  1. Sounds like MGP's corners are still crap?! I was away last week - Who took them when Peter came on against Newcastle? oh ###### they've scored again.
  2. Could be more of a 4-5-1 with Axe & Bentley either side of a 3 man midfield? Brad Neill, Todd, Zura, Gray Axe Reid, Sav, MGP Bentley Kuqi
  3. He looked like a little boy lost when he came on and during the warm up. I thought he made the same contribution for Bolton that he has done every time he's been on the pitch since the accident - everywhere the ball was, he wasn't. Don't know if the crash has affected his head but he looks as though he's lost all the positional sense he had and what was one of his major assets. Before the Bolton team came back into the dressing room before the match about 4 or 5 players where taking shots at Walker(?) and Matt was litteraly being the ball boy - not once did he shoot he just kept fetching the ball and watching the others. Shame what's happened but it's going to take a miracle to make him a prem player again...
  4. I'm with you on this... The club looks to have been either very naive or just wanted rid of him as easy as possible. If Rovers had known of the interest from Man City, Bolton, Everton & Wigan they should have let him go on a free transfer with clauses for goals, appearences & a sell on percentage. The fact that they did not insist on this indicates they did not anticipate Matt Jansen would be at another Premiership club within 48 hours. If he makes an appearance today I wont boo him but moving to BWFC makes it hard to give him applause. 4-0 with a Jemal Johnson hatrick after coming on as sub in the 4th striker role please!....
  5. "I am looking forward to working with him between now and the end of the season and I hope he can recapture the form that made him one of England's best strikers a couple of seasons ago." Haha try 4! Gone down a little bit in my book by signing for one of our immediate and local rivals. Good luck to him though I suppose - If anyone can turn him round it's got to be Big Sam. Not sure how he will fit in with their 4-5-1 formation - on the left?! Not his best position though and he'd be crap up front on his own.
  6. Everyone was raving about him after Middlesborough away in the Cup!
  7. I thought he was brilliant last night and easily man of the match. After seeing the replay for the goal I thought he could have done better but after seeing it again it was Saha who created the goal and not Todd who handed it to him. Todd had an eye on Saha and on the player with the ball. Just before the ball was played through Saha made an excellent run on the blindside of AT leaving him with a clear run on goal.
  8. Also seen on BBC Wap site that Everton, Man City, Bolton & Wigan are interested but only in giving him a contract til the end of the season.
  9. Peter did ok - kept things simple but apart (!) from the 3 passes for the goals didn't really do anything else of note! He maybe tried to take on the full back 2/3 times - First time I've seen him and he looked more of a left sided midfielder than an out and out winger - Seemed reluctant to go for the byline. Bellamy is on a different level to the majority of our players. If we can build the team around him during the next few years we will be a top 6 side. Overall I thought the performance was ok - The scoreline perhaps flattered Rovers and they were unlucky not to score. If we play the same on Weds I fear another 3-0 but this time reversed. :s Hopefully MGP will be refreshed and have the same impact as when he was left out of the side recently. Onwards and upwards!
  10. I cant see wholesale changes for this. My team for tomorrow... Friedal Neil, Zurab, Nelsen, Gray Emerton, Tugay, Savage, MGP Bellamy, Dickov Would like to see Peter given a start but would be happy for him to come on at half time once Pedersen's done the damage. I think Dickov will start as he's been the one getting subbed recently so not really due for a rest unlike Kuqi. Ideally I think we'd all like to see some of the back-up players start but not at the expense of a possible upset. Rovers to win 3-1 - Bellamy, Dickov & Emerton.
  11. I'd rather give Johnson or Derbyshire a chance to shine rather than giving a half interested Jansen a game if he decides he is definately going. Perhaps they could agree to one final chance on Saturday - Play well and stay in the side. I'm sure he would rather stay here and be in the team than anywhere else.
  12. Cant imagine Jansen at Bolton... He'd either be played up front on his own or out on the wing. For me he's not a lone striker and although he used to tend to drift out wide when playing up front he is not a winger/forward.
  13. Just had a look back at recent league tables - If we were to double our current point haul and end up on 54 points we'd be likely to finish 7th/8th at the end of the season. If we can find just a little extra in the next half of the season Europe's a real possibility!
  14. We've heard through somebody at another club that Rovers 'forgot to turn the undersoil heating on until it was too late'. I hope this is untrue but it's probably going to be one of those things where we will never find out.
  15. It's not just the pitch that's the factor though - Fan's safety also has a bearing if a game goes ahead too doesn't it?
  16. I went on North End on Saturday and Jemal looked out of his depth at that level. :s He didn't seem to have any understanding with the players on his team - going into spaces but his teammates didn't once play him in with a good ball. Perhaps he's used to playing with better players who can spot his runs and that's why he looked useless?!? I think he would have been better off staying at Rovers than going out on loan.
  17. He scored 2 goals in 5 games and was very popular!
  18. Just a thought - what odds on Sav being on Soccer AM tomorrow morning with it being the day of the big game?!
  19. Absolute joke! Savage might not make the headlines with goals like Tugay & Thompson (& MGP) but the drive he adds to the midfield is invaluable. If you are serious that you'd rather have Flitcroft in ahead of him you need a reality check! I'm sure the opposition would rather face an ageing Flitcroft who brings nothing to the side than Savage. His none stop harrying forces mistakes and never allows the opposition to settle. I've said previously but I think Savage has had his best games for us at home this season.
  20. Owen would be the first name on any managers team sheet at most clubs so it wouldn't really matter if he was a Souness buy and he was then sacked? Can't stand either Liverpool or Newcastle-hope he stays in Madrid/signs for us. lol
  21. I don't think anyone's given Savage a proper mention but I thought he had his best game for Rovers on saturday. A few more games will see his match fitness improve and he will be a key player for us this season.
  22. Going back to the original question - So how has he actually looked pre-season?
