Am I imagining weeks ago reading that Celtic could be an option for Bell? Tierney > Arsenal, Cunningham > Rovers, Bell > Celtic? Fing hope so...!
-
Issue I have with the idea of sending him on loan is if we do that it's going to be league 1/2. If John Buckley was at United/City/Chelsea he'd be loaned out to a Championship side and playing most weeks - like Mason Mount, Harvey Barnes, Ben Woodburn, etc. It's as though his stature is less as he's come through our own academy. Is he really that far behind those 3? In midfield standings I'd have Travis, Johnson, Davenport, Buckley. Get rid of Evans & Smallwood, Downing, Bennett can do a job in there if needed.

For Brentford's income see https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-brentford/alletransfers/verein/1148 They've sold £81m worth of players over the previous 4 seasons. This excludes Maupey who's still there and apparently wanted by Sheffield United for £22m.

Would've thought (hoped) Charlie Adam was nailed on to return to Blackpool given they're splashing the cash.

I expect the Leeds goalkeeper is being looked at to fill a position in the U23s to allow Fisher to go out on loan. I seem to remember reading that we didn't have much cover there...?

The mysterious case of Joe Rothwell.

I'd give Mulgrew a go at left back. Can't be any worse than Bell and keeps him in the team for set pieces... -

I can't see where the changes are going to be made with the injuries we have and the U23 side last night. Raya Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew, Bell Travis Smallwood Conway Palmer Rothwell Nutall Leutwiler, Caddis, Hart, Downing, Rodwell (purely cos there's nobody else to take a seat on the bench) / Whittingham (cant see it as he hasn't been anywhere near), Reed, Graham So just Bennett & Evans out from the side that started at the weekend which has been widely reported anyway... I'd give Reed a go instead of Smallwood but he's only just come in and don't think the manager will throw him straight in. -

That no 7 is crying out for CHAPMAN...
-
Season long deal too. Was initially being reported as just short term?
-
The ideal long term replacement for Graham was here last season - Sam Gallagher. However, with Southamption looking like they're going to be relegated he may just get his chance there.

[Archived] Andre Ooijer Signs !

Apologies if this is already being discussed - Couldnt see it on the first page... Rovers have taken the 12 month option on Andre Ooijer's contract: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_3204019,00.html Good news for me - After his shaky start at Rovers he's become probably our most consistent defender this season... -

He wont be sold - He's reliable, experienced and our 3rd choice centre back and second choice right back! He's done well this year and I'd be concerned to see him go - especially with our other options and priorities lying elsewhere. He's this season's Mokoena for me - much improved from when he played his first few games... Oh re his contract - I've had a look and although it does expire at the end of the season, Rovers have an option for another year which I expect we will activate in the next few weeks... -
I'm another fan of The Axe. As already mentioned he has played his best football for us in a 4-5-1 and took time to adapt to playing in a 4 man midfield. At first he was comical but when he was given a regular place in the side he has shown to be more than capable replacement for savage. I think Hughes rates him too - I remember a comment not so long ago about keeping players happy and that good players like Mokoena cant be kept out of the side for too long.

He wont be cuptied if he plays in the intertoto for us tomorrow... -
This is why I dont really give a rats arse about England - Run by cretins from top to bottom. Only really take an interest if a Rovers player is involved but Bentley may as well have been left out of the squad and given a rest before the Under 21's. I could've watched Super League instead of that crap!! I can understand Downing coming on as he played really well last week but Dyer, Jenas & then Carrick coming on in a non-competitive game where there was an ideal opportunity to experiment was a joke. Do you think Bentley would've fluffed that cross towards the end by Dyer (Edit - It was apparently Super Jermaine Jenas) when it was 2 on 2? Probably not. I'm semi-hoping for a draw/defeat on Weds just to get rid of this clown but that would probably mean no Euro 2008. Aaaaaaaargh!!!
-
Nice to see McLaren experimenting and using new players... Dyer & Jenas FFS!!! Aaaaaaargh!
-
Thought he was England's main outlet tonight and once he had gone off there didnt appear to be anyone who wanted to be on the ball and create chances. There were a couple of passes in the first half that were very 'Beckhamesque' (!) Hopefully he will get his chance - would cap a brilliant season to be involved against Brazil next week. Delighted for him...

When I've seen Berbatov he has impressed me a lot but then I came accross this stat on another forum. Here are the teams he has scored across in the league this year... Sheffield United. 2 against Wigan. 2 against Boro. 3 against Charlton. 2 against Fulham. Newcastle West Ham None of these are in the top 10! He's also contributed a lot of assists too to be fair but it looks as though he could be a big game bottler?! I hate to go on about media bias, etc. but it's ridiculous all the hype about him (given the stats above) when our no 10 doesnt get a look in.
