The maths on the article in the Express were off. They said something like we bought him for 3.25 and paid his agent 500k. Then we sold him for 2.5, which was the same as we bought him for minus the agent's fee. Obviously, 3.25 mill minus 500k isn't 2.5 mill. I don't know about anybody else, but reading the article in the Express I personally felt like they had nothing on us at all. And the word 'theory' was bandied about in ours- the other three transfers all seemed much more anchored in fact. Then again, Rovers have made no comment, whilst one of the other accused parties (I forget who) have denied it outright. This worries me a bit.

Thanks for that (And you too Tris), but you seem to be talking pure arse. I won't even begin to point out why what you said simply isn't the case. But I will point out that there are various sky channels that are quite capable of filming the game themselves. And we would certainly get something called 'money' from this process. Even if it was just a few grand, I see no reason not to. Thanks for taking my words ('putting it on the telly') out of context too, when it was clear within the context that I was referring to offerring it cheaply. And on top of all that, thanks for being a condescending tool

Furious that it's not on telly. There's no chance of my debt-ridden ass going to Austria for this one, so it appears that I won't get to see it live. Even bloody Derry are on the tube (Twice...spurs are on two channels too). Can't we just flog the rights cheaply to some naff station? I mean, it's not like the club really get money from our away support in Austria, right? So they could at least help all the fans who can't pull off a trip like that by putting it on the telly.

That's the key question, above all else. But I don't know. Not too enamoured of this signing, I'd prefer that if we really end up down at the bone we try out some youth players.

[Archived] Shabani Nonda Signs
bluebruce replied to FourLaneBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Not what I asked though, I know he scored 8 in 22 last season. However, I was under the impression that some of those came before the injury, and hopefully some after. So I'd like to know how he scored AFTER injury, especially since somebody said he's lost a yard of pace since it. Discovered he underwent surgery in December, putting him out of the African Cup of Nations, but I haven't been able to find when he recovered. -

How has Nonda played SINCE the injury? Anybody know whether he's scored since, or how well he has done so? Kinda worried by the prospect of our strikeforce during the African Nations Cup...though I spose it's a chance for the young lads to shine. -
[Archived] Mido - The Man Who Would Be A Lier
bluebruce replied to West Sussex Rover's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Mido has made a mistake that I struggle to fathom out. At the time, remember, Spurs had no interest in him and he was content to stay at Roma, on the bench, rather than lead the line for a lot more money. Then, a team who finished one place and what was it, 2 points, above us comes along. A team that already has three top class strikers he'll be hard pressed to push out of the team, one of whom was only just bought for considerably more money than him after the club who have since signed Mido decided they didn't want the Egyptian at the time despite him costing far less. So its obvious they rate Berbatov higher, Keane is in fantastic form as ever, and Defoe is hardly to be underestimated. I highly doubt they're paying Mido more than we would have, to sit on their bench. And he could easily have lived in a nice area in/near Manchester. But hey, he's made the choice, and maybe in time he'll come to regret it. I for one bloody well hope so. -

[Archived] Emerton Blow For Rovers

Actually, there have been moments when I've found him to be too full of self belief- prompting him to do ridiculous backheels to opposition defenders. -

Skysports have an article on it also: Emerton blow Hughes: "He has the ability to carry the ball from one end of the field to the other, and that's why other teams have coveted him this summer." Do you think he means from the right to the centre of the field? In a dream world, I was hoping we could get over 2 million for him and sign Gera. Oh well. Guess we can forget the club moving for a right winger who can actually play now. -

There's a considerable amount of irony in that one-line question. And I say irony because it's less confrontational than 'hypocrisy'. -
I have to say I'm not entirely won over by this signing. His record seems to show that, goals-wise, he's a very erratic player. Last season he barely scored at all, and I feel we need somebody guaranteed to bag us more. Then again, perhaps his heart wasn't in at as much last year after his transfer fell through, or maybe he was trying to engineer himself into an affordable position. Hope it comes off though. I'd love to see us try and snap up Saviola too (partly funded by letting Kuqi go perhaps), then I'd be extremely confident about next year.

[Archived] Italian Refereeing Scandal
bluebruce replied to philipl's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Er, not sure, but if that's true, isn't it due to all the other relegated teams? -
Well sure, but a quick look at the, ya know, facts, should have demonstrated to him that he was only capable of 6.
-
Got to wonder why the hell Arsenal paid 10 mill for him, his record at Everton wasn't exactly impressive. Seems that when he joins a club, a figure is randomly decided for him to score each season he is with them- he was only capable of 6 a season for Everton, and 2 a season for Arsenal. Wonder what it'll be for us...

[Archived] Roberts Signs
bluebruce replied to The1mattjansen's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Aye, saw both the sites I mentioned bring it up a little after I posted. Would love to know what the fee was before I decide whether it's a good or bad move. Obviously I hope for the former. The rovers site credits him with 14 goals for Wigan. I assume the other 6 were in cups. The season just gone was maybe the best he's had, too... -

What's your source? Nothing at skysports.com or at the rovers official website, as I type. -
Woops, eh?

What you talking about son? Best TEAM goal, you probably have an argument. But best goal? Nah. Maradona took the ball about as far ON HIS OWN, so that rubbishes that theory. You're judging him without knowing him though. Mind, proponents of signing him are usually doing the same.
