describe him missing a free kick as a sitter. Holtby could have scored. There's no should about it. His technique was solid, he was just a little unlucky.
  10. Right, cos that's all that matters, not the stuff I said. Got it. Context is king. It was bloody close. If he had got it a foot to the left we'd be calling it an emphatic finish and really lauding it.
  11. Holtby's? The one where he smashed Nyambe's cross just wide? The force he struck that, how close it came, the difficulty from the way his body was turning...I'm not saying it was a terrific attempt but if that's missing an absolute sitter then nearly every miss is a sitter.
  12. I didn't particularly want Gallagher. Certainly not at 5 million. Fairly sure there will be posts on here of me saying he wasn't worth more than about 2 million or so. I did want Chapman, and think it was a gamble worth taking. It didn't pan out, partly IMO from Tony not playing him when the time was right. Which seems to have pissed the player off and disillusioned him. Partly the player's fault too, and the injury. He probably won't have worked out by the time he is done at the club, which is a shame.
  13. Well now you're being hyperbolic about the hyperbole
  14. Ah I forgot about Kasey Palmer. Guess it's a 50% hit rate then. I mean he wasn't horrendous, but definitely a show pony at this point of his career, epitomising the flash type not cut out for this league, as you mentioned. You're right he is probably mostly talking high end Prem clubs at that 1.5 mill a season figure, though there may be the odd outlier in lower Prem sides (prospects they bought for decent money rather than grew, for example). I feel he likes to take the most extreme examples and run with them though.
  15. Runarsson is very cheap, less than 2 mill, and Brentford allegedly want to loan Raya back for a season. So if they were signing Raya as an investment and have the cheaper kid be backup whilst Raya goes back to Brentford, it still makes sense. Then next season maybe loan Runarsson out instead. Either deal could just not be happening, of course.
  16. Although it probably won't happen, I'd be fairly buzzing if we signed Manning and loaned Garner. Pears will do as backup GK too.
  17. Certainly if a Prem club genuinely wants him we have no chance. But surely it wouldn't be too hard a deal for them to tie up if so? Which makes you wonder why is he still there. If it is him, it fits with our transfer strategy this window. Frozen out, just like Kaminski was. With the Kipre attempt we were trying to take advantage of Wigan's collapse. Ayala a free agent. We are definitely shopping for players who are costing less than they should. The covid climate will help with that too, though who knows how much it has affected our own budget.
  18. Reading a bit more on Manning's situation, it very much sounds like if Manning and Osayi-Samuel don't agree contracts, they'll be sold this window. Manning has been in the process of changing agents and his new representatives haven't held formal talks with QPR yet - as of 6 days ago.
  19. Not sure why that deal is dragging out so much. 15 mill or so isn't that much these days for a Prem side, let alone the likes of Manure and AC Milan, to pay for an experienced Prem striker at 28 years old. You have to think if any of the big clubs really wanted him he would be there now. They're probably either not interested or looking at other targets first. We could definitely use a few million from that one.
  20. Played a single game there last season.
  21. He played a League Cup game for them on the 5th, and scored. Left out of the league opener though and their manager apparently saying he won't play him til the contract is sorted (I don't see a direct quote on that though, looks like inference) and that there's no breakdown in relationship with the player. Seems to have only ever done about half a season of games with QPR until last season, when he notched 5 and got 5 assists in 35 assists from LB, with another 2 assists from 5 games at LW. Would be great to have a goal threat from the flank like that, and if he can defend even a bit better than Bell, which shouldn't be hard, it would be a huge upgrade. Wondering a little why he doesn't seem to have any ROI caps if he's that good though, something our own Del has managed God knows what QPR or the player want, sounds like a budget stretcher if he is someone we want. Be worth it at this stage. Of course its entirely speculation at this point before anybody gets carried away or asks why we are talking about him.
  22. Reports range from 10% of profit, to 20%. Brentford have played a blinder if it's true and they get 15 million plus get to loan him back. I'm not sure what that achieves for Arsenal though since they're in for him cos they're looking for a backup keeper. Then again there was a report they were getting some other guy for 2 mill, so maybe the idea is that guy fills the gap for a year. If they pull it off they're definitely showing us again how you do business on an asset.
  23. In fairness though, under TM we have only had one loan from a top club that I can remember, so that's a 100 percent hit rate when loaning them. Other loanees have been from lesser Prem sides and one Championship side. Reed, great success from Southampton, Cunningham, success until injured, Walton, dogshit from Brighton, Harper from WBA who was dogshit, Antonsson from Leeds who did an alright job, Payne from Hudds who we didn't really need but was ok, and Armstrong who was a success and made perm. So the notion that we only really try from the top top clubs doesn't really add up. Also, with a small sample of one player from a big club who did well, the results have been better, although that's a very limited sample to go off! But our non top club loans have been a mixed bag. I might be forgetting some. We had some other lad on loan from Manure I think, years ago, was shit but the name escapes me. Think it was just before TM though.
  24. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/blackburn-rovers-loan-market-transfers-18950336 I'm annoyed by a couple of things in this interview. One being Mowbray's insistence on being honest that players won't be automatic picks. Sure, they shouldn't be, but just blag it like every other club who pretends they'll give them guaranteed starts and then doesn't if they're not up to it, you're hampering us here. Different if the club wants financial penalties for not playing them obviously. Also, he told Reece James, who recently started and scored for Chelsea, that he would have to get the shirt off Nyambe. Whilst the standard of competition is higher in this case as Nyambe is a good player, it's very reminiscent of when he told Reed he needed to learn from Smallwood and Evans, and told Bauer he would have to compete with Del and Mulgrew. Players don't want to hear that shit, especially when they're really good or need game time. You can be honest and still present it positively. "I do see you as being first pick in this position because I really rate you as a player and I'm excited to bring you in. You'll definitely get a proper chance to make the shirt your own. Just remember we have very high standards here and you'll have to maintain them to stay in the side." Versus "Well if you work really hard in training I'll give you a chance after a month or so." I definitely get the impression these meetings with Tony are closer to the latter than the former. One more thing actually, he said players have to prove themselves on the training ground first, 'especially' young players. No Tony, not especially young players, it should be all players the same. If anything, especially older players, because they're probably not going to improve whereas young players need games to do so. He isn't resistant to playing youngsters of course, we have quite a few in the side, but I definitely think this attitude towards them has held him back at times. Senior players get easy street comparatively.
