  1. I don't think any of Carter, Hyam or Batth can be dropped. Given Pickering will come in it's a very defensive backline so tactics will need to change with neither full back likely to be as attacking as Britain or Beck have been. For me: Pears Carter, Hyam, Batth, Pickering Travis Tronstad ACD Cantwell Sigurdsson Gueye
  2. Lets not forget where we were 7 games ago - nailed on for relegation to league 1. Of the 16 players involved today, 8 are new. We're a work in progress and despite the disappointment of not being able to convert the draw to a win we're averaging 2 points a game and fourth in the league. I doubt I'm alone in thinking it would probably take 12 games to get to 12 points. Hopefully lessons learnt and we get back to winning ways against QPR. I expect we'll see quite a few changes.
  3. To quote TM: Put the point in the bag and move on.
  4. Reminded me of when JDT pulled him out of the side for a while. He's played premier league football non-stop since January + away with England over the summer. Looks like he needs some time out, to regroup and come back stronger.
  5. Confirmed for a week tomorrow but of course, no mention of ticket prices or when they'll be on sale.
  6. Yes that's obviously it. The coaching levels offered by our PE teacher who never played the game will definitely will be at the same level as an ex international goalkeeper.
  7. Yes, after leaving. It was posted on here the other day but David Raya's recent interview says it all: David said. "If you watch highlights from me when I was back at Blackburn, you will see a keeper that just stood on the line, not coming for anything, rarely going for a cross, rarely going outside the box, rarely anticipating, just waiting to make that save. "When I signed for Brentford, Inaki just completely changed my style of being a goalkeeper, to be more proactive and anticipate stuff that has not happened yet. So, if you can go for a cross, just go for it. Don't wait for the save. Instead, avoid the chance. For balls in behind and all that, stay high as much as possible to be able to cut out the attack. "If you see me at Blackburn and then after I signed for Brentford, it's two completely different goalkeepers. At Blackburn, I wasn't going for any crosses. And then at Brentford and here, I think my numbers on crosses are remarkable. Brentford were in the same league as us yet they had a goalkeeping coach that was miles ahead of ours. Why wasn't he being taught those things at Rovers?
  8. What, 4 goalkeepers that have improved since leaving?
  9. Saw that Alan Kelly is looking for work. Bring him back...
  10. Seems Steve is quickly getting up to Kean levels of hatred amongst some of the fan base. We got that prick out and we'll get you out too...
  11. I know that an enquiry to Blackburn with Darwin council was made about putting ads up around Ewood (digital/paper) showing discontent at the club/board/owners. The question was asked would they allow it. The response that came back indicated they would as long as what was created didn't breach their advertising policy. You'd think that if the club had any kind of relationship with the town and who runs it, it would have immediately been shut down...
  12. It will be an existing sponsor - they've shown their reach is around a 5 mile radius of Ewood so I'd be surprised if it was a new source of income.
  13. They've all had 3 months off - none of them will be fully up to speed / 'match' fit.
  14. Atcheson is only 17. Getting 15-20 games between now and January in the National League North will likely bring him on more than being in the U18s/U21s. As a defender he'll get much more of a hard time and education coming up against some shithouses there!
  15. Makes Finneran's decision to move more baffling. He'd be fourth choice CM as it stands and have a real chance to play a good number of games this season.
  16. They've got his first name wrong so not sure how reliable they are..!
  17. It's a 9 man subs bench from this season. Still work to do to fill it with decent options to affect a game..
  18. Since the end of last season (when the bench was so weak the manager was reluctant to use hardly any subs) the following have departed: Ayari Moran Chrisene Koumetio Fleck McFadz Wahlstedt Telalovic Gallagher Coming in we've had: Gueye Ohashi McFadz Travis So we're still 5 first team players down on what was already a shit squad and that's before the likely departure of our best player. Needs another 5 permanent transfers of Championship standard and 3/4 loans to have a chance of a season not fighting relegation. It won't happen. We're simply rearranging (for cheaper) chairs. Whilst it is a positive we're active in the market, the net spend after seeing Gallagher go for £1.6m and the pending departure of Gent for £200k is likely nil. So still the £1m Walstedt, £5m Raya, £22m Warton and SS' £8m in the bank.
  19. We may actually do better with Finneran leaving now than in a season or two if god forbid these bastards still own us. If he does well and a sell on clause comes in for £4m/£5m like Raya, I'd rather have that in a few years under new ownership than into the black hole. Like as already mentioned this afternoon, I've absolutely no issue at anyone wanting to get out of Rovers right now.
  20. I was told this morning by somebody local that one of Barnsley's top scorers from last season has had talks with North End and Rovers. They couldn't remember the name but had been told by one of the player's friends. Looking and they have a midfielder - Adam Phillips - who is from Garstang so I'm guessing that's who it is. There are stories in the LEP about him but they also say 'Preston North End might have to offer 'silly money' to Barnsley to entice them into selling midfielder Adam Phillips this summer'. That's us ruled out then.
  21. If Eastham is out of the picture and they're looking to move him on plus the older Joe Hilton who's 24, I've no problem with this guy coming in as a third choice but as mentioned, to come in as number 2 (or 3 behind Hilton) takes (more of) the piss.
  22. Of that squad that are going to Austria - take away the starting XI back 4 - Brittain, Carter, Hyam and Pickering - and there are no other defenders (aside from Wharton who won't likely play this season) who have made a Championship start. Who are we linked with? a 37 year old McFadzean and injury prone Liam Cooper... Makes the Hull guy stand out a mile yet we can't afford a few hundred £k to sign him. We'd need him plus another. But we know the score - Pickering is now a CB, Travis/Buckley are right backs and Gent is 'like a new signing'. All sorted - no need to bring anyone in. Can see it now - last couple of days of the window and it will be loans from the premier league with no wage contributions and a guarantee of games. It is going to be a long season.
